SIEGE OF BLACKREACH
Siege of Blackreach, circa 1675
_______________________________________________________________
The men of Vasile and Blackreach stood strong on the battlements looking across the field where the Rivian troops stood. As both armies stared at each other for a moment before Thomas . William would charge out with a few Blackreach men doing a few skirmishes at the trenches with the Rivians. After a few skirmishes a trebuchet shot would be shot over the heads of the both sides, hitting the back of the forts walls. As the trebuchet shot hit the back wall, William would command his men to retreat back to the fort. Thomas would then command his men to sally out and begin to ladder up the walls. Charles would begin to command his troops to the walls, to rain arrows towards the Rivian soldiers covering William’s retreat. As the arrows rained, Charles repeated the same words, the same orders.
“Knock!”
“Draw!”
“LOSE!”
As the volley of bolts and arrows flew at the Rivian troops many would hit the floor, this would continue until the Rivian troops and Skarpefanger clan would begin to place their ladders on the Blackreach walls. Charles would begin to hold the walls well, forcing the Rivians to retreat back to the war camp. William would look up at the walls towards Charles as he looked back at him giving eachother a nod before he’d look towards the men of Blackreach and Vasile. His lips slowly parted as his raspy voice began to speak out,
“You all have fought bravely today. I couldn’t thank God enough for the soldiers he has blessed me with, the family I have, and the friend I hold dear. Rivia laughed at us, mocked us. They said we couldn’t do it. That us, a tiny barony, could not whoop their asses. Today we prove them wrong, today we end what Thomas started.”
Charles would place his hand on his William’s shoulder letting out a sigh.
“Now then… Let us finish what he started.”
___________
William and Charles would lead the charge towards the Rivian soldiers, as their mens warcry would shed fear towards the Rivian soldiers. Thomas seeing the defenders charging at him he’d then command his men to try and push them back.
______
The Siege would last a few more hours before the battle was won, and Rivia was defeated
William and Charles would meet back in the courtyard taking off their helmets as they looked at each other.
“Charles, I wish to send the Rivian dead back to Rivia so that the people know that we never wanted this war, and that Thomas is the one started this bloodshed.”
Charles would nod ordering the men to begin to clean up the dead corpses sending those who have died back to their homes.
