  1. I'll be honest, I know very very little about recent bans or what many of these people even are accused of doing. I've heard a story here and there, so I don't have any place to speak as if I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the individuals and I won't attempt to. However, I do have general opinions on these topics. I've been part of LOTC for a long time, with long breaks in between my active periods and one reason I consider never returning is toxicity. Aka doxxing, ooc political bs, so on. I get it my my dude, this is a block game but I'm here, when I'm here, for enjoyment, for story, for roleplay, that's why we should all be here. Toxicity ruins roleplay communities. It should be punished. Now, when it comes to doxxing or doing things that target the literal person behind the screen, not their character or actions within the community, I will never feel bad for anyone who's permanently banned for that. It's disgusting and needless. When you have to resort to those things, you aren't cool, you aren't edgy, you didn't win, you're the loser. Hot take? Shouldn't be. Certain actions should receive not only harsh but swift punishment with no remorse. I saw some posts talking about "leaders were banned, that's bad" in short. In theory, yes, leaders being banned is bad for the community they lead but if it's leaders who not just break rules but break serious rules and target people behind the screen, they should 100% be handled roughly. Even if a leader is an RP role, it usually ends up being an OOC role as well. You are an example, you run how things are done (generally), you guide a sub-community within LOTC. If you are the one, as a leader, being overly toxic, doxxing, being racist, whatever, you are then setting a theme in your sub-community and now you are doing greater harm. If there are leaders who genuinely did some bad shit, got banned, I don't see how their actions that got them banned can defended because they are a leader? The ban should be /supported/ because they are a leader. Again, there is literally not one individual I'm targeting with this because like I said, I know very little about the specific details. I also want to say, staff can 100% do too much. I've been in many communities where staff have guidelines for how rules should be handled and because of ooc cliques or general bias, those rule guidelines are thrown out of a window and people are banned when they should have gotten warnings if anything at all. There are always questionable staff decisions in every rp community I've been in and it's very clear that staff can be humans like the rest of us, all the bad and good that comes with that. Though just because one staff decision was bad in your eyes, or one community member did something from this group, doesn't mean a blanket should be put over many people. I'm sure there's been many staff decisions over the years that people disagree with, many bans, rule changes, whatever it may be. Though again, as someone who often considers if it's worth being here because of all the toxicity I hear about, I'm damnnnnnn sure that there's many people who deserve their bans, leader or not. I also agree that probably regardless of the action, people should be contacted and communicated with once/before banned. I saw that issue come up here. Something that really sucks is being banned without any knowledge of why or any chance to defend. Everyone should have the opportunity to defend themselves at the least.

