A Question About Landscarring And Permadeath

Hello, I have 2 questions: 1 is about landscarring (or-whether or not my action counts as it) and 1 is about permakilling a character, here we go:

1. I was just on the server, chopping down a tree near a cliff, the only issue is that I do not know whether the leaves connecting belonged to this tree or the one next to it, I remember reading that if you chop down a tree you need to re-plant it, would this count as landscarring since for all I know, it could have been a free-standing log (there are several already in this area).

2. During the course of the above action, I fell off the cliff and died, does this count as suicide/permakill?

Any assistance is appreciated, panicked when I died because I was afraid of getting banned due to landscarring, I had bonemeal ready to go in order to replace the tree too, just not a sappling.

1) You need to remove any and all leaves to that tree itself, no other tree's leave. and you must replant.

2) Falling from a cliff accidently with no RP or as you said Panicking is not permadeath

3)Have a great day

1. According to the rules, you only need to take all the wood and leaves away. I don't think replanting is required, but it is recommended. I don't think it would also be land-scarring, but it may be best to fix it.

This is what the rules say:

If you're out chopping down some trees, take all the leaves and wood away with you - don't leave them floating behind! Just think, you might even get an apple or two from them.

2. To my knowledge, a suicide is normally done with role-play and you have a one week grace period to resurrect your character.

Once again from the rules:

You don't need to permanently kill your character when you die. However, if you commit suicide, your character is perma-killed. When you die, you simply go back to the Cloud Temple and forget all memory of the death. You can't go back to where you died for a full thirty minutes. If you perma-kill your character, you have a one week grace period in which you can return your character from the dead. After the one week is over, your character can no longer be brought back from the grave.

Hope this helps.

thank you both, now I gotta go buy/find a sapling, find some bones/bonemeal and re-plant that tree.

EDIT: btw when I said I panicked, I meant post-death, I fell because I was cutting leaves and facing away from the ledge, thanks for clearing that up anyway.

As far as I know, you do not need to replant the tree unless it does not belong you to. Nothing stops you from clearing out a small forest/grove.

If it's still unclear you under NO circumstances need to permakill your character EVER. However, make sure that if your character is faced with death (perma or otherwise) that they don't know that they will be resurrected by the monks - even if they know it's a possibility. Because you just never know.
