  1. Muscle memory, manual dexterity and strength in general takes time to train. Months for those actively making the attempts.
  2. Combat application of any and all healing should not undo limb removal, fatal wounds and broken bones. Once a player has been disabled by an injury in conflict, healing of any variety should be about stabilizing the player and allowing them to retain the knowledge gained through the encounter. Not getting them back into the fight. Using healing magic should also disable the healer, when the wounds of the fallen are disabling, regardless of tier. Outside of conflict, I do not think it's a huge issue for healing magic to, over quite some time, heal non-fatal wounds. Anything regrown / healed should see hastened degradation, should be weaker than what was before it and should lose quite a bit of coordination. A greater emphasis needs to be placed on the imperfect nature of healing magic and those that currently RP healing magic should be observed, at random, to address the 2-emote fix-alls. Overall, I feel that healing magic should be a lesser and more imperfect solution to wounds. No resources are required, risk of failed medical treatment is passed over and knowledge of what magics can and can not do is lacking in quite a few players, the mages themselves at times. Even when unintentional, allowing players to quickly and effortlessly undo something only cheapens the experience.
  3. "Stagnant water, rotted flesh, bile and shite as far as the eye can see. Cursed, The Maw. Why would anyone willingly reside there?" The rift, a distortion fueled by blood, by sacrifice, began its writhing inward climb. Shadows dance and shift, orange hue casted over the fragmented remnants of culture long forgotten. A space once sacred, a place of respite for the dead, now a birthing ground of undeath and perverse mutation. Men, their forms wrapped in shadow, took to the walls. Present one moment, gone the next, they paced the crimson spattered canals of the damned, descending ever deeper into this mundane hell. For days, weeks, Ravens resided in the jaw of the beast. Watched on as the Hivemind manifested, split and then turned in upon itself. Documented the converging of realms, the manifestation of ancient entities. And yet, the wastes have remained silent. No man has gone forth to return, to speak of his brothers lost. Progress has met a great, unyielding wall and the ancient evil just beyond goes unchecked.
  4. Wouldn't it be more beneficial to incentivize, through OOC reward, an actually productive steward program for cities and nations?
  5. The matter has been resolved. Secondary / follow up contract to be issued within a few days.
  6. With the following bounty found here, a system will be in place to represent fatigue, stress and other negatives suffered by adventurers in a foreign and hellish environment. This system will be roll-heavy, as folks all too often ignore emoting pain, suffering and any form of fear. Yes, I know that you may feel that you do but, too many folks do not so, this system will be in place for all participants. Stress - Odds mounting, wounds sustained and sour luck will all ultimately add to stress. A stressed descendant is more likely to make errors, has a harder time focusing and will fatigue more quickly. No one will be granted immunity to stress but everyone will be allowed means of reducing their stress. Stress will be handled as levels. Stress rolls and stress gains will be prompted. Resting / Origin - No impact One - Losing 1 point in a roll Two - Losing 2 points in a roll - Fatigue gain increased from here on. All magi will be required to beat a base roll for spell usage. Three - Losing 3 points in a roll Four - Forced disengagement with failed roll. Lose 4 points in a roll. (See meaning at bottom.) Fatigue - Whether it's killing foes, clearing debris, staying awake for extended periods or running great lengths, descendants will become fatigued. Much like stress, this will cause errors, disrupt focus and in the most extreme cases, result in loss of consciousness. Like stress, fatigue rolls and gains will be prompted. Resting / Origin - No Impact One - No Impact Two - Losing 1 point in a roll Three - Losing 2 points in a roll. All magi will be required to beat a base roll for spell usage. Four - Consciousness prompt. Fails will result in forced disengagement. Maintains 2 point loss in rolls. There are other negatives that descendants will feel and experience but to express them now would remove some of the 'fun.' The effects will be explained when and if they occur. Happy hunting, folks. ---- Side notes Forced disengagement - For 1 turn, player(s) will be unable to defend themselves or retaliate. Can be emoted as being dazed, confused or panicked. It will be left to the player to emote as they see fit. Loss of consciousness - Should be obvious. Can't do much of anything if you're 'sleeping.' This will last for 1-3 turns based on roll. Failure absolutely can be met before the adventure even truly begins. I have to stress thought and consideration before you do anything in The Maw. I would absolutely hate to see folks go through the entire event only to realize they've no means of escape or medical equipment to tend to their wounds. Be prepared for what comes, even if you have no idea of what to expect. Bring enough equipment for a few IC days. You never know what you'll face or how long you'll be in The Maw. Prepare for the worst. All rolls and situations that require rolls will be prompted. Not each and every emote will require a roll.
  7. Familiar criers call out news of another new bounty, "The Hamlet has been lost for years now. Untouched, unopposed and ignored, there is no doubt that the enemy has thrived. Any young and daring adventurers looking to make a bit of coin are invited to hand over their name and a means of contact!"
  8. Familiar criers just beyond OuterHaven would give news of new bounties, "A mountain of flesh and blood, rage incarnate stalks the wastes. Coin for its head! Leave your name and a means of finding you!"
  9. This bounty has been resolved by the first approaching party. Better luck next time, folks.
  10. Just off the path from Outer Haven, a crier calls out to anyone that should pass, "Seeking those versed in long lost and foreign architecture! A site, its purpose unknown, has been found and understanding of the site's function is absolutely essential in the coming days! Simply hand over your a means of contacting you along with your name and you will be approached later!"

