  5. GOD AND THE PEER <-----------><-----------><-----------> <-----------><-----------><-----------> Saint James II in his most holy wisdom, was a student of Lord’s peace. Beneath his spectacled gaze, he contemplated the wonder of God in the world, and the Empire, and all men of faith. He oversaw, during his holy reign, this dismantling of feudal pride, and reconciled the peer with my country, born new. He loved peace, and so he sewed it. Whence the Atheran King of Sutica rendered great insult unto the Imperial family, he commanded their war end, for he knew that Princes of God could not reconcile themselves through a contest of pride. Whence the Haeseni Monarch could not reconcile his power with his Imperial sovereign, Saint James II discovered for them their peace, for he knew that Princes of God must live in peace before they suffer from the iniquities of war. He knew these things for he knew the Word of the Lord. He knew the Tapestry of Man, stained many times over with its own blood. For this wisdom, he was gifted the Grace of the Lord. “I name you pontifex, for you are a builder of bridges.” (Godfrey, 6:61) In the heart of we Children of God, we suffer from our innate pride. Our people grow in earth watered with the blood of our ancestors, and we forget. The Lord is our Divine teacher, who will show us only what is before our present eyes, and the stories of our promulgation. The Lord knows that we are mortal sinners and do not comprehend Him, so He commands us to know ourselves. “The Lord said to him “Here is My Gospel, which is the history of your people.” (Godfrey 7:32) The old arms of we Peers is contrived, and harkens to eras of nearly endless skirmish with one’s brother. It is the very practice of pride, that we would seek for that which does not do the good work of the Lord; a monument built to ourselves, and not for the Grace of God. Now, where once we revered ourselves, we were humbled before God and the Empire, His gift to us. The Peer is the administrator of memory, servant eternally to this charge. “We are the heirs to Horen and have continued him by this empire.” (Godfrey, 6:43) It shall be our irrevocable duty of the faithful to serve the word of the Lord, and so the duty is many times that for we scions of our Imperial history, which is the Gospel itself. We who regress ourselves towards feudal pride understand little of God. This marked history is not to be emulated for glory, but to be ascended from in our purest peace with the Lord. “You will know him, for with peace he gathers the sons of Horen, where the sword has divided them.” (Godfrey, 7:52) So now, it shall be everlasting, that our armies are pointed towards the foe who wrings its wrists and gnaws at our Faith. That we are one with God and country shall be the monument of our time, delivered unto us by the holiness of our Saints and the Divinity of God. Shall the Peer accept his mantle as the scion of the Gospel, we shall be undivided in permanence. The pagan will be rendered helpless before us. The heretic shall know no peace till he has seen his iniquity extinguished in holy fire. “Thus arrayed are the forces of God.” (Sigismund, 2:22) HIH, The Duke of Crestfall
  6. SAINT JAMES II OF KORVASSA AND THE ARGENTATE STAR <------------><------------><------------> <------------><------------><------------> In the twilight years of his holy life, Saint James II rendered unto the world Divine intercession in the form of summoning. A golden coin, holy and gifted by God through the Archangel Michael, was bestowed upon the Saint. Whence the Inferni horde held its last defense, Saint James II invited into the world the gift of God’s reverence for him. By the spirit of the Archangel, wielding the Sword of Horen, our own blades shone with the marked fire of Owyn in white hot steel. We see the word of the Lord at work. “The Lord saw the penance of Owyn, which was the death of the unrepentant. 20 And Owyn was made again as the light of his blade, and the great city was destroyed.” (Godfrey, 5:19) Above us sang the banner of the Archangel, from which the lines of the iniquitous buckled, stricken with the fear of God. Above us sang a banner which bled courage into us by it’s aura of divine light. It had made us insurmountable. We were one with our love for the Lord, for He had favored we who witnessed the Intercession. We worship the Lord in the aftermath of our witness to divinity. We hold tight to ourselves our symbols of holiness, the icons of our service to the Lord. The world alters, and the ideals of a new age encounter the nature of our faith in the Ministry bestowed upon us by Godfrey. We know that His word is true, for it was shown to us through this most Divine Intercession. We see the word of the Lord at work. “Virtue was preserved only by keepers of ashen urns, paupers, and princes of piety, who were the champions of GOD.” (Godfrey, 5:26) Praise be unto God, and pray for we aged few who were witness to God's miracle rendered unto our temporal existence, for we are sinners who earn not His grace. Yet He has provided for us His blessing, and shown us in His silence that His work is immaculate and eternal. We see the word of the Lord at work. "Though man sinned as never before, even in the age of Horen, the Lord provides." (Godfrey, 5:47) HIH, The Duke of Crestfall

