“By Bones and Barrows.”
Per Ossa et in Barcis
Issued by the Duchy of Reutov
5th of The Grand Harvest, 216 S.A.
To his Royal Majesty and the esteemed peers of the Kingdom of Balian,
I write to you, sound of mind, to inform of my formal abdication and confirmation as one Heinrik Matyas var Ruthern as my rightful heir and successor to the titles associated with the Duchy of Reutov. I hereby relinquish all rights, privileges, and so forth that once came with my title as Duchess of Reutov.
For long have I served the Kingdom of Balian and her people, sworn under both GOD and oath by three reigning monarchs. With determination and standard set by my father, Demetrius var Ruthern, I climbed the ranks of the Balianese regiment and found myself not only promoted to lieutenant, but later a member of the Royal Guard, and thereafter Grand Creu. These years were some of my most active, with various achievements I will continue to hold dear in memory.
It is now with my climbing age that I must recognize my time on this realm as fleeting. Were I to remain as Duchess any longer, it is without a doubt that I would be doing House Ruthern a great disservice, dragging down not only my fellow peers, but, most importantly, my children. It is time I acknowledge my ailing health, and that while I cannot stand tall forever, I will remain proud to have served my nation for as long as GOD has granted me.
It is my earnest hope that my eldest son, Heinrik, will serve the House Ruthern far better than I have, following in the footsteps of both my father and his father before him.
In addition, I will be retiring from my role as Grand Creu, to allow for a new, promising generation to take stand. It is with a hand over my heart that I write my most sincere thanks for the opportunities I have been granted.
Signed,
Dame Viktoria 'The Obstinate' Carosa vas Ruthern, Cavalier of the Royal Orders of Chivalry
His Grace, Heinrik Matyas var Ruthern, Duke of Reutov
