A woman walked, hair covered in soot, filled with leaves, her skin was almost as black as the night, any facial tattoos or birthmarks were covered with thick dirt, and scabs, deep scars lined the arms of the figure, a tattered dress covered her barely.  Red eyes shone from under all the grime, which contrasted from the overly long fingernails.  The figure was small, well small for an elf, for so the creature seemed.

It was followed by a large beast, it seemed to be a dog, but the fur was matted, filled with soil, and broken branches, leaves scattered all along the shaggy coat.  Blue eyes contrasted from its owners, large white fangs shown from under the lips.

The figure was a female, one that usually was elegant, and sweet, however she had spent forever in the woods, and her looks had turned more feral than they would have been had she been left home.  She remembered who she was, she knew everything, the only thing different was her form, overly thin, almost demonesque.  It wasn’t her fault she had not had much to eat when she got lost, her once white hair not the color of starlight anymore, now it was the color of a muddy river.

Her feet left small bloody marks everywhere as she moved, proof of how long she had been gone.  She smiled slightly as she started to see more familiar scenes.  Rocks she had played with when she was young, trees she had climbed.

She reached down to grab a red collar of the creature next to her and picked up her pace, her cracked lips smiling as she realized how close to home she was.  She was excited, she was going to be safe soon, she would be able to see the father she rarely talked to, to see Tyrnal...her cheeks flushed under the cracked mud, she had missed him.

The woman kept moving, keeping to the shadows until she heard a noise, a child giggling and she turned to see the little boy, laughing as he sat in a tree, his mother watching him.  The huge creature next to the girl started to wag its tail and barked.  The mother grabbed her son  and screamed.  And that was when it happened.

The woman felt a thud, a solid object colliding with her, and she stumbled, only to hear her pet snarl and try to jerk away to attack whatever had caused the object to hit her.  The woman tried to hold her creature back, but for some reason stumbled, falling to her knees.

It was odd….she never was that weak, her pet never faught that hard….what was wrong, had she lost her strength in the wild, that must have been it.  However then it hit her, the noise of screaming, she turned her head from side to side, wanting to see who was in enough pain to scream like a dying animal.  No one was around, her creature returned to her and whined softly.

The woman realized she felt heavy, she tried to get up and failed, not able to move her legs.  She also noted there felt like an object was stuck to her, she reached her hand down to try to grab it, only to fail, raising her hand she noticed it was wet...and red.

Her eyes opened wide as she looked down, to see an arrow piercing her chest, and then the pain hit her, and the realization, no one was in trouble, no one was dying….except her.

“It hurts….”  She whispers to the creature as clouds start to fill the sky, blood flowing everywhere as she slowly stands up, staggering towards the city, it was within sight...there where the shops….why did no one hear her screams….

The woman looked around only to see an elf standing in front of her, bow at the ready.

She reached out one hand, the nails seeming more like claws as she stumbled towards him, tears running down her face, only to realize in horror, he was raising a bow towards her, her pet jumped into action but to late, the arrow was fired.  Pain hit her again as she fell to the ground, her eyes wide as she lay there, an arrow embedded her heart.  She began to go cold, her breath raspy as her creature stopped mid attack and ran to her.  She slowly reached up her hand and pressed it against the creature, before going limp, her lips parting slightly as she breathed her last breath.

The creature sat next to its owner, leaning its head back and howling.  The girl lay there, as rain suddenly started to pour from the sky, washing away the soot and dirt from the face of the girl, the hunter moving closer only to realize his mistake.  An elf girl lay there, her hand on a large wardog, blood staining her chapped lips, her tattoos visible after a few minutes in the rain, the Oussana tattoo visible on her back from one of the rips of her dress.

The elf threw down his bow in disgust as he backed up, bile rising in his throat, he realized...he not only had killed a young girl, but one of Khel’s offspring.

The large wardog continued to howl, before starting to guard the body, refusing to let any near, protecting the delicate body of his owner.  The broken girl, who lay there, the rain running down her face like tears, tears of regret.
