It shall be hosted as a bracket tournament, so those who wish to participate are encouraged to sign up prior to ensure they have a slot amongst the combatants. What do you think your characters would do in the modern day?

I don't think anyone should take this as a diss nor a confession, it's a conversation that LOTC and LOTCers need to have. Far too many times have I seen people stress out far more than they should over RP. It's taken a while but I think I personally found a much more healthy outlook on the server and its RP in the last six months or so. I'm certain everyone can get there, it's just a matter of honesty with yourself and others.

I can't fault a point you make. Morality IRP and Morality OOC are too vastly different things. A player can RP our the most devilish evil creature that would ever exist and be a genuinely good person OOCly, but some people will OOCly view them as a bad person for the RP. I'm guilty of this before and I think most if not all players have fallen into this sense of person X is evil because they do action Y or fight for person Z. It's a trap that many fall into and it really ruins the enjoyment of LOTC and RP.

However a fact and an opinion are two ultimately very different things. If you truly hold care for life, then you wouldn't have signed off an excommunication, an act mind you in clear violation of Canon Law which stipulates Canon Princes shouldn't be upon the Curia or involved in Church politics. A young heir to Balianese nobility read upon what the King has said. Since the war she had been confined to her keep, away from her friends and with little more than study and siblings to keep her company. Many days she had questioned why this was necessary, however upon reading the missive she understood. Swiftly she sought for her mother, if justice needed a helping hand, surely hers could count for something.

Jiri cleaned his blade of the blood that stained it during the railings of the day. As he did so he thought of the Prince, a man who actually stood and fought where many wouldn’t have at all. Caliope would stare at the missive, despite the prior letter, she could not stand to think that her twin brother would turn his back on the family in such a devilish manner. Hence she would send a letter to reach out to Malcolm.

“Odd way to announce being captured but alright…” Caliope mused of her fellow bard, immediately moving to pray that he would quickly be freed or saved.

