Definitions

Role-playing: Playing a role. Rather simple. You play the role of whatever character you choose to the best of your ability.

Meta-gaming: Using out of character information to your advantage in character, such as knowing OOCly that an army is marching towards your town, and using that information IC to tell everyone before you leave.
Power-emoting: Power-emoting/power-gaming would be doing things in character that you couldn’t normally do, such as gaining magical powers for no apparent reason.

In-Character Information:
Full Name: Liana Esdeline
Current Age: 136
Sub-race (if any): Dark Elf
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

Liana was born in Asulon somewhere in the forests around Malinor, with the only other members of her family being her mother and father. They were a young, happy couple that was newly wed, and the birth of their healthy daughter without any problems made their love and happiness all the more stronger.

Liana’s father made a living as a smith, forging and selling some of the finest iron weapons and leather armor around. Her mother on the other hand made a different type of armor, the fashionable kind. She was a tailor, her work mainly consisting of dresses, though she did often make other types of clothes, and sold them as well. Liana was taught what her parents knew, though she didn’t really excel in smithing, she did in tailoring. Her father did teach her the basics of fighting with a sword, but not anything to really turn her into a warrior, only enough to help her defend herself.

Liana had a fairly normal childhood, learning and playing what she could, when she could. At about the age of 17 she decided to go out on her own, to experience the world for what it was, and to attempt to make a name for herself. She decided to leave the kingdom of the Elves and to rent - for the time - a home in the human lands.

Liana reached the human lands by boat and found it to be quite pleasant, other than the occasional racism towards her because of her dusky skin and pointy ears, but most were pleasant to her. She lived there for quite some time, traveling between human cities to sell what clothing she could and offering her services to make custom-fit ones, slowly learning more and more about tailoring, though she never mastered it, which irked her the most.

She found that she loved traveling to Salvus the most, the once prosperous city, though once the war started she quickly left, and only returned after much time to find it a ghost-town, which deeply upset her. Liana learned of Emperor Godfrey’s intentions of the human lands and decided to travel back to the Elven kingdom, where she reunited with her parents and learned that in her time missing, they had another child.

Liana was ecstatic to find that she had a new little brother, and decided that she would live with them for the time, helping them raise the boy and pay for whatever taxes they received. It went on like this for quite some time, and eventually they all had to get on the boats to leave Asulon, and travel to Elysium and Kalos. Her time there was all a blur to her, filled with constant work and struggle, and it was all a relief when they finally left on the boats to Anthos, but that was when she was separated from her family, and whether they were left behind, or was on a different boat and couldn’t find her, she never knew.

Liana decided to wander, as her work simply didn’t bring her enough income to get a home somewhere, but did allow her to eat and sleep in inns as she traveled. To this day she has decided to travel around Anthos, perhaps make back the friends she lost and make a name for herself once more, at least that’s what she hopes to happen.

Ambitions for the Future: Liana doesn’t have much of a drive, though she does one day hope to find her parents and brother, but it doesn’t seem likely to her, and the idea of it sits in the back of her mind behind all of the current events, so she has contented herself with the idea of traveling between the different kingdoms.

Personality: Liana has a rather friendly personality, though the fact that she - surprisingly - hadn’t seen very much evil in her lifetime made her trust easy to get, which could easily be her downfall. She is also a sucker for romance, having read many, many love stories and wishing she could fall in love with a strapping man of her own.

Skills: Liana excels mainly in the making of clothes, and though she was taught many years ago to forge very simple things, what skill she had in smithing had dwindled down to nothing. She carries a short sword by her side at all times, but doesn’t know too much about how to use it. She /can/ use it, but she really isn’t what one would call a warrior.

Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Liana took after her mother’s pale pinkish eyes, along with her dusky skin color. With her hair, she took after her father’s long, black, silken hair. She wears a dress that she had made herself, and carries a satchel at her side at all times, along with her sword.

Open-Response-Questions
____

1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of older elves are mocking a small elven child. How do you react?

Answer: Liana blinks at the sight and walks over to inspect further, then frowns softly. She steps closer to the group and crosses her arms, “What’s going on here?” she arches a brow.
“Oh nothing miss, we’re just having a bit of fun with the boy, that isn’t wrong is it?” the older boy mumbles ‘innocently’ to Liana, then looks back to the smaller elven child.
“They’ve been picking on me all day, please make them stop..” the small boy sniffles, rubbing his eyes, promptly provoking a chuckle or a snigger from the others. Liana frowns softly as she walks over to take the child’s hand, “I will not let you verbally abuse this little one, now off to wherever you came from before I get really angry,” she warns them, and they grumble, deciding it would be too much trouble arguing with the persistent Dark Elven women before walking off in a group, snickering to each other.

2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?

Answer: Liana gasps softly as the man hits the ground, and doesn’t even seem to notice the coins at all as she drops to her knees to help the man up, “Are you okay, sir?” she asks.
“Y-Yes.. *cough* I’m quite alright, just a little trip.. Could you get my cane?” he nods over to the stick and Liana nods as she reaches down to take it, then hands it back to the old man.
“Do you need help getting home, or perhaps being taken to the nearest city or...” she’s cut off by the man, “Oh no no, I’ll be just fine, please. I think I’ll be on my way..” He begins walking off before Liana quickly gathers the gold and walks back up to the old man, “You almost forgot this,” she gives a friendly smile as she hands it to the man, and he smiles and nods, taking two of them out and handing them to her, “Here.. for your troubles, I haven’t met someone as nice as you in quite awhile..” Liana blinks, unable to help the wide grin that comes across her face at the compliment, then bows politely before she watches the man hobble away.

3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).

Answer: Liana can’t help but smile as she sees the several different types of cloths and dyed wools, which she had been hoping to find for quite some time. She had ran out of such supplies, and this was her little stroke of luck.

“Ah, I can see that you’re interested in my cloth and wools, aye?” he gives a toothy grin, and Liana nods, “Yes.. how much might they be?”

“Well the a whole roll is about two hundred minas, but I assume you’re not looking for a whole roll,” he chuckles, and Liana nods. “Hmmm.. They would go for about three minas a meter, four or five for some of the finer cloths,” the man looks over the several rolls he has, absently flipping them over to take a look at the ones underneath. Liana sighs, “Well I haven’t got very much to spend, and I’d really hope for a good meal and a bed tonight so..” she sighs, tapping her chin lightly, then smiles, “Alright I’ll take hmm.. five meters of this,” she places her hands on one of the rolls, “and seven meters of this,” she places her other hand on another roll.
“Well all together that would be..  forty three minas,” he smiles, then Liana pauses a moment to think, “Uhm.. well here, how about we make a trade instead of using minas?” The man shrugs and nods, “What do you have to offer?” Liana reaches into her satchel and pulls out a roll of cloth that she almost never uses, “The whole roll?” she tilts her head and the man pauses a moment, looking over his collection of cloths and wools before noticing that he doesn’t actually have that certain type of cloth, then smiles widely and nods, “Alright, you’ve got yourself a deal!” he continues smiling as he takes the cloth from Liana and begins cutting out and folding lengths of cloth from the other two rolls, then hands them to Liara. They both nod silently to each other before Liana walks off, stuffing away the folded cloth.
