Riolan was born in Al'khazar, but he didn't remember most of his childhood. After growing up in the city he loved, he was sure he had become the town's most popular person. He was so generous and caring that he would stand out in the square, through rain and shine and Undead attacks, to greet travellers and direct them around the city. So loyal he was to his beloved city that even when it was tainted, Riolan was the last to leave. Many thought him dead and long behind them, however Riolan escaped Aegis. Not willing to accept the shame of abandoning Al'khazar, he travelled under hood and beard, determined not to be recognised. He lived a quiet, undisturbed life life as a hermit throughout Asulon, growing his hair and beard to ensure those few who ever did come across him would never recognise him as Al'khazar's most popular citizen. However, with the discovery of the Antagonist in Anthos, Riolan can no longer stand by and watch the races be destroyed a second time. For the good of the human race, and all races in Anthos, he has shed his cloak and trimmed his beard, and returned to stand by the four races which he has watched from a distance throughout Aegis, Asulon and Anthos. Riolan hopes that through example his example can inspire the nations to a different outcome than Aegis. Ambitions for the Future: While still ashamed at abandoning Al'khazar, Riolan hopes to come back and stand for the four races even if it means his life this time. Personality: Riolan is very persistant and very dedicated, almost to a fault. In Al'khazar he was most well-known for his constant presence in the town square, even when all others had fled. Skills: Riolan can stand up for long periods of time, and his patience knows almost no bounds. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Although he once grew a beard and donned a hood to hide his identity, the time for such measures is gone. Riolan has cleaned himself up to be the fine figure most remember. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Riolan would approach the man and offer a friendly greeting. He'd comment on the man's assumed destination, the palace, and offer to guide him there, if he so needed it. These are perilous times and men must be prepared to help other men if they are to survive the coming antagonist. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: Approaching the men, Riolan attempts to put an end to the hot tempers, trying to explain that they must all come together if they are to survive. Unfortunately one of the bandits disagrees, and slashes Riolan's neck, leaving him to die. Riolan's last thoughts are that the men must be the antagonist's minions. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: Riolan approaches the man, who doesn't seem to recognise him from Aegis. He probably wasn't born then, Riolan reasons to himself. He browses the man's wares, looking for anything that might be useful for a non-combatant against the armies of the north. Failing that, he returns to the merchant's stock of ink and paper, asking if he could take it to hang up posters and signs about the antagonist. The man declines, and Riolan find himself drawn into a long debate about the ethics of charging money for war supplies. To any other person, this would be a struggle deemed not worth it, but not for Riolan. Riolan persists doggedly, until the merchant gives up and hands him the ink and paper on the condition he never sees him again. Riolan gratefully accepts.