The Intentional Schisming of the Faith ✦ Since the beginning of this conflict, the Church and its allies have perpetuated a falsehood that the nations they seek to overthrow are the only ones who have acted aggressively or in a manner that befits the war we find ourselves in. However, the Church in its current corrupted and astray nature has lied to all, they have committed many crimes and sins themselves, harming and causing great strife for the Canonist Princes who now stand against their tyranny. It is of high importance that the various nations and realms of Aevos understand why we fight this fight now, so that they will not fall victim to lies of the enemy. b. The Association with Pagan States ✦ This Church themselves have a singular Canonist Prince ally and have a host of pagans who aid their corrupt attempts to grasp for power over the nations of canondom. It is not we who wish to destroy canondom, but the Pontificate and the apostates and heretics they surround themselves with, those who do not embody the values of canonism nor accept GOD as their Lord and Saviour. While the Church as an institution is by no means one of corruption, it is those that currently possess power and sway within that have been corrupted by their drive for power and wealth that are. c. The coup of Aaun & imperialist ambitions ✦ This Church has been systematically attempting to bring down and overthrow the Kingdoms of canon. The first and most true victim of this cycle was the Kingdom of Aaun, where the Pontiff Fleeperus I took regency and refused to allow for the rehabilitation of the Alstion family nor their subjects. This went so far as to destroy the capital city of Whitespire, and the reorganisation of the Kingdom into the Holy Pontifical States, with the Pontiff acting as a King with vassals and political interests, rather than a Pontiff with unbiased opinions and a wish to aid all canonists. We have seen this repetition of History in the following regency of Balian, who was led by the church at the same time Aaun was taken over, and now with the attempted grasp for power over Hanseti-Ruska. No longer is this an impious ruler in need of guidance; this is a pattern of behavior on the Church’s end. d. The Political Corruption of the Tar of Numendil & Conflicts of Interest ✦ One of the core tenets, a basis of Canon law, is that a Canonist Prince should not sit upon the Curia of the Church, nor should they play politics within the Curia. For years now, the Tar of Numendil, Anorhil, has sat upon the Curia, leading and negotiating several key meetings of the Church. Whether intentional or not, the Tar has shown bias against Haense and other Kingdoms, actively shouting and screaming at King Joren I while supposedly mediating for rehabilitation and peace. ✦ • ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── • ✦ II. THE TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST THE KINGDOM OF HANSETI-RUSKA ✦ a. The Excommunication of King Karl IV ✦ The Dual Kingdoms of Haenseti-Ruska have found themselves more recently a victim of the Church’s lust for power and control. King Karl IV, signed with the Vinovian Company an agreement to both trade and train together, a standard and common treaty with such groups, possibly unknown to him, they had alternative plans in which they wished to tear down the Mother Church. Despite the arguments of the Church, several times did the Vinovians attack the city of Nau Valdev, permanently scarring and harming several of its citizens. As such, King Karl IV opted to sign an admonishment of these people, seeking to atone for being led astray by the lies of the brigands. However, once the man has passed into the Seven skies, the Church opted to strike at him, excommunicating him for sins he had already atoned for. b. The Undue Punishment of King Joren I ✦ With no living man to punish, they attempted to excommunicate King Joren I for the sins of his brother, refusing his coronation and demanding several terms be met, including the Curia take over of the Aulic council and the immediate end of several ancient and important Haeseni traditions. Such acts go against the core canonist tenet of ‘Not punishing the son for the sins of the father’, a value simply stating one should not punish a person for the sins of another. None would accept such a hostile overthrow of their nation. c. Diplomatic Aggression towards Hanseti-Ruska ✦ Even prior to the beginning of the tribunals and charges, the Curia relentlessly referred to the Dual Kingdoms as ‘the enemy’, constantly showing that they have always harbored animosity and intentions to aggress, and furthermore demonstrating their intent to overthrow the Kindom of Hanseti-Ruska prior to any tribunals or summits. d. The Plots to Assassinate King Joren I & Prince Hogmund ✦ Thanks to the courageous words and honesty of Prince Hogmund of Haense, it has come to the understanding of the Haeseni Crown that there has been a plot to assassinate the King of Haense, Joren I. Alongside this, the Olivier de Rouen of the Duchy of Alba had promised to raise a levy of supposed Savoyards in order to achieve this goal. Such vile and uncanonist plots and schemes should not have been tolerated by the Curia, yet it is believed that they had a part to play within this plot, especially with the Duchy of Alba under their eye and control. ✦ • ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── • ✦ III. THE TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST THE KINGDOM OF BALIAN ✦ a. The Threats Made Against King Alexander II & Queen Lavanya ✦ While the discussions of overthrowing the Pontificate were not acceptable and remain admonished, let us explain what led to this because such has been unaddressed. During a meeting surrounding the attempted overthrow of the Kingdom of Aaun by the Ravenmire leader, Tiberias van Aert, Queen Lavanya, wife to King Alexander II was threatened by the Pontiff Fleeperus I, who was then a cardinal. For the mere act of