  8. An Imperial elf sharpens his sword, eager for another ripe target, should the Talon's Portians dare assist the Nordlings in their invasion of his home.
  9. Philip Augustus is in the field with his favored hawk when his ward, the young Simon Bastille, "You must consider, with all your heart, that the Grace of God has proven the Hyspian cause to be righteous, for they do not falter in their love of faith. Where I was once skeptical, I am convinced that they revere the Lord despite their pagan overlords of of the last years."
  10. "Pagan lies convince these fools to break our defensive pact. So be it." Says Philip.
  11. Imperial Response on the Elysium Offensive 15th of Amber Cold, 1818 The Imperial State Army recently conducted a successful raid on Elysium, a vassal of the Nordling tribes. In doing so, we have observed a tradition long kept by the saints and prophets of Canonism: national defense in the face of pagan aggressions. Many of our ancestors--from Ex. Godfrey to Ex. Sigismund, from St. Emma to St. Thomas--waged similar wars, with all that entails. Contrary to the apparent expectations of the Nordling government, war means death. It is regrettable, but we remind them once again that we did not start this conflict. The Orenian people will not roll over and die quietly for the sake of Nordling sensibilities. The ISA each obey the Canonist tenet of mercy for the penitent, making all efforts to protect the lives of non-combatants during military operations. Upon marching into Elysium, the army announced their intentions and commanded non-combatants to flee. Very few did so, and in order to discriminate between peaceful residents and militants, Orenian soldiers only attacked those who were armed and armored for battle. Among those who lay dead in the fields of Elysium, you will not find one who did not bear steel against us. Accordingly, we place the blame for any death in this conflict squarely at the feet of the apostate chieftain Sven, who initiated the Tenth Nordling War on such a vague basis as “intent to interfere with Norlandic sovereignty.” War is not political theater. It is bloodshed. People will die. Any ruler who cannot understand that is not fit to rule. It is the height of cowardice for a leader to initiate an aggressive war and then cry out “Oh, the humanity!” when he finds he cannot win. The Orenian people are not swayed by such dishonesty, and for so long as this conflict persists, we will put to the sword any who bear arms in the name of their false god. We will defend our faith and our country from these apostates, and we will not apologize for it. Those who would not die to defend Chief Sven’s lies are encouraged to stand aside peacefully, or better, to relocate to nations which are not engaged in the active persecution of the Orenian people. Mercy is for the penitent alone. In this war, we will recall the example of the prophets: “The Lord saw the penance of Owyn, which was the death of the unrepentant.” (Gospel 5:19) ISSUED AND PROCLAIMED, John VIII, by the grace of GOD Holy Orenian Emperor, forever August, King of Renatus, Curon, Kaedrin, Salvus, and Seventis, Defender of the Faith, Grand Duke of Ves, Duke of Adria, Novellen and Lorraine, Baron of Renzfeld, Protector of the Heartlanders, Highlanders, and Farfolk, etcetera
  12. Philip Augustus prays soon after his conversation with the young Duke. He was wiser than Philip had anticipated, "He loves his people as I hope we all may love ours," he remarks after his short prayer. "Let us hope he does not misunderstand my harsher rhetoric."
  13. Philip Augustus commends Liluth, who was put in such an unfortunate situation for being such an apparently considerate person. "She told me all she desired was peace. Her King brought war to his own people, and she has suffered because of it. I pray for her and her family, and that the rest of the ash tree's company will bring her no harm."
  14. Cardinal Pelagius, You have flattered me as revered and graceful when I am neither. I am a humble sinner. I know the nature of flatterers. You and many would assume that to forgive you is graceful, merciful, and holy. I am an old man now, Cardinal, and I have stared into the face of the devil, and clutched the aura of angels. I know what is holiness, and to forgive you does not bring me closer to it. You have apologized for being drunk for my wife's funeral, that you had caroused too much, that your politics interfere with your sense. You mock priesthood with these excuses. You are a student of opulence. I will pay you no mind for the rest of my days. It is not my duty to teach you the nature of goodness of service or God. Should there come a day where you find yourself escaped from the obstructions of your faith in the form of politics, fear, drink, or riches, I shall be overjoyed and thankful to the Lord. HIH The Duke of Crestfall

  16. A pious Prince in the Augustine praises the decisiveness of the King of Haense, and even the pagans of Norland, to a collection of soldiers assigned to his guard, "There, then. This is where the King of Haense stands, with God. And so the Nordling King has plucked a poison from his nation. There is only virtue in this, I should hope to see this Rurikid in virtuous skies. The Lord above is no doubt pleased, where when pagans have murdered a man of His flock, they have been purged from their own nation."

  19. Hello friends, On October 9th at 6PM EST, we’ll be running a live stream. We’ll be going over the following. The capital, it’s design and it’s layout. The palace, it’s design and layout. The Empire’s government and economy in 8.0. The City’s government and economy. Any other questions posed during the stream. This is a highly anticipated map considering how long we’ve been on Arcas, and the build team and leadership in Oren are very excited to start sharing what’s been put together. Everyone is welcome to come join us to take a close look at what we should be expecting come 8.0. If anyone has any specific questions that they want answered about the city, the Empire, or the server in 8.0, please feel free to send me a message on the forums, discord, or reply to this thread and we’ll answer your questions during the stream. We’ll be hosting the stream on my channel at https://www.twitch.tv/tangoispointless. Big thanks to you all and especially to the builders and administrators making this possible.
  20. Hey friends of the craft,

I’m trying to get a sub button for my stream and only need 10 more followers!

If you have the time hit me with a follow and I’d really appreciate it...

  21. If you don’t want firearms, you don’t have to use them. We can easily make sure any combat is nerfed in the same way we nerf magic usage through specific emotes and power levels. It’s fun RP for the groups that want to use them. It’s flavor RP, exciting and new.
