  13. Amidst a pile of wooden boxes packed to the brim with various items, dust free spots on the walls where paintings once hung a young elfess sits in her chair reading of the news. She reads it over multiple times before dropping the paper sitting back in her chair as she looks back on someone she called a friend, called a fellow Brother. One of the first people she met in this new world outside her parents home. Looking over to the boxes she also thinks of the future, the ripples such an event would have on countless lives, she thought of the stories that would be told of the Brashton. Giving her head a shake and coming to a stand, her eyes falling to her bow before hearing the sounds of the sheep she had inherited when the woman had uplifted her roots. “I know wherever she is, she’s looking out over a green pasture, sheep that touch the horizon.” She leans over blowing out a candle as the room goes dark.
  14. VERITAS — THE FIRST COMPETITION OF ARCHERY — "The archer is the true weapon; the bow is only a long piece of wood." OVERVIEW Since its inception, archery has been a favored tool of the hunter and warrior alike. To oppose an enemy from afar ensures the opposer’s preserved state of safety . Though it is often referred to as a coward’s trade by those with shaky hands, it takes a true talent to wield a stringed weapon, because a true marksman would hit its mark each time. Prove your talents among marksmen alike in the upcoming tournament of arms in Veritas. THE RULES - Contestants are to bring their own weaponry, either crossbow or a traditional bow, whichever suits them. - Contestants will take turns on the marks, approximately 50 feet from target, shooting three arrows per turn. - Contestants should not shoot their bows prematurely, rather upon command of the facilitator. - Contestants are to retrieve their own arrows as a courtesy to the next marksman. - In the case of a tie, there should be additional rounds for those who tied until a winner can be decided. THE SPOILS A handful of spoils should be set aside and allotted to the winner and those runner-ups of the competition, including a prize pool of mina and a special item for the winner. 1st : 25 MINA & A HANDCRAFTED BOW 2nd : 15 MINA 3rd : 10 MINA [OOC] Tuesday, 4/6/21 @ 7PM EST
  15. Family is everything The bright sun shined through the window signaling the start of a new day. The Palmer youth awoke naturally as he did most days, wiping the crud out of his eyes as he stifled a yawn sitting up in the bed. Most mornings he didn't think of much, perhaps his mother would cross his mind, or the list of things to be done for the day. Or perhaps a girl he seen the day prior, it mattered not. He had a job todo and it would be executed as all others. He comes to a stand pulling his uniform top over himself he found himself thinking of the home he never knew Helena, the place he could never return, and the mother that saved him from a terrible fate. He continued to dress himself looking out the window briefly thoughts still racing as he straightens his uniform and reaches for the beret that laid on the bookshelf. Dusting it off he is taken back to his youth in Providence, but mostly his cousin Cosimo which led him to think of his other mother Giada. He hadn't thought of her much since her passing, not from a lack of trying as much as a lack for being able to deal with it, but he knew her loss cut deeper for his cousin. "Perhaps I should send him a bird later, I still owe him for that drink" He lets out a chuckle placing the beret on his head as he ascended the stairs to his upper floor. What is a man? The youth stifles another yawn as he reaches for the door handle to the realm of the outside world. What could be behind that door? Would today be the last day he opened it? Could the same be asked for those he loves? Again it mattered not to him only the duty he must carry out, all other questions would be answered by his actions. He continued to wrestle with the thoughts of his mother, before the face of Gino appeared in his mind. He didn't understand the connection before it dawned on him, he had seen that man around Giada. Though in his younger years he couldn't connect the dots if he was given a map. "What is a man?" He spoke opening the door with a shake of his head, closing it behind him he pulls out a pack of cigarettes placing one between his lips before sparking a match and igniting the smoke with a brief inhale tossing the match into a pot outside his home. He looks around the streets as he walks toward the market tucking his free hand into his pocket.
  16. Yuelena read over the missive quietly before looking off giggling some as she remembered the last encounter. "Watching those men flee the city with their tail between their legs was quite the sight" she crumples up the paper tossing it onto her fire using it as kindling to cook her meal.
  17. Yuelena sits in her loft as she reads over the letter, then reads over it again and then a third time. She places it on the table infront of her as she pulls the pipe to her lips taking a drag from it holding the smoke briefly then exhaling. "Don't worry Astrid we will see each other again. We always find a way of bumping into each other." With this she puts her pipe out picking the letter back up and placing it neatly in a box to her side, along with a few other letters, a dagger, and a simple flower. "After all I still have to make you my newest tea recipe" She stands before letting out a deep breath and strolling off to bed her shoulders seeming a little heavy and possibly a tear rolling down her face.
  18. Don't listen to them you're doing god's work
  19. Though our time together was short I appreciate what you have done for both Yuelena and myself, I enjoyed the RP we did together it started to get me out of my shy approach to LOTC. It's sad to see you leave but I wish you luck in your future endeavours.
  20. Yuelena sits in her chair over looking the waters of Sutica "Was it all necessary? Was it all worth going against the code?" she ponders as she looks out the window. A book lay in her lap with scribblings on fire evocation she had apparently been looking over before the thoughts begun to take hold. "Why did I do it?" a tear begins to roll down her face.
