Edict of the Teutonic Order

Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor of Oren, William the Third of His Name, King of Renatus and Seventis, Defender of the Faith, Protector of the Realm, and Regent Eternal of the Kingdom of Heaven

 

    At the will of His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor William the Third, certain competencies and powers of the Imperial Government of Oren are hereby delegated to the reinstated Teutonic Order, an organization to be headed by the holder of the office re-established herein, The Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order.

 

At the will of His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor William the Third, the Kingdom of Hanseti and all titles and feudal tenures derivative thereof are hereby abolished.

 

At the will of His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor William the Third, the entire lands of the former Kingdom of Hanseti are granted in perpetuity to the Teutonic Order, on the condition that they, and all products derived from them, be used solely for the protection of the realm, and for the sole benefit of the Holy Empire of Oren.

 

At the will of His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor William the Third, the Teutonic Order shall be held as under the sole jurisdiction of the Holy Emperor of Oren or his specifically delegated authorities.

 

 

Section I

Competencies Delegated

This edict delegates to the Teutonic Order and the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order the following competencies of the Imperial Government of the Holy Empire of Oren:

  • The Duty to defend the Holy Empire of Oren and all its denizens, especially from intrusion by foreign forces from the North, in a manner consistent with the Emperor’s Peace.

  • The Power to induct selected subjects of this realm into the ranks of the Teutonic Order.

  • The Duty to manage the affairs of the Teutonic Order efficiently, and ensure that said Order maintains a loyal and pious membership.

  • The Power to manage the affairs of the Teutonic Order and the lands assigned to them, in a manner identical to the power a feudal lord is given over his own lands.

 

 

Section II

Privileges Granted

This edict grants to the Teutonic Order and the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order the following privileges, in reward for services rendered and to be rendered.

  • All lands of the former Kingdom of Hanseti, and all products derived from them in the future, to be used solely for the protection of the realm, and for the sole benefit of the Holy Empire of Oren and the Teutonic Order are granted by the generosity of the Holy Emperor.

  • All memorabilia, supplies, structures permanent and impermanent, and possessions of the Kingdom of Hanseti and the Teutonic Order formerly collected by the Imperial Government are granted by the generosity of the Holy Emperor.

  • All rights, privileges, duties, and accolades formerly granted to the Teutonic Order and the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order are reinstated and reordained by the generosity of the Holy Emperor.

  • The House of Carrion and all attendant lands and feudal tenures held by their family are established as sworn protectors and loyal servants of the Teutonic Order, a position to be held by them until released from their assignment by the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order.

  • The Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order is granted the sole privilege to pardon any denizen of the Empire from his crimes on the condition that said denizen accept permanent membership in the Teutonic Order as penance.

 

 

Section III

Limitations Assigned

This edict lays upon the Teutonic Order and the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order the following limitations, in recognition of their unique and invaluable role in the Empire.

  • No member of the Teutonic Order who was taken the oaths required for their membership may ever leave the ranks of that order without the express and declared permission of the reigning Holy Emperor of the Holy Empire of Oren or the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order, and those who attempt to abandon their Order illegally will be punished to the specifications of the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order.

 

 

Section IV

Necessary Measures for the Orderly Reinstatement of the Teutonic Order

All former Sariants and Plebeians of the Teutonic Order who held their membership at the time of its disbandment are ordered to report to the Castle Greywynn for reinduction into the Order on the authority of the Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order.

All former edicts concerning the nature of the Teutonic Order are considered to be in continued full force, excepting where they conflict with measures established by this edict.

*Upon reading the edict of reinstatement upon the various mail which comes through to Krelta looks upon the piece of paper and then to the Teuton keep and see's a bunch of smoke rise from the castle, upon seeing it he says...*

"Nice going Teutons, you had one job."
