  1. Everyone wants to be top dog with it handed to them on a plate, the last big antag group was Femur's Gash, and that was a lot of set-up going back maybe 2 years from 2024?. Truthfully, I think people care too much about the 'objective' outcomes, so it becomes a weird OOC game rather than anything based in RP, but the moment the barrier breaks down, there isn't a 'clean way' to respond to it. This usually becomes an issue imo because sometimes it is a big time sink to progress on LotC, and sometimes people get it relatively easy, so some people will ultimately become 'attached' to personas and groups. It would be nice if there were more mechanics expanded for Lairs, a rough idea would be some form of the enclave system tied with them so groups could make temp lairs that are designed to give protagonists characters narrative wins, such as a small fort, evil cave, etc and you can have it tie in to start off events, rather than have Events just being isolated from player actions, it'd be cool to hear IRP how a mad alchemist that is played by an actual player created some form of new homunculus creatures that escaped and kicks off a mini event for players to engage with, or some old necro/warlock/mystic base starts bleeding corruption and becomes a lil hotspot for an event of some description. On the side of Antags winning, it definitely is something that needs to be more possible, as I mentioned before, you can have cool things spawn from it, iirc Ando Alur's destruction was the result of Necro's two maps ago, and that still has formulated a lot of opinions on the Void for my persona in her early days and present, but given how difficult that is to pull stuff off to that scale, I always wonder if that is part of what causes a lot of infighting within the Dark Spawn community that I've seen and dealt with, because its easier to 'win' by leveraging inner access, than it is to do to outsiders.
  2. A Chaos Witch looked over the paper provided to her with a dulled stare. "They lack the wondrous imagination you possess, don't they?" she spoke after some minutes as if to another, if their words would've been heard, as a finger trails over the mention of a lacking diagram. "But do they deserve to know?" she questions, as she rummages through her things, looking for a book she had once written on Aevos, clutched firmly in her hands.
  3. Mayura was eager to be conscripted and learn the ways of the Samurai within the Marine Corp, for one Samurai equalled at least over a hundred Orcs! As soon as she finished her batch of personal Ponderlot stash, of course..
  4. The main issue, from what I recall from the Talar'nor build, was specifically that the people who were commissioned to build it were never paid, so it kinda sucked. It wasn't really an issue with the Vale per se, as they didn't commission it and were unaware, but that is why a fuss of some description was kicked up, given those circumstances. Regardless of that, it is kinda in the TOS that when you post (in this case, paste) anything to LotC, it legally becomes LotC property, so it is really up to staff how they feel about build squatting or even copying styles.
  5. This change also didn't really make sense to me, and seemed entirely pointless, does it actually make that much of a difference IRP and OOCly, that there is a circle around the Rune in question? I feel like either way of doing ensorcell material is fine and allows people to try and flavour their RP however they see fit without it being disruptive in any form.
  6. As much as you can complain about the Empire, be they legitimate reasons or just biased views, did any established groups consider pre-emptively making coalitions or lay any groundwork for them to ensure safety among the realms and allow each nation to live in isolation without fear of a colossal Empire somehow forming and destroying them all? I feel like this was a long time coming; even before Haense fell, the current Empire simply took advantage of the power vacuum that existed with Haense's fall. I think what makes the situation a bit strange to navigate is that I think a majority of the playerbase has been conditioned on the fact that what appears to be low effort RP with incredibly high consequences is considered to be in bad faith, i.e., getting mugged and killed on the road by a bandit who literally only cares to take your loot to brag about it in VC. The problem with this is that not every time someone logs on to the server are they going to provide top-quality RP. People have bad days; it might be someone new to the server who is going to need to learn a lot of ropes. As a result, nothing short of legitimate, contexted screenshots of key Empire players admitting that the Empire's existence was to **** over other communities is going to remove the Empire. I think another issue is the fact that a lot of issues haven't been reported, and I do believe that is because there have been actual reports that don't get actioned, and then the lack of trust that anything would be done, given I feel like trust in staff is at an all-time low. To me, however, this isn't strictly the fault of the Empire, moreso the 'gameplay' systems that are in place, as I mentioned prior, literally anyone could have done this, and they would have more than likely complained about them instead, but equally, all of this could have been prevented by the current systems in place, though I am hoping it does highlight some issues in said systems to give players more creative control rather than the forcing of the mythical centralized RP.
  7. As the Star-Touched Elf's eyes gazed over those dreaded words, it only incited further paranoia; the heretical teachings seeped into that which claims counter of Dark, that invokes remembrance of the words drawled out by a High Warlock, only to reinforce what he claimed was the truth of the operating entities of the world. The Nature of the Ibleesian Curse only became clearer. What the old history taught was mere misdirection, to make way for a more insidious plan, and the Descendants would unknowingly fuel it. What is one meant to do?
  8. "Yes, YES! DRIVE THEM UNTO ME." Cackles a Witch, scheming with no real import from a damp, tiny cave before she promptly goes back to napping.
  9. A Yosei looked over the missive with glazed eyes, having just dabbled in a batch of fresh Ponderlot. Her lips drew thin as she dwelt on which might occur. Another place that Elves might call home, possibly lost. In part, for they had placed trust in an individual whose history they could not know, whose long history is laid with betrayal, broken promises and sweet lies. The world was a different place now; mercy had become a weakness. She wondered what they might mean for her personally, with that newfound desire to fix everything. What she did know was that a new approach was needed for her kind of the Elves, but what that might look like she couldn't imagine, not yet. Though what she did understand is that she and fellow Elves will be given little sympathy should future trust be misplaced. The world's tolerance for fools has whittled.
