PtahWithin 1320 Share Posted October 15, 2013 The Mali’lumi Ethic The moral degradation of the Mali race in the past several decades has brought the sons and daughters of Malin into immeasurable personal and global peril - whether from within or without. Therefore, the reimplementation of the moral standards which in our first home of Laurelin were near-universal is not just necessary: it is required. This Ethic was never directly stated or written down in the times of Aegis: so held for granted it was, so common. Now, merely stating we must be as we were in Laurelin is not enough. The Ethic must be defined and inscribed, and those who reject it in Luminaire shall have no place in Malinor, just as those who rejected it in Laurelin had no place in Malin’s nation. Every resident of Malinor, to be considered Mali’lumi, an elf of shining morality, must follow the Ethic. To be Mali’lumi is to have a great compassion for your people, your nation and your first father, Malin. All should aspire to abide by these simple principles. The Mali'lumi Ethic Respect for the laws of Malin and Malinor. The proper citizen will understand the authority behind the High Council. However, a proper citizen may also freely voice their thoughts so long as they are not unlawful. This also means that one must make themselves aware of those very same laws, and confer their knowledge upon others in Malinor if the case may be that an ignorant one is found. Reverence and protection of any child. In many ways Iblees’ brand upon our line is a curse, but in one chief way it is almost a blessing. It instills within us an absolute compulsion to protect and cherish what children we have. For this reason, the children of Malinor are the best cared for, educated and raised of all the descendant races. Though you may not be a parent, to protect and help a child is the highest of noble deeds. Good works for the prosperity and security of the nation. Many are the routes to satisfy this moral. One may join the Lumidrim, and rank among the brave and brazen few who will do whatever is necessary to ensure Malinor as a sanctuary of peace. One may become a laborer on behalf of the nation, and tend to the fields or livestock, or other similar venues of resource. One may also bring their craft to all citizens of Malinor in the form of shops, to sell your wares and your skill. There are many other ways to perform good works, for the ruling guideline is simply a form of service not to yourself, but to something far greater than yourself: Malin’s race. Abhorrence of unwarranted conflict and vagrant persons. If Malinor is to become a place of absolute peace, a proper citizen should be able to identify rogue elements and refer their nature to the authorities. One is never not involved in a situation one shall witness. Passion for justice and reparation. One must also recognize that violence is a necessary tool in removing violence from our streets: such is the function of the Lumidrim, to be the caretakers of our garden that shall swiftly excise that which is rotten and diseased. And those elves who carry such putrid souls are to never be tolerated, for they represent a fracture in our society through which shall pour all the loathsome vomit of evil. The above are merely the guidelines for being the proper citizen of Malin’s nation and are not per se ‘enforced’. What is enforced, however, by the Lumidrim are the following laws, contained in the Contrary Actions and Abhorrent Actions. Depending on the circumstance, a high-ranking officer of the Lumidrim and the High Council shall determine punishment for those who commit a Contrary Action. This could be a fine, temporary banishment, required community service or several other possibilities. In addition, to have attempted to enact any of these Actions is just as to have actually done it. To commit an Abhorrent Action, however, is to give oneself no chance of redemption. Burn in blazing and screaming nether fire, Varsele. The Contrary Actions Assault on another. Abuse of another’s body or mind. Theft, tampering or destruction of property or works. Unseemingly and disorderly actions. Displays of bodily intimacy in a public area or within earshot of one. Obstructing the authority of the Lumidrim or High Council. Wearing identity-concealing items of clothing within the city. Entering the city knowing that one is banished, or through means of deceit, infiltration or force. The Varsele Even though many would rejoice at the calling back to the Aegisian conduct of the Mali race, there are those to whom these Ethics are nought but ash and smoke. They are Varsele - those who have rejected all rights to Malinor, to the Mali race and to our father Malin, and hence are exiled and to be slain on sight. They are those who are branded for crimes that none of the three aforementioned could ever forgive. They may be the flesh and blood of Malin, but the Varsele are as empty to his soul as the shambling corpses of the night. They are without moral, motive or mind. The Varsele are to be known by a mark in bright red placed above their right eye. Know it well, and be wary in the presence of such a sight. For you walk amongst the destitute and desolate. The Abhorrent Actions The assault, abuse and murder of any child. There is no amount of kindness in the world that can fill the callous pit of your soul. Children are Malin’s rare gift to our race, and to do anything to take that gift away is an absolute evil. The consumption of the flesh, blood and bones of sentient races. Truly now the inner beast shows itself in you, Varsele, damned and deranged. Consorting with and worshipping the Wretched Powers: Iblees, Setherien and obscure others. Sunlight dare not touch you, so resonant with these vile presences you are. Involvement in the planned or attempted usurpation of the Malinorian Government, promoting dissension into anarchy and lawlessness. This is the Nation of Malin, and you who would seek to topple it have no place within our walls. Torture or possession of other sentient beings as property. Varsele, you seem to misunderstand your place amongst things of the world. It is you who are the slave of wretchedness, and you who are its canvas of wound and fear to carve. Murder with sadistic and egocentric intent. You may try to quell your screaming soul with blood, Varsele, but it is to no avail. Or, would you be so weak inside as to take lives for grudge, vendetta and insult? It is the liquid of blood you may seek, Varsele, but we shall see if your thirst shall be sated by the water of your own tears. Nameless Crimes, so horrible they remain beyond our capacity to imagine. Ratified by the High Council of Malinor