shearing a sheep, he threatened both death and excommunication of the woman, who was also with child at the time, in a show of rage unbecoming a Shepherd of man. b. The Excommunication of Balian and the Extended Regency ✦ During the regency of Balian, led in by the good Cardinal Ivan Lotharia, several times did the Pontificate lie and mislead the Duana of Balian on how or when a successor would be appointed. The council that was suggested by the Pontiff himself was ignored, the will of the people admonished as sheep led astray, the penance of King John II extended without a reason. This left the Kingdom of Balian internally unstable for many years, and weakened the power of its legislative and executive branches. Instead, this power was held by the Church. c. The Actions of Father Ledicort ✦ Father Ledicort, born of House Vuiller, has consistently acted in a nature that can only be described as childish and not befitting of the Clergy. Both threatening and rude to King John II and acting in a manner within the Senate of Balian to undermine the King and his position. He has also made it a point to more than once request and outright demand a position on the Duana of Balian, a clear strive for more power that is unbefitting of a man meant to serve GOD. Additionally, Father Ledicort has hosted multiple Owynist rites within Balian, which shows little regard for both the traditionally Orthodox practices of the Bishopric of Lotharia, as well as Balian’s religious foundation being based in Exalted Sigismund.. d. The Actions of Robert de Rouen ✦ Ear-shearing, an act that has been admonished and made illegal has been perpetuated by Robert of Ulmsbottom on the Balian citizen Elisii, remaining unpunished as the cowardly Prince Edward refuses to acknowledge such. e. The Demotion of Cardinal Ivan ✦ Finally, the Church of Canon saw fit to demote the good Cardinal Ivan Lotharia from his position of Cardinal merely for leaving a trial early. Cardinal Ivan has served the church for many years and has dedicated his life to cleansing the world of darkspawn. Additionally, he faithfully led as Balian’s church-appointed regent and had no fault found within his leadership capabilities. It is a blatant fact that this was not due to his exit from the trial, but because he did not follow the script that the corrupt Church wished for him to follow. ✦ • ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── • ✦ IV. THE TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST THE COMMONWEALTH OF PETRA✦ a. The Ivori Occupation of Notrebanc ✦ Notrebanc, a parcel of land that ought to have been returned unto the Commonwealth of the Petra in the Independence of Hokhmat, of which the Church said they would respect. However it is now that the Ivorians run rampant upon this land, claiming it as their own principality under the control of the Pontifical State, a promise broken by those who should lead by example. b. The Brigandry of St. Jude ✦ For decades did the Commonwealth of The Petra suffer under the constant and tireless attempts by the Order of Saint Jude to harass and assault their citizens in actions that can only be held tantamount to acts of brigandry befitting mercenaries. Despite the pleas and attempt to end such senseless violence and aggression, the Petran people were left to suffer under the ignorant and corrupt eye of the Pontificate’s soldiers. With the disbanding of the Order and formation of the Pontifical Army, it was expected that such would end and that the citizens would be able to live in peace once more. However, this was ultimately not the case whatsoever, the Pontifical Army continued to perpetuate this behaviour leading to the citizenry of Petra continuing to live in a state of unease, never too sure when the next harassment would come from the men driven by their power. c. The False Promises of Unbiased Mediation ✦ Nonetheless, the Commonwealth remained trusting in the wisdom of faith, seeking to negotiate and mediate non aggression between the Church and Celia’nor after a false flag attack that seemed to paint Celia’nor as an enemy of the faith. This was never followed up with and ignored thereafter, a betrayal of the duties of the Peacemaking body the Curia should be. This is not the only occasion of this, the Arch-Chancellor met to arrange a path forward with peace in mind with the Curia. A letter from the Tar of Numendil claimed such charges would be lessened only for outrageous demands to be made of the Haenseni King, yet another betrayal of trust. ✦ • ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── • ✦ V. THE TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST THE KINGDOM OF HYSPIA✦ a. The Krugistani Threats against Hyspia ✦ Since the time of Viceroy Cesar II, the Urukim have made it clear that they wish to see the destruction and death of the Kingdom of Hyspia and all their people. Several attempts, raids and attacks have been made for this, each one thwarted by the canonist Princes that support their Hyspian brethren. b. The Defense of Krugistan ✦ However, now the Church has deemed it fit that they shall support such acts, aiding in the signing of a pact that punished the Hyspians merely for where they wished to live, accepting the Pagan Orcs’ deluded belief that they should hold hegemony over the deserts of Aevos. Money, materials and clemency has been afforded to these marauders who wish for nothing but the death of the pious people of Hyspia, and yet the Church has stood by and supported them in such. ✦ • ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── • ✦ VI. THE TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST THE PRINCIPALITY OF CELIA’NOR✦ a. The Puppeteering of Cauróst & Defense of House Nullivari & Krugistan ✦ Finally, a great ally to our Canonist Princes and a clear paragon of justice and virtue, the Principality of Celia’nor has opted to join the war to defend Haense from the false Crusade for not only the aid of their allies but their own reasons.
