Peerage of Ruska

All vassals of Ruska must follow Gavelkind Agnatic-Cognatic inheritance.

Gavelkind Agnatic-Cognatic is inheritance that follows the principle of dividing your titles among the three primary pretenders to the throne. The main titles will be passed to your immediate heir. If no legitimate sons are available then a daughter may become lady of the land in the event that the current regent shall pass away. A younger daughter that has given birth to a son that is currently alive has precedence as far as inheritance concerns than that of an older daughter who has not given birth to a son that is currently alive and capable of being a ruler in the future or has already come of age.

The Holy Kingdom of Ruska recognizes the age of fourteen as the age when a lord/lady is fit to rule without the need for a regent.

King:

His Holiness, the King of Ruska is absolute ruler of the kingdom. Ruler under the Creator himself and in the Creator’s name. Succession is Seniority Agnatic based on relation with Goddard. The current heir to the throne is Otto Sarkozic Carrion.

Grand Duke:

The Grand Duke is the Highest ranking peer in Ruska. They rule over a Grand Dukedom which may hold multiple Duchies and Counties within it's borders. A Grand Duke may also hold as many duchies and counties as they wish. They must also have a comital keep in there capital county.

Duke:

A duke is the second senior title of peerage within the Holy Kingdom of Ruska. They rule over a duchy which may also hold several counties within its borders (No set number). The female equivalent to this title is referred as a duchess. A duke/duchess regent may hold as many duchies and counties as they wish. They also must hold a comital keep in their capital county within their demesne.

Count:

A count is a fairly senior title of peerage within the Holy Kingdom of Ruska. Their demesne is a county. The female equivalent is a countess.

A county may consist of several baronies and towns of varying size, meaning that a county itself has no set size and may vary from very large to rather small. A count may also hold multiple counties, but is expected to distribute them equally among his legitimate pretenders upon his death.

A viscount is a fairly minor title of peerage that is as a lord of a viscounty. A viscount is only permitted to have one viscounty within his demesne. A viscount’s liege may only be a duke or be a direct vassal to the King of Ruska. A viscount is not able to create any holdings within the viscounty besides the Primary hold.

The most minor rank that a noble can attain. These are within the demesne of counts usually, dukes and occasionally the holy king himself. Barons are only allowed to own one barony. Baronies consist of a multitude of Estates. The female equivalent is Baroness.