  3. This letter is hitting kinda different
  4. ==================== Change of ownership ==================== Following the death of Hakon Erling and his son, Nokah Erling, being of proper age, The Erling Company is hereby transferred in full ownership to Nokah Erling.
  5. Upon possible re-reading of the document, while the company started in Helena, it’s interests are throughout the whole of the Empire. This allows for much land use of potential future taverns.
  6. ======== The Erling Company ======== [A Josephite organization] Brief history: The Erling Company was founded by Hakon Erling, the previous Head of the Golden Skulls Company and ex-Sheriff of Oren. When Erling was Head of the Golden Skulls, a contracting company, a lot of his work was based around protection, bounties, and other alike services. He was much more used to jobs needing muscle, however, after Imperial law put a quick stop to the Skulls and he stepped down as Sheriff, Erling realized he needed to think outside of what he was used to, to support his growing and already large family. Living now in Helena, surrounded by an ocean of businesses such as the Carrington & Co., it was clear where he needed to bring his efforts, into business. With his already existing Erling Foundation, where he strives to give to the poor and children of Oren, it only made sense to create as many businesses and jobs for those poor as he could. This is when he got the idea to create a holding company, known as The Erling Company. This would allow him to create various businesses and venues securely, all the while giving work to those in need of it and supporting his family. What is The Erling Company: The Erling Company is a holding company, meaning by itself, it does not produce any good or services, rather, it holds ownership or shared ownership in various good or service producing businesses. The Erling Company will be looking to acquire all types of businesses from taverns, theaters, storefronts, any anything in between. Jobs: The company will offer a variety of jobs, putting people to work who need it. Many of the jobs will consist of good, reasonable work, rather than hard physical labor. Jobs can include - Tavern work - Security - Theater work - Art - Tailoring - Shop keeping - And much more Pledge to Charity: A pledge of The Erling Company is to send a good amount of it’s profits to The Erling Foundation, where those profits will then go towards charity work and grants, for the poor and children of the lands. The Erling Company will also support other charities with it’s future businesses. Erling finds this to be one of the vital parts of the company, to source income for a greater cause, giving back to his people. All businesses, all profit, will go towards charity work, no exception. 7. I just think there are better arguments for the tech lock. Even for things like this, I don’t mind some terraforming to shape the world/add cool places. Tor has an awesome look to it. Given, this is quite extreme terraforming, so I understand your point.
  8. I understand this is a pro gun argument at the bottom line and I’m very neutral on that topic. However, I can’t stand this argument. LoTC is a medieval /fantasy/ rp server. Magic, orcs, elves, obviously that’s not medieval because that’s fantasy. We have our medieval themes in things such as tech, building style, so on. Medieval themes are constantly explored, as are fantasy ones. Fantasy doesn’t exclude medieval and medieval doesn’t exclude fantasy.
  9. I think it mainly comes down to “flintlocks are cool and not that advanced tech wise” as to why people want them.
  10. Ok so my response is largely in part to the OP and the whole topic, though Esterlen makes a point here I’d like to address. First, I think one of the biggest concerns on this topic is flintlocks being added and being used unfairly and being used in “cringe” ways. We already have instances where people emote bows in such ways. I don’t think anybody wants to be rping their character walking down a road when “Billy ‘F*ck you’ Johnson” the bandit comes along to emote shooting your character for being an Imperial, or worse, an elf. As to address Esterlen’s point more specifically, at least the one part, in which he says “there is no one solid theme of LOTC”, I see that point but I disagree in this argument. The levels of fantasy and realism are mixed in a very unique way but I think it’s very reasonable to say we have unspoken lines at the least. Will LOTC ever have cars and trains? Gatling guns? Well I hope not, that’s clearly not the era we have established and I don’t believe it’s the kind of RP that’s expected here. While technically, we could lead LOTC in that direction, I don’t believe many want to. I could be wrong but that’s from my experience. With that, I think another big fear is just that, where flintlocks and/or muskets would then lead to. Would we see votes eventually for even more advanced tech? Better guns and so on? With the argument of “Well, we have flintlocks already, so”. Flintlocks are a step into a new tech level, where as right now, we are fantasy and medieval, magic and swords. So where I stand is, sure, add flintlocks and/or muskets if the community wants them but I’d only want to see them under certain terms: 1: They must be used in a strict manner and not let up to freedom of the user. There is a response in this thread with how rolling could work with them, which seems well thought out and fair 2: We have a line of tech we don’t cross in LOTC. I don’t really wish to see LOTC turn more modern than flintlocks tech wise. There could be some exceptions for things perhaps but weaponry is pretty significant. Would it hurt LOTC though if someone invents some magical toaster? I mean, not really. Cars, planes, trains, fully automatic weapons, these are things that would dramatically change the RP of LoTC, obviously and these are the things I wouldn’t want to see ever. Flintlocks are a step into
  11. True. Not worth the mina, since Curon is being rebuilt, not a big deal friend.
  12. The Skulls were given the tents after the Nottinghams were labeled as terrorists and removed by Curon.
  13. The Golden Skulls Company Brief History of the Skulls: The founder and Head of the Golden Skulls, Hakon Erling, had no intention of starting a company. Rather, his plan as an ex-enlisted soldier, was to be a solo guard for those who needed such services. He found himself in the Imperial city of Curon where he looked for solo work but was unable to find any. It was not long after, that he found his now 2nd in command, Alice. Together, they formed a group of men and women, offering protection to persons and entities. Eventually, this group become more structured, more established, and they sat down to officially call themselves a company. It was then, they began to expand, taking on new members and even different types of work. They have tried various avenues of business, some successful, some not. They were and in many ways, still are, a rag tag company, using their skills and abilities to earn coin. After failures and successes, they had sat down and reformed their company into something they saw as truly great, something that will last long after the founding members pass. What do the Golden Skulls do?: The Golden Skulls are what they call Contractors. They take jobs on a contract basis, never sticking to one employer for long. They get the job done, collect their coin, and move on to the next one. The current type of jobs that the Skulls take on are listed below: Body guarding Event/Transport Security Bounties Debt Collection Location: The Skulls are based out of Curon. There, they have a temporary camp with a barracks and a command tent. However, they plan on getting a better area of operations very soon [ The Golden Skulls’ temporary camp in Curon. Soon to be moved out of ] Code of Silence: The Golden Skulls very much believe in a Code of Silence. This means that no information about a job or client will be given to anyone outside the company. This is to secure the safety of a client as well as the client’s privacy. Anyone who breaks this Code of Silence is often times removed from the Company and if not removed, harshly corrected. Company and Brotherhood: While the Golden Skulls call themselves a company, they very much think themselves a brotherhood. Although there is a Head rank in the company, they often times will discuss matters among each other to form a solution as a team. In fact, during their frequent meetings, sometimes they take a company vote on a matter. This idea of teamwork and brotherhood, is not only existing within the Golden Skulls naturally, it is enforced. You have your brother’s back and they have yours. General Rules: ( Rules generally known to the public) - No children will be harmed during a job - The Skulls fight in no wars - Clients are asked no more questions than necessary - Follow the Code of Silence - Breaking of company rules can result in removal from the company Payment: The Golden Skulls are paid on both a weekly basis as well as paid for the jobs they work. The money earned from a job, goes to the company, where it is then split evenly among the ones who worked the job. A percentage of job pay is taken out for the company. Ranking: Head: The Head is the lead of the company’s entire management. While certain ranks are allowed power over things that don’t require the Head’s approval, the Head knows of all that is going on and has executive power in all matters. The Head can also demote any rank at will, should they choose, as well as change the structures of the ranking and the company. It is only them who can give the green light for promotions to Capo and to Underboss. They may also call company meetings and are the only one who can call a vote on matters. Underboss: The Underboss is the 2nd in command of the company. They not only advise the Head in matters, they are given the most responsibility out of any other rank than the Head itself. They have full control over operations of recruitment and also make sure that the day to day operations of the company are running smoothly, between all other ranks. They are also given the power to accept contracts on behalf of the company. Should an internal issues rise in the company, it is brought up the chain of command to the Underboss. At that point, the Underboss has enough power in the company to resolve it there in most matters. However, should it be significant enough, it is taken to the Head. Lastly, the Underboss has the power to fire a Prospect at will. Capo: A Capo is responsible for keeping the ranks below them in order. This includes making sure they understand the company policies and structure. They are also in charge of organizing and operating training of the lower ranks. This training can include sword training, bow training, hand to hand combat, protection training, and so on. Often times, Capos will be given jobs within the company such as Quartermaster, Log Keeper, and others. Capos are expected to follow the chain of command unless necessary to go straight to the Head. Member: Members are certified Skulls. They are more likely to work a job than a Prospect and unlike Prospects, they can not be fired by the Underboss alone, in order for a Member to be fired, it must involve the Head. Members are also given the power to vote in meetings, when a matter is brought to a vote. Members are expected to follow the chain of command, going to their respective Capo. If their issues lies with the Capo themselves, they can go to the Underboss. They are also part of a partnership program within the Skulls, where they are teamed up with a Prospect and are expected to take them around the lands, correct them if they make a mistake, teach them, and overall, show them how to be a proper Member. Prospect: Prospects are new recruits to the company. They are given basically no power, except the occasional job but are still paid weekly. They must learn from their partnered Member as well as the Capos. Chain of command must be followed, which mainly goes without saying. 14. How does C affect seeing who’s online? Like can you still PM people in a different region?
  15. I have your concerns too. Sometimes, characters just need to be killed. Which is why Give and Take will probably be pretty situational. Just the other day, I was involved in a troll rp which was not fun for anyone involved other than the trolls. I did not have this standard post to turn to. All they had to give was a sort of proper reason for the rp taking place and boom, can’t really reject it. Now, in such cases, where characters for the sake of example are saying “That’s not very cash money of you” which happened in my case, I trust a mod with the standards set, to argue in my favor against such rp. In that troll rp, there was no give from the trolls, at all. It was clearly all take and had there been a “give”, it would have ended much better.
  16. Thank god. Luckily, I haven’t not ran into much troll or low quality rp, most people have been wonderful but I’ve had some certain encounters recently that just kill RP. ?
  17. Great seeing you again!