    Soft PKs

Not you in particular but more often than not the requests we, as ET, get are scripted "I want to tame a 3headed donkey dragon" types of events. As for event sites, most events aren't 'important.' There's only one event line I know of off the top of my head that could be looked at as important and it'll be resolved before the ET in control of these events departs, if they even choose to. As for the minor region specific events that most of the ET does, it's not heavily scripted and documented in such a way that just anyone can take them over. I wouldn't want to take an event from a past ET member and risk utterly destroying what they had intended to do either.

That events are only hosted for the Wood Elves is beyond incorrect. There are actually quite a few folks who, once they've seen how events play out with this particular playerbase, evade providing them with another. Requests are still very much a thing, as is communicating with the ET. What is NOT a thing is heavily scripted roleplay that allows players to have an event just to, "Tame generic animal 3." As for players having a shop just for 'event' items, who cares? If someone manages to buy up event items and open a shop to sell them, it doesn't say or mean much of anything. Event locations should all be marked by signs saying who is hosting the event. Anything that looks interesting but lacks a sign giving a contact name is probably just some flavor tossed into the map by the build team. Should you come across a sign or item that is dated, meaning the actor and builders who came together and made something for the server to enjoy but at some point, decided they no longer wanted to be ET, it will most likely just be trash or flavor items with no real purpose. It is unreasonable and to an extent, disrespectful, to expect someone to just take over the work of another as their own.

