You could talk about the rivalry of the church and state over the years including court cases such as Roe v. Wade (Abortion) and Obergefell v. Hodges (Gay Marriage) and what position the government must take on the issue. There was a woman recently arrested in Alabama (I think) for not dispensing a marriage license. Maybe talk about how the government reacts upon issues that counter religion and religious freedom.
