The Lady of Hanseti-Ruska, an Author’s Appraisal
Leyrin replied to shay's topic in Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska
Evalina Amador sighed upon reading the column, she slumped in her chair and dragged a palm down her face in frustration. "Alright, I'll keep it short and sweet and if confidence is what the Lady wants, confidence is what she'll see... I hope. At least I was noticed." She grumbled, getting back to work on her gown for her next competition. -
[!] Upon hearing about the event Evalina took great interest in participating. Perhaps this would help her blend into court! Even if it all went horribly wrong, at least she'll have taken part! [[ooc]] Ign: Leyrin Character name: Evalina Amador

"Za Vasoyevi!" Dilaia cheered, raising a glass of Rakija in toast towards Ursula. Her jewellery chimed as she danced the Kolo with her kin, laughing giddily from the night's excitement and drinks. She bowled towards Andrik, embracing the man tightly as she pressed a kiss against his cheek. In Vezik, she spoke: "You did it, my love! We did it! I will always stand by your side."

~~~ Hello! I’m Leyrin, I make skins. I’d add some fancy borders to this page but I can’t find any. So! I have a bunch of skins that I don’t use and thought I might as well make a bit of money from them 🙂 All skins posted here will be 1000 mina with a 500 mina add on if you wish for me to make any changes to the existing skin. There is, however, an option for personal skin commissions but I’m lazy and need motivation to complete them so for unique commissions I ask for £5 as it take several hours to make a skin 😄 Equally, I understand paying irl money for mineman skins can be a bit demanding so price could be lowered to £3? Anywho! Let’s get to the skin dump: (Note some of these are past commissions/gifted skins which I believe to be unused, if you are still currently using the skin let me know asap so I can take it down!) Skins currently for sale I will delete skins when bought and add new ones when necessary 😄 Thanks! (p.s. if you decide you’ve seen a skin you like or would like to commission, comment with what you want and your discord so I can hit you with a message)
Agnes clutched at the parchment with stiff fingers. Being away from home had taken its toll. The woman clawed at her heaving chest as a grieving wail escaped her. Her precious child; her beloved daughter; a corpse. Collapsing into a chair, she curled herself into the comfort of her own warmth. Bile coated her throat as nausea struck her trembling frame. She pressed the back of her hand against her pain-contorted mouth, muffling the cries of a regretful mother. She rose when the sobbing had subsided, swaying. She called for someone to ready the horses in preparation for her return. Now she needed to salvage whatever bonds she could with her remaining daughter. “Fly free, my little bird, fly proud.” She whispered, gazing to the window with sodden cheeks. “May you rest in the seven skies.”
Renee Hearth’s death After hearing the news of her dying mother Edith couldn’t stand to wait another moment knowing that she could die at any saint’s minutes. Edith had notified her brother, Stefan Hearth, of the devastating reality. For so long Edith had believed her mother was dead, along with the rest of her family , thinking it was just her and her brother alone. Once the pair had reached a small building in Lorraine, where they had been informed that their mother was, they made no hesitation to rush inside. A few more saint’s minutes of searching had passed and the two moved inside a somewhat small room. The damp wallpaper peeling at the corners accompanied by the smell of death clinging to the walls. There was no real lighting in the dim room apart from the miserable sunlight which peeked through the drawn, tattered, curtains, highlighting the dust which floated around them. The atmosphere was dark and not at all welcoming though the faces inside were. Frederick, Edith and Stefan’s uncle, slowly turned on his largely-booted heel to face the two, his toned arms folded as his dark eyebrows were furrowed in concern. Little had the two known their uncle wasn’t missing, he was in fact caring for their mother. “Uncle?” Edith asked in disbelief, the young noble had for so long presumed he was missing, much like his brother, Sven Hearth. Fred had only sent the odd-letter, barely keeping in-touch as the Elven days dragged on and the children grew older and matured. The muscular man strode towards the duo, placing a hand on each of their shoulders as he peered into their eyes, sadly. “I’m sorry.” Is all he muttered before lifting his palms and sluggishly moving towards the exit. The two wanting much more than just a blunt apology, they wanted to know the answers to why he hadn't spoken to them, what their mother was dying of; there were so many mysteries which, unfortunately, were yet to be solved. “But-” Stefan started though it was too late to make an attempt at conversing with the ‘missing’ uncle as the young man was cut off by the closing of the decaying door which was the only thing keeping them trapped in the dank room. Edith was almost surprised at how the block of wood hadn’t collapsed from it’s rusting hinges, not that she wished it would. “Leave him.” Edith murmured, stepping towards the creaking bed where a pale-greyish-skinned woman lay, knowing Fred was in no mood to talk. “Mother?..” Stefan whispered, his eyes growing wider at the horrific sight. There, Renee peered up at the siblings with sunken eyes, her skin a deathly grey, her flesh stuck close to her bones amplifying the fact that she was slowly rotting away in her deathbed. “Children…” Renee rasped out, extending a bony hand towards the pair with