A Wanderer out among the Stars finds the missive on a brief return trip to gather some things and write notes on her findings. Only recently had she started despising those who claim to follow the traditions or followings of those before, Malin, Larihei, Ivarielle, and countless others, be they within the Elven Realm or outside of it, the end result was the same stagnancy present for centuries now. However, she found the besmirchment of Celia'nor in this situation nothing short of insidious. She thought to herself, why would one need to decry a now-dead culture if they are making something new? Unless they were bound to suffer the same fate, but could not admit it, could not change it, could not learn from it. "They think they can take the names of the Celestial bodies that hang above in the skies. Yet it is not their mandate to give, to scavenge from the remnants of those too stupid and greedy to see beyond our horizons. They overreach, believing they can claim the virtues of a bygone era forged by those now forgotten and discarded, and in their arrogance, when they walk the same path, dare imagine themselves capable of avoiding the failures and faults inherent.. This is merely the same song repeated eternal, sung by a different voice, the song that heralds ruin for those who sing it, and those who fall to it like a Siren's Song." Even outside the war, the behavior discussed here can happen when one simply leaves a Nation or some RP conflict breaks out, war simply pushes these cases to happen more than they usually would during peacetime. It has gotten to the point where I don't trust people when they complain about people being metaplayers, OOC toxic or horrible people unless I see something be it my own experience or evidence, otherwise people repeating similar stories and having no real connection to one another barring their interactions with the same player/group, everyone agrees that those types of people suck (metaplayers, etc) but more often than not the people that scream about them the hardest are probably also the worst offenders. It was pretty upsetting to me that when I was trying to focus on other projects after leaving a community, former 'friends' proceeded to try to drag my name through the dirt, vaguely remarking about how I am all OOC, toxic, etc, however, some of the complaints in my opinion bordered on insane from what I got told recently, for context I ran a build server originally for this community but decided to extend it as it would save me time and server box resources, they were upset that I had allowed 'too many people' on MY build server, and during the time I was hosting them they were afraid I was going to delete the worlds and remove their access, consistently kept voicing this fear to regular players despite the fact when I did eventually close of their access both in part to them running my name through the dirt and the way they had treated other players being overly toxic or attempting to metaplay against them, I'd given them the world files so they had everything they had built. To top all that off, before I had even closed off access to my build server, they all stood by while another player finally pushed me out of the community on my birthday, of all days. I think in anyone's opinion, I owed these people none of the patience I had extended towards them. I can't say I was too surprised that it happened in some form and was something I had expected, I've been around RP servers for ages so it is pretty easy to know how these things go down, I could have gone to the players before any these people could have said anything about me but I just stood by the fact the truth was going to get out one way or another, be it they reach out to me or people finally realize by putting the pieces together by way of how they conducted themselves verus myself, as this is usually what happens majority of the time. I share this experience for several reasons. I agree that it is up to everyone to keep LotC's environment respectable, and part of that will come from people having a real reflection of their conduct on the server, be it the way they treat other players OOCly or if they stand by or take action when another player is being treated poorly. I also want to say I believe the ideal way to play the server is how you want to, I've had more fun and enjoyment being completely unshackled from any expectation I had in my former position and not associating closely with groups/players if they don't reflect the standards I believe should be upheld (not just LotC standards but just in general). I also hope that sharing this might help players in some form if they ever find themselves in a similar position, because as soon as things went downhill with that community, it genuinely was one of the worst experiences I've ever had my entire time RPing on any server.

She could have played a much larger hand in it, pushed the pieces to fight against one another, but all she did was merely draw attention away from the simple truth.. Nothing was more damaging to Celia'nor than what they inflicted upon themselves. "The Twilight of the Elves is upon us! Let them all suffer and watch as the Stars fall!"

In my experience admins are pretty transparent when you directly ask, the only thing I think that maybe needs to be done is improvement in widespread communication. The main problem is people think because something is broken or bad consistently = it is intentionally malicious. Not any other possible explanation, while it would be foolish to discredit the fact other servers have similar things to warclaims and handle them well, there is a chance it lacks a fair amount of nuance, LotC has been on going since 2011, that is basically 14 years straight of a consistent place to RP. I don't fully understand some of technical behind that goes on behind the scenes, but my guesses are plugins that are required but are outdated due to changes in conventions, I doubt LotC would ever 'reset' entirely but during a map change they could completely overhaul, but then there could be issues with transfering persona data/inventories to a new 'server', there is also the matter this isn't a full time or paid position, its all volunteer work.

A bitter Wanderer vaguely remarks, she wonders if she could have made a difference if she were listened to or if their overwhelming incompetence would have eventually reared its head and led to the same conclusion.