  10. On this specifically, I think it would be better if votes for making a new nation or whatever done on server through the realm plugin to automate the whole process, namely, when it comes to gathering votes, I think the realm plugin can view the person giving a vote to a Nation, check their forum ID and total and recent playtime before sending it as a valid vote, but this also gives us the option that should the Group they pledge to manages to become manifest, you put them on a 5-8 month cooldown before they can vote again so players can't just keep hopping around. I think the two other points can be addressed simply by expanding the scope somewhat and giving players more options when it comes to making places for RP. As of right now, you either gun for Nation, make a Vassal under another Nation, or try to make a Lair. For a group like Vansk, it could be argued that if it were to build up from a smaller-scale community rather than starting as a Nation, it might have had more luck and grown or otherwise just stayed as a smaller settlement. I think it is fine for any player/group to want independence from Nations and Vassals, as there are many factors that might contribute to them desiring such, both as a mixture of IRP and OOC reasoning. I think forcing players to interact with things they don't want to ultimately leads to a miserable experience for everyone involved, and if players want to blow mina on projects, just let them; they'll either learn from the mistakes or keep trying, and if we only care about engagement with the server, so long as it isn't maliciously OOCly driven, this would provide it plenty. What it ultimately comes down to is what metric the server/RP group is considered successful by? Personally, for me, while I do understand the appeal of the server having 100s of players on at any time, I prefer more quality RP over the quantity of players that spam simple dialogue. Another thing to ask is whether these systems should be entirely aiming for longevity or promoting engaging RP. This is simply to say that if I wanted to, as a player, make a bandit camp fully player-run and driven, I can't exactly vassalize under a Nation as the Nation is held accountable for their existence (you can not claim a mechanical vassal was made IRP without knowledge), Lairs are more lore-based, and a Nation would get instantly warred for being overtly evil without any regarding to allowing some form of drawn out conflict and that is setting aside spending 25k mina for what would be a temp group to stir abit of RP is a bit of bad investment. I truthfully think a more nuanced and thorough approach needs to be taken in regards to how 'RP Hubs' are meant to exist and function on LotC and what the ultimate goal is, while giving players the freedom, tools and understanding what they are actually signing up for so people can generate RP without worrying about their shit getting nuked instantly. Edit to say, also all future systems need to be designed to prevent players 'optimising' the fun out of this server, force them to RP..
  11. There unironically was an incident recently where someone gloated about being taught klones IRP before being killed, even though they seemingly were not. I think it is already being looked into, but without any further context of what fully occurred, it would break the standard death rule of not referencing Monk Revival before death (in this case, klones), and you can argue that referencing klones as something that you have been taught would leave you in the PK clause of understanding or knowing of the process. Regardless of the incident that occurred, I think it is for the better for the small use cases it might be used in to prevent headaches in future.
  12. Wouldn't it be easier to just have this marked on the Tawkin FA as a hidden comment?
  13. The Okarir'Maehr in question was writhing in some dank place; she had only endured past the slaughter for a powerful vision had overtaken her, still it lingered, that searing image of what is to be, more terrible fates that seemingly cannot be avoided. She had not been seen since that day.
  14. Is it just one submission per person, or can I submit multiple? And just to be sure, does it 'consume' the painting?
  15. A Witch looks over the missive, her mind in furious turning as she looks forward to the coming years. 'WAR IS US, WE ARE WAR, WAR WAITED, FOR WE ARE WAR, AND WAR IS US, WE ARE WAR, WAR WAITED, FOR WE ARE WAR, AND WAR IS US." 'THE ULTIMATE ANSWER, THE ONE TRUTH, MIGHT IS RIGHT. TO BEAT YOUR ENEMY UNTIL THEY ARE BROKEN BEFORE YOU, AND REALITY IS MADE MANIFEST THROUGH THE CONFLICT.' 'WHY WOULD ONE DENY SUCH A GLORIOUS BIRTHRIGHT?' 'MORE TO COME, THOSE FOOLISH TO THINK THEY ARE UNBREAKABLE WHILE COVETING AND CRAVING AND DESIRING AND WANTING. THEY WILL BE MADE TO KNEEL, FOR THEIR ONLY PURPOSE IS FOR LEGION.' 'WHATS THIS? THE FINAL SHAPE? CAN IT BE?'

  17. "Unfortunately, I am reminded of the death throes of Celia'nor. There are only so many times I can rant about forgotten history and self-made disaster before I lose all interest in these inconsequential political divides. The choice is clear for Haelun'or to survive." Upon concluding the thought, the woman merely drew on paper various shapes in regard to her studies, those eyes idly watching as she spun the drawing compass.
  18. Dump the $Pallo Stock. He has been exposed as a hack lore writer.
  19. LotC can only go between 1.21.5-1.21.8, otherwise, I would probably just use the very latest that LotC can.
  20. Me when I bitch and cry and whine about how lame it was Mojang never added the modding API and they decide to remove obfuscation instead.. Big things are coming for Java..