half-closed eyes, her eyelids clearly heavy as she struggled to stay awake. "I knew- You'd come- eventually." “Mother…” Edith gulped, grasping her mother’s hand softly, not wanting to cause any pain. “Promise me-” She spluttered, lifting her free hand to her dried lips as she let out a mucus-riddled cough. “Promise me you’ll stay safe-” “We promise. We promise.” Stefan blurted out, gritting his teeth while his green orbs flicked between the two women. Edith simply nodded in agreement, forcing a reassuring smile, yet there was so much she wanted to ask and tell her mother, now wasn't the time and there would never be a time in future. Renee wheezed, lifting a handkerchief to her mouth as she coughed once again, her torso hunching over in pain, the dirtied mattress had sunk beneath the woman's constant weight, it being moulded around her frame from how she had been bed-bound for so long. “Mother.” Edith whispered with wide eyes, resting a hand upon Renee’s slender shoulder, silently begging for her to stay with them a little longer. “Promise- You’ll never give up. No matter- No matter what happens.” She continued slowly, her airways tight as she wheezed out, taking a trembling breath. “We promise.” Edith confirmed softly as Stefan rested his arm across the noble girl’s shoulders. Renee spluttered out, forcing a pained smile as she rested her head back weakly. “I love you two…” She’d rasp out one final time. “We love you too!" Stefan answered rapidly, he wasn't one to be mushy but even he couldn't halt the tears which swarmed his eyes, making his vision cloudy; eyeing her over as Renee’s wheezing grew louder and more drawn out. “Don’t leave us! Not yet! Please!” Edith cried, squeezing her mother’s hand as tears threatened to spill from the girl’s eyes. “Uncle!” Stefan yelled out, peering over his shoulder at the door, waiting for it to swiftly open. But, it never did. Just like Edith had done over the years of her life, constantly waiting for the stereotypical reunion of her beloved family, forgetting all the negative things that had happened and working through them together. Edith was done waiting and as soon as the others realise that waiting is a waste of time, she thought, the better. But with one last battling breath, the pained woman’s eyes flickered shut, Renee Hearth was no more. The distress and sorrow around them fading away into a blur of noise. The twins crumbling under grief while Fred's back slid down the cold wall outside the room, dragging his fingers through his dark hair as he couldn't face to see his family collapse before his eyes and have to live with the fact he couldn't do anything about it. Tears were shed and weaknesses were revealed but one thought couldn’t remove itself from Edith’s mind. Who was next?
In-Character Information Character’s name: Wren Ashdown. Character’s sex: Female. Character’s race: Human, Heartlander. Character’s age: 19 Biography: Wren was born on the 16th of The Amber Cold, 1558. She was born into a loving family and her parents gave her bundles of attention. She grew up in the Capital city, Felsen. By the age of 8, Wren was blessed with a baby sister which was named Katherine, though it was soon shortened to Kate. Wren had a generally good education though nothing fancy due to the family's lack of money-not that Wren cared. When Wren was 10 and her little sister being the tender age of 2, the girls looked up to their father because he was always so bright and full of life. But one fateful day, the family discovered that he had a terminal illness, Dawn- Wren's mother- was devastated. It tore the young Wren's heart apart when she had to watch her father slowly growing pale and frail, knowing that he would soon be just a memory. Wren grew a hatred for the world, she didn't understand why such a loving man should ever deserve something as bad as this, but her father simply told her to be strong and that happiness is all you need. Obviously, the 2 year old Kate had no clue what was going on. So, with Wren's mother battling grief, the crumbling woman turned to drinking just a few months later. Wren despised seeing her mother in such a state, it only added to the sadness she already held. The 10 year old believed it was her duty to care for her little sister, taking her outside, keeping her fed and happy, Wren trying to steer clear from her drunken mother. A painfully slow year passed, the two siblings being attached to one another and Wren hardly ever left alone/without her sister. Her Uncle had now stepped in to try and pull Wren and Kate's mother back to her senses, ordering for her to stop the constant drinking. The two girls had hid in their rooms, listening into the sobbing and yells which were echoing around the kitchen. 1565, Wren's mother was on a gradual path to recovery, beginning to cut down on the quantity of alcohol she was consuming and the woman turned to baking as a hobby instead. Wren still had clear, fond, memories of the mouth-watering smells from the food her mother cooked. After several years of laughing and giggling in the kitchen, Wren watching her little sister messily stir mixtures and bake, her mother dancing around the kitchen table, singing softly to the two; Wren's dream was set. The 15 year old wanted to be as good at baking/cooking as her mother and as selfless and happy as her father had once been. Just when things seemed to be getting better her mother seemed to be drinking more often again, one night Dawn grabbed her daughter's arm and peered into Wren's eyes before breaking into uncontrollable tears. She cried out for Wren to follow in her father's footsteps and to be as acceptant and caring, begging Wren to keep being the hopeful, bright, young woman she was. The heart-wrenching moment was engraved in her mind, the repeating image of her broken mother before her, the loss of her father still haunted her and now she felt like she was losing her mother all over again too. Several more years passed, Wren had supported her mother to a stable condition, her little sister growing independent herself. Wren's craving for adventure grew to it's highest peak, being at the point where she just couldn't stop thinking about it. After persuading her mother she would be safe and promising Kate she would write often she was allowed to venture out into the unknown places she had longed to visit. With her things packed she said her goodbyes to her loved ones and set off to Johannesburg in the current year, 1577. Wren saw this as a brilliant opportunity for a fresh start and a hopeful way to begin living her dreams. Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?) Wren is a very protective, curious and selfless soul when you get to know her, also being a good-hearted canonist, she will almost always put the people who are close to her first no matter what risks may follow. This young woman almost radiates happiness but because of her independent nature it means she will often keep her feelings to herself, not wanting anyone to have the burden of supporting her, though this does mean that sometimes her more negative thoughts bombard her mind. Wren always tries to hide being scared and instead tries to look even more brave then she already is; meaning when she's scared, she'll subconsciously purse her lips, grit her teeth, bite her bottom lip or clench her fists . Wren tends to be somewhat care-free, not often letting anxiety cloud her thoughts though when she is worried you'll often find her wringing her hands. She has a habit of giving subtle clues to when she's lying for example, she'll fidget, twirl her hair or tug lightly on her earlobe, if someone has a keen eye and spots these small hints then Wren really doesn't have a chance in keeping the lie going. Likes- Wren enjoys the little things in life, such as seeing someone happy or knowing that she helped someone. She enjoys cooking, even if she isn't quite the best at it yet, and will often sing a little while she does. She loves to be outside and breathe the fresh air, surrounding herself with friends, flowers, etc. Wren also likes to meet new people and isn't one to judge on looks, though some people argue that she's just naïve and is generally putting herself in danger, but Wren's urge to make friends is enough to keep her from avoiding certain people. Dislikes- Wren doesn't like people who are overconfident or vain, concluding in her steering away from people who hold such loud personalities, though she doesn't mind people who are a little boisterous as she believes it's good to know a diverse group of individuals. Wren doesn't like negativity, she feels that it's just a horrid thing that has the power to take over your mind if you don't stop it which is probably why she's often cheerful. Finally, Wren doesn't like crowds, lots of people around her make her feel uneasy and trapped, meaning she'll often try and slip away from the group if she can though if there isn't a way out then she begins to get very unnerved and anxious. Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) As simple as it sounds, Wren aspires to be a baker/cook and one day, open her own bakery, have her own little house and one day in the future have a family. She doesn't want anything too extravagant. Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?) Agility- because of her slimmer, lighter, frame it makes her generally faster and can even climb trees if she has to, this also includes in her having a somewhat good reaction time. Imagination- She has an amazing imagination which has absolutely no limits, she used to tell her little sister stories which she had simply made up on the spot. Singing- Although the young woman doesn't sing often, she does find it relaxing to sing as it blocks out whatever's happening at the current moment and allows her to be herself. Non-Judgemental- Even though Wren sometimes has a few racist thoughts which pop into her head, she'll almost never say them out-loud as she doesn't wish to offend anyone. She isn't quick to judge on looks which means she won't really ever see a reason not to engage in a conversation. Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) Strength- Wren lacks a lot of strength as she never really had any training or any sort, this is one of her most prominent weaknesses. Selfless- Now, although this is a more positive trait, it does come as a weakness at times. It means that she will often do anything to save her friends, leaving herself in danger which might not be the best of choices. Too trusting- Even though trust is a great skill to have, it means Wren could be easily tricked as her nicer nature is soon to take over, who knows what would happen if she were to trust the wrong person?.. Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?) Wren has smooth chocolate-y brown hair which reaches roughly to her waist, also with two front parts of her hair are braided and tied at the back. She has bright, round almond, blue eyes, freckles are sprinkled along her nose and cheeks (bridge of her nose and cheekbones to be more specific). Her face is more heart-shaped and her nose is very slightly upturned. Her lips are generally even and a little plump. Wren wears her mother's plain silver earrings and a faded blue dress with a corset, accentuating her slim, but slightly curvaceous, build. Though Wren isn't very tall, being only 6'6 and she doesn't really have any visible muscle; owning more of a feminine appearance. Skin: http://imgur.com/Bjx55mm