And this place is where? What ETs are we speaking of? The events I've run aren't run to appease large groups because large-group events quickly degrade into people MCly sprinting around, jumping, trying to shoot arrows at everything and ICly spewing memes as if it's the first time anyone has every heard them. Why not open communications with a member of the event team and speak about getting something set up around the type of RP you or your group enjoys? Why not look into doing a bounty? Why not explore for event locations? Each of these things, whilst requiring motivation and effort on the part of the player, are a means of finding assorted events in assorted locations. -- As for the concerns of ET abuse, refer to Seventh's response: Whilst some folks are malicious to anyone not within their circle of friends, it can not and should not be said of everyone. The folks within the ET are expected to provide RP, within reason, to essentially anyone. A lot of the time what keeps events from rolling out is ignorance of the desire and misuse of the ETReq system. The guidelines for which can be found here: Please, do not ask for events with specific outcomes and please do not make a random request to the ET with absolutely nothing to go off of. For example, having 4 of your buds together and just sitting in the middle of a pub somewhere doesn't make for very engaging Event RP and to simply expect someone to belch out something on the spot will only result in sub-par Event RP.
  14. This event has been concluded and the bounty collected.
  15. One of three things. Some half-assed aengudaemonic event line no one is interested in. Some half-assed dead raising dragon. Some region full of half-assed undead nonsense with mechanical dungeons for people to explore because folks have a hard time providing engaging RP and opt into spamming mobs and MC mechanics.
  16. The claimants have not returned, even after weeks. The offer still stands to any brave souls wishing to give it a go.
  17. A crier lies before you, hands about his mouth and face fading in color. He cries out in repetition: "Men of the Raider's Respite are seeking the assistance of young able-bodied men and women. Communications with the Lodge, the location of which will be discussed at a time of meeting, has been lost. Anyone willing to take on this minor task will be compensated in no less than 200 minas. Extra compensation may be awarded based on performance! Hand over any information that may act a means of contact to myself and I will see the message delivered!" The man would lower his arms, take a deep breath and then repeat himself.

    Soft PKs

Unfortunately there are times when you have to make the effort to meet folks half way.
  19. What is a soft PK? A soft PK is when an eventline is closed off to your char due to a previous failure that has resulted in their IC death. Unlike an actual PK, the player only loses all knowledge of the events during and leading up to their ‘PK’ in the eventline and an OOC barrier will be in place preventing the player(s) from partaking in another instance of that particular eventline. Why embrace soft PKs? This removes the chances for a player to ruin the story elements of an event line without forcing them to lose their characters. Think of it as a quality management device. What happens when a player fails to follow a soft PK? Depending on the extent of damages due to things like meta’d information, an entire group or list of names associated with the information divulging player may be blocked from event entry. Harsh but essential to maintaining a story that should not have been expressed to a large playerbase. This is a rule set to be put into use with a series of events and this thread will act as a 'set in stone' guideline. I am glad to discuss and adjust to oversights.
  20. I don't see the point. If folks shift the rules to allow ladder placements, there will just be buttons every which way making the change pointless. Unless folks are rolling some awful looking ladder carts in and out of a region. That's a whole discussion within itself though.
  21. Elderman too makes passive aggressive comments and chuckles at the parchment making this announcement.
  22. A parchment is pinned to many of the sign posts of the eastern roads. It reads as follows: Band of the Respite The Nest has been burned. The parchments, cast to the wind. All remaining forces are to ready themselves for re-training. As we are pressed for time, the clandestine nature of our work is to be retired. Following a rift in the sky and a skirmish with the unknown, the following losses have been suffered: Raider Unit: Humphrey of Strom Heinrich of Strom Zin'Thuan of Oaken Helm Sapper Unit: Frelny of Old Kaedrin Enarin of Old Kaedrin Metthias of High Rock Albred of Hag's Peak Auxilliary and Occupation: Dremli Stonetongue Aldremithin Rockbain Franz K. William 'The Butcher' Blanerin Fron Alvin of High Rock Robert Thane Higgs Tholumin of Torm 'Shoe' Bart the 'Half Hander' Goddard F Creator take them into his merciful embrace. Secondary Return the Berserker. Last seen departing for the field of blades, unarmed and unequipped. It is essential that this is done quickly.
  23. Dislike the notion of a mage being able to yank someone into their own personal domain whilst under attack from behind. Should something like this be implemented, why would we allow folks to disregard the standard rules for most magic, being the requirement for line of sight? Another thing, items and etc brought into the mindplane are reduced to mana upon departure so, how would one have structures or objects within the plane if they're just barren spaces upon creation? Personally, I am completely against the notion of Cyber Dens and Magical Safe Spaces pocket dimensions. Something this powerful should render the caster worthless for quite some time, not just their NPC assistant.
