  1. Something I like about this change as opposed to some I've seen, that may not be considered: For mystics to know your phylac was destroyed, they'll need to know where it is (or watch you get banished in front of them, requiring you to be online). This means that, if I want the security of a revival ritual, I need to trade off the security of nobody knowing where my phylac is and thus include it in roleplay. Forcing wights to include their phylac in roleplay, even if it takes the trade off of more resilience, seems like a good change for barrowlord hunters while also giving all the wights I know a little peace of mind. Maybe include that each mystic has to donate a soul fragment in the process? That would incentivize stronger mystics contributing to consolidate the number, and would introduce some cost to the revival
  2. I think that would technically be metaplay rather than game, and I don't have any screenshots of ooc agreements to do it. I think some folks just want to rp with their friends, and it's mutually beneficial (ic as well) to do some basic teaching Nothing wrong with it imo, and no rules broken afaik but it diminishes some of the coolness of darkspeech
  3. Maybe mystic-scrubbing-like abilities for void stuff, such as un-enchanting or similar? I'm only just starting my void understanding journey but that kind of "veil repair" seems reasonable :)
  4. "Oh thank Yemekar, finally. A clan who cares!"
  5. A Tengu who had recently met new friends in the Horde lets out a battle cry. "Down they'll fall! Barrowlords are no match for wariwari, for URUKHIM!"
  6. "Splendid," calls an incessant Sorvian who keeps declaring himself as wise. He leaves a little slip of paper tucked where it would be easy to find: "For the purchase of the proposal meteor, four hundred minas from Akenzaemon and his Betrothed-To-Be." A small amendment is scrawled on, later: "Six hundred, if I do not need be burdened by waiting."
  7. I came in to +1, but reading the comments I have to agree with Security. As much as I want my darkspeech spam to be unique and esoteric and unknowable, I think expanding rp is a better solution than diminishing it. An amendment should happen, but maybe this is the wrong lore to amend? The only real exception for me is Moonspeech, which I think should remain very locked. Even master voidalists and atronachs can't learn it by default, so it being unteachable makes sense The thing that irks me more than the fact the language can be taught is, as you said, how some chars will just get a buddy to help them so they can icly decode stuff forevermore. But I think it's darkspeakers' responsibility to gatekeep, if we want to keep it gatekept
  8. Seems really cool! Afaik arcane hindering is just aesthetic so expending it seems reasonable
  9. Enchanted chestplate that gives you voidal sickness if you slap and rub your belleh. Dwarves in shambles. Jokes aside, +1 regardless of context it's a nice clarifier
  10. The Synodic custodian, a mere Sorvian charged with caring for countless Undead, kept his stoic and faceless gaze upon the missive in his motionless hands. "An ugly word; the Old are so called to their Primeval Ways and their sleeping terms." A few moments pass, and then seconds, and then hours in silence before the Sorvian finishes his thought. "But it is not my place to pass Judgement. That is Razaak's charge."
  11. Approved. Your Club submission has been moved into Active Clubs. Unrelatedly, Swgrclan has been found dead in his home. We are all grieving for his loss and have no idea who did this.
  12. Wize Akenzaemon, the Sorvian put to death for the crimes of another, sits in the Death Dream. Even in this state of mere mentality, he sits perfectly still as he muses to himself. "What is death, to His Progeny? It is not like this, for the vile and the beautiful are sent to very different types of Hell." As beloved family members lament the loss of their youngest son Akenzaemon, they source lifeblood and suitable clay -- for the poor construct was always picky about his body -- and begin to make him anew. As he feels the tug on his twin Iota, he begins in his dream... To cry. "I am not ready. I have not studied this place enough. I could not find the entrance... I will wait behind. GO, VERDANT BELEDRAN! PAINT THE WORLD GREEN AND WAIT FOR ME!"
  13. Hello to all the little floating things, and to the fools.

  14. A hedge knight clad in aurum plate reads over the missive, musing to himself: "The things we do for coin... I pray only to come home in one piece."
  15. Beyond the lands of Aevos, a nameless Pale Lord sat in a prison beyond reality. Prayers were spoke into its vessel, but word did not come. Not until a certain voice, risen from anguish, spoke into the Chromaborn Receptacle. "Gul Zu'Pzym... The Wraith of Wrath..." spoke Strife, weakly, from his veiled entrapments. "Welcome. . . Home." Rancor was not a thing to celebrate, and nor was loss. But the waking crux of Svanhild's freedom would earn celebration nonetheless.
  16. This is very similar to the system for Paleknights -- which, ironically, is the one good thing about them right now. If you want to force-pk an undead, this system still works, and provides a lot more engaging rp. Once you find the phylactery, you can either destroy it and begin hunting the undead or hide your knowledge of the phylac, kill them, and break it before they respawn. This lends to the vibe of outwitting the synod which a lot of people are excited by. This change only really gets rid of the option to go random phylac hunting and right-clicking around the whole world (as most draugurs and wights very rarely return to their phylactery). It doesn't stop people from pk-ing the undead, it only involves the undead in the rp of their death. Requiring the help of others is also a good change because it enables backstabbing, sabotage, etc. TL;DR I like the change. Maybe make it more expensive for wights idk. Cost some soul shards or something. Or make it like menhirs, where you don't instantly know your phylac was destroyed. This means people need to go check, which makes it more possible to hunt for if you stalk people.
  17. If a really cool and lovely player who shall remain anonymous wanted to get into lore writing, where would you suggest to start? Just come up with a low impact idea and jot away? Find something already going on and try to pitch in? Dive straight into the deep end?
  18. [!] Following the death of Zu'e, this missive is sent to the hands of all Mystics of the Order of Xion or the Abdast Order, as well as to the friends and so-called family of the lost. It is written in the language of Darkspeech. [!] To all who shine in Dark's Shadow, Today, I have become the Herald of Strife. I imagine that my days are limited, so I write now that my words may be heard when I am bereft of my title or when I perish. My position is one held by few among Strife, yet by many of its Heralds. Talar'Shen, Fornotos, and now I have each felt an inclination. The Pen is mightier than the Sword. For a Way that believes in the fight everlasting, it is odd to find myself clashing through words and doctrine as well as blades. Still, in the fated battlefield, I wish we will all be true Champions. The Ways of Xion are each holy endeavors, but we have fallen out of sync. Recently, I have fought and fallen against a Herald -- or, I suppose, another Herald -- over the notion that his direction was not his Way's. What folly of me. The unraveling of the Ways from their shared exigence and alliