Edict of Abretta Clarification on the Marcher Lords in Balian 2nd, of Lothar’s End of 91 B.A Since the founding of Balian, no true model of what a Marques is has been documented or formalised, with this document, it is the Crown’s hope that we can establish what a Marques is and how one should achieve such a position within the Kingdom of Balian. It is important to understand what Marques are for such documentation. A Marques is a noble peerage where the family in question is considered to be one of a militaristic nature and has been given the role of ensuring the fortification and protection of a portion of Balianese land. It is their directive to hold the very land they are placed on and direct the nation’s forces should those areas be threatened by the enemies of the Crown. In Balian we will be implementing a Marcher Lord system, in which a Marques is not a ranking of its own. Any rank of noble may be pronounced a ‘Marq Lord’ if they are considered to be a militaristic family who is capable of holding defence of their surrounding land and owns a fort of which they can direct defences from. The official title they hold will be Marq- followed by their official standing within nobility, for example, the Marq-Barón of Portoregne. They may style themselves as their Marq- title, a Marques or as their non-Marq- title and may switch between these at any time they wish to do so. They will also be given aid in building their fort and a degree of leniency when it comes to the dimensions of their land in order to ensure that their fort-home is considered defensible enough to hold true when time comes for it to be used. This title, as with all titles of a noble, is given and taken at will by the Crown and is completely up to their discretion. A house may appeal to the Crown if they believe that they are deserving of a Marq status, but it will not be given if the Crown does not believe the Peerage worthy of such. Edict of Rosemoor Introduction of Peerage Jobs 2nd, of Lothar’s End of 91 B.A In order to assure that the Balianese Peerage always have something that they can work with and are always working towards, the Crown has deemed the creation of Vocaciós to be a necessity. This will become a new and innovative system that ensures Peerages and Crown have a symbiotic and beneficial relationship. Each peerage will be given a Vocació which will be discussed with them, and with this they will be given jobs to do a quota to fulfil every two Years. These Vocaciós will be separated into three categories: Granja-Don: Peers who own farmland they maintain and control and are responsible for providing both animal and agricultural products to the Crown. Comerciant-Don: Peers who have proven themselves capable and skilled merchants, it is their job to provide either items for the Crown to sell or a set amount of mina. Mineria-Don: Peers who live near mines and quarries and routinely mine, it is their responsibility to provide crates of the various minerals and ores that the Crown may require. Each of these must meet a quota every two years which befits their role in Balian as per the Vocació they have been given. These must be met as per the ruling of this edict or face potential punishment, however those who go above and beyond will be rewarded greatly by the Crown of Balian. This document is one of guidance for both the Crown, Peers and those who aspire to become nobility, however while this shall be followed closely by the Crown, it is at the Crown’s discretion as to when they honour their subjects with titles. The Queen of Balian surveryed her lands, proud of the accomplishment. However as she watched the remaining attackers flee she thought for some moments about the morality of killing the footsoldiers whom only followed orders, however it soon escaped her, she had a people to protect.

Balianese Land Grant 90 BA 5h of Lothar’s Gift of 90 B.A After some negotiations an agreement has been made between the Kingdom of Balian and Institución de Alquimia to be given land within the bounds of the Kingdom. The following are the terms for such a land charter. Institución de Alquimia will have a forty by forty metre sized parcel of land within the bounds of the Kingdom of Balian. This land shall be used as a lab and a base of operations for the Institución de Alquimia The Order will pay a tax of thirty five mina per annum for the land they use, and should they miss two years of taxes they shall be evicted like any other land owner within the nation. The Institución de Alquimia will recruit from the denizens of Balian for new alchemists. Those considered worthy shall be submitted to the Head Alchemist for review of whether they are truly worthy. Should the Crown require any alchemical assistance, they shall be able to request such from the institución de alquimia in return for aiding in getting the needed herbs. Yesterday, a cowardly attack came upon the Kingdom of Balian.
