CANONISM | Destruction of Hohkmat
Hodgehog replied to Werew0lf's topic in The Church of the True Faith
A passing farfolk man looked up towards the city in horror. Acrid smoke snaked its way into his lungs, his eyes stung as heat emanated from the city. Looking up into the sky, white figures danced and cavorted as they brought ruin to the Academy below. He trekked across the mountainside, hoping to avoid the notice of that heavenly host. There, he heard it. The sounds of crying from the city, barely noticeable over the crackling flames. The crying of a baby. Shaking his head, he pulled himself up onto the stone walkway. His hands burned as molten rock oozed across the cobbles. With a leap across the fractured ruins of the city, he made his way into a collapsed house - the ceiling fallen through. There, by a miracle, lay the source of the cries. A kha’tigrasi babe. Its face was half-burnt, its fur scorched by the licking flames - but alive. Ignoring the smell of his own burning skin, the man reached down, lifting the abandoned kha baby. His lungs screamed for air as flames coursed over his body. A beam collapsed ahead, sending embers spiraling through the air. He winced as they rained down, burning into his flesh. The babes cries grew louder. Gritting his teeth, he leapt across the fallen beam and sprinted out of the city. Jumping onto his horse, the man spurred it forward with all his might, sending it racing toward Numenost. As he fled, out of the corner of his eye he would see it. A presence watching him. High in the sky, a robed creature hovered, its gaze burning with contempt at his defiance. [OOC Note: If anyone would like to play the abandoned baby - Send me a message!] -
THE AWAKENING EARTH South-East of the White City of Numenost, high upon the rugged slopes of a jungle plateau, a deep tremor echoed and raged. It was as if the earth itself had awoken from slumber. Jagged rock split and tore along ancient fault lines. The once-still mountain air, heavy with the smell of moisture and dew, vibrated with a low, ominous hum. Flocks of birds flew in panic from their rock-tipped perches, disturbed animals hurtled across the rainforest as the rumbling continued. In the city itself, tremors rippled across the bustling streets and markets. No home was spared from its wrath. Noblemen and ladies paused, reaching for their fine china - unable to stop the movement beneath their feet. In the palace, delicate chandeliers rocked too and fro, the glass chimes barely heard over the thunderous earth. Above, white spires and stone rooftops groaned, the work of the stonemasons tested as loose rock and ancient dust was sent cascading into the city below. Above the epicenter of the earthquake, beyond the white walls of the city, was where the true force of the shuddering earth could be seen. Atop the cliff, great slabs of rock tumbled and crashed into the lake. The trees of the rainforest, there long before Numenost rose around them, bent and twisted, their roots clinging desperately onto the shifting earth. Boughs swayed, thrown too and fro as they wrestled with what moved below. And upon those steeped cliffs behind Numenost, something ancient was revealed. From beneath the landslide of mud and rock, a small opening of a cave beckoned. From its dark maw drifted a stagnant, fungal air, thick with the smell of decay. The stench carried with it the faint smell of blood and rot. Inside, an eerie gloamlight pulses. Stone walls marked with a soft, bluish hue emanating from creeping fungi. Then, silence. The tremor had unsettled the land, but for a few days the earth lay in an uneasy truce. The jungle returned to a cautious normalcy while the people of Numenost sighed in relief, grateful for the quake’s end. However… This peace was short-lived. On the fourth day, another tremor rumbled across the land, then the same on the fifth - and the sixth! Though less powerful than the first, they were unmistakable in their presence. With each tremor, the cause for investigation grew. What if the shaking spread? What if the quake’s grew stronger!? And on that rumbling hillside, the cave beckons.

"This man no doubt supports the free sale of voidal items within the Port. I'd highly recommend voting for such a fellow, afterall, denizens of the Dominion do love their magic despite the minorities objections!" Antras would say to a select few, whilst sorting a number of goods in his shop.

"I will be receiving all my news from DNN from now on, it seems to be a trustworthy source." The merchant would say, briefly scanning over the article.

Do you have any rp items for sale?

You claimed an animal starved as a joke? What are you man, some kind of sick monster?!?!?!?! Seriously tho, it's not even that dark as dark humour goes, I've heard far worse. If that rustles your jimmies, I recommend staying indoors. Thought this was real for a few minutes, then remembered the date. Seems like you keep the position of treasurer, for now.

[ET Art & Writing Contest] Seasons of Atlas

Antras Dreyvon has tried his hand at drawing an image of a bare tree. Content at what he's made, the merchant would sigh softly, returning to his work. Snow's Maiden -
[Archived][Atlas] Character Theme Songs!
Hodgehog replied to thesaintjaleel's topic in Axios OOC Archive
Antras's Theme Song: An unscrupulous merchant who hides beneath a shield of politeness, considering himself a friend of any with minas or items to interest him. The phrase 'doesn't cost you to be nice' is apparent when dealing with this fellow. I believe this song to be relevant, with a theme which constantly stumbles over itself resembling an old mans walk.
