hobbinrood 74 Share Posted September 7, 2013 Out-Of-Character Information The simplest section of the application! Simply answer these questions so we can get to know you a bit better. What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - hobbinrood How old are you?: - 15 What time-zone do you live in?: - Eastern Time Have you ever roleplayed before - if you have, how?: - I have indeed roleplayed before. I have played on Wynncraft, a different minecraft RP server, as well as playing RuneScape for many years of my life. I enjoy acting, therefore rp-ing a character is a lot of fun for me. Have you been on any other roleplaying servers?: - Yes - Wynncraft Have you applied to this server before?(Please link past applications): - How did you hear about us?: - YouTube videos and friends that play. What do you think the server will be like? – An in-depth, challenging roleplaying server with many different challenges and multiplayer interactions. Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - Of course! What’s your favourite rule / the rule you agree with the most?: - The rule I agree with the most is the cursing rule. With other RP servers and games I have played, cursing is not always allowed. When in the midst of an in-depth argument with a tax collecter, for example, and your character is fuming with anger, obviously he would swear at the “opponent”. It has been frustrating in the past to not be able to express my character’s feelings appropriately. Definitions This is simply so that we can get an understanding of how much you know about roleplaying. Feel free to Google the answers, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not another website / person's! What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is when a player plays the role, or acts as an in-game character. This in-game character acts as himself throughout his entire life, and not as the player controlling the character. What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is when a player, in roleplay, uses information that they know, but their character does not know. This may be the location of a town, or using the name of another character in their conversations. What’s powergaming?: - Powergaming is when a player states that his or her action towards another character is successful, without giving the other player time to respond to your action. In-Character Information Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play. What’s your character called?: - Hobbin Rood What race are they (and sub-race)?: - Human, Northerner What sex are they?: - Male How old are they?: - 42 Give us a brief description of their life - their story, childhood, family: - Hobbin Rood lived many years of his life by himself in Fairfield. He had a small hut there, and worked in the fields for a living. Often, after a hard day’s work, he would venture to a neighbor’s house, where an elderly man lived. The man taught Hobbin how to read and write. This was a skill that he cherishes still, to this day. Every time the landlord came to collect taxes, he was cruel and disrespectful to Hobbin. This made him an angry person. One day, while visiting his neighbor, he was told by the wise man that, “You are too wound up from that tax collector. You need to take a break, maybe an extended vacation, from this place. Go off! Adventure! Make some new friends!” Hobbin took these words to heart, and a few weeks later, he was off. He found himself in the town of Solace, working as a lumberjack’s assistant. He even got to see King Edwin Sheffield himself! This was a life that Hobbin was happy with. He spent many years in this place, and eventually took over the lumberjack’s job. But, as always, new things become old things, and fun things become boring. Hobbin found himself tired of his ‘new’ life, and decided that it was time to move on. Hobbin Rood was is the move, again. He ended up in a place called “The Wild’s Docks”. He had hopped aboard a ship, and hidden in a sack of potatoes. He found work as a barkeeper, but the tavern quickly went out of business. Now, Hobbin needs to start over, for the third time. What are they like (personality)?: - Hobbin is a rather shy, but knowledgeable person. He will never miss an opportunity to learn something new, no matter what the skill is. Although he is a rather wary person, if you get to know him, he can be pretty fun to talk to. Hobbin enjoys adventuring almost as much as he does learning. He can never seem to stay in one place for too long, for he is always thriving to discover something new. What are their ambitions?: - As stated earlier, Hobbin loves to learn. He would like to eventually, once he is done adventuring, find a place among the elves to settle down and learn the skill of magic. In the meantime, though, he wants to adventure. Learning more about the world around him makes Hobbin feel more secure and safe, as well as knowledgeable. Do they have any special skills?: - Hobbin learned basic school-like skills, such as reading and writing, as a child. In his free time, he has spent many hours fishing for fun. Because of all this time put into fishing, he has become a pretty accomplished fisherman. Although there is a large portion of luck in fishing, Hobbin knows just when to set the hook, and a few key spots where the fish like to “hang out”. What are their weaknesses?: - Although he is pretty good with a bow, Hobbin has never really used a sword. At all. When challenged, he usually backs down. When attacked, he likes to keep his distance and use a bow. Because of this lifestyle, close-range melee is not his favorite thing to be involved in. Give us a description of how they look (not a screenshot yet!)?: - Anything else you want to say about them?: - Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: - Fantastic, there you go. No need to write any more - simply post this on our forums (and on MinecraftForum like it says above) and wait!
ski_king3 0 Share Posted September 7, 2013 Congratulations, glad to see you accepted onto the server. The one thing I would note with your application is that Edwin Sheffield would have been dead by the time your character was born. Other than that, everything was good :) I would also recommend visiting the following links to make yourself a bit more knowledgeable about the server and roleplay in general: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/index.php?title=The_Ancient_History - The Ancient History http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/83914-lotc-official-rp-vs-rpg-why-your-character-is-not-perfect/ - Why Your Character Is Not Perfect http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/77226-lotc-official-guide-to-not-getting-yourself-banned-within-your-first-month-of-playing/ - How to Not Get Banned http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/49355-the-lord-of-the-craft-staff-list/ - Our Staff I look forward to seeing you on the server!