You too! I hope the druids treat you well

  18. Wow. It has been a longggggg time man, hope you are doing well. In the case you see my app, yes it's Borum's skin but I will be touching it up to not make it a Borum copy. I am playing Borum's son because that's going to be very fun for me. Seeing as you know me and are staff here, wanted to point that out.

Just in case it comes up as an issue, I was banned from this community 5 years ago. Yes, 5 years ago. I was young and dumb, however, I ended up making an alt account due to a rule change and appealing my ban. It got appealed and I returned to the community for I believe a week before leaving on my own, for about another year or two. So now, as it's been so long and I was under a different name when I joined back, I am making an application. I'm not so sure if I had to but seeing as my situation is a bit complicated and spans 5 years, I did so. The appeal made by the way was on a different forum account and I have no idea which one or what the login info is. Hopefully this is not actually a problem seeing how long it's been but might as well explain. Thank you!

Redok Redsand, a human Highlander grew up in a fishing village just outside of the Kingdom of Renatus with his father. Redok knew his mother as a child and while still alive, she is a far and unknown distance from Redok and his father Borum. Together, Redok and his father spent days fishing, talking about how nice it must be for royalty, arguing about ways to catch bigger and better fish, as well as just sitting in quiet, fishing peacefully, living day to day. Nothing was ever complicated for Redok, it was all fishing, eating, sleeping, doing it all over again. Some days, Redok would dabble in crafting. Crafting of wooden tools, weapons, even tried his hand at making little boats. Redok never knew what his true purpose in life was and secretly, he hoped it was not fishing. Redok's father is what some would call a simpleton. Coming to these lands when Redok was a child, his father was often mocked for his odd ways of speaking and dim witted attitude. Though Redok always loved his father for what he was and he always taught Redok well. However, Redok is not the brightest himself. He is a man more of strength, fishing, and crafting, more than he is a scholar. Now, at age 24, Redok opens his eyes wider to the world, plans to be something more than a fisherman and make his father proud, as well as The Creator himself.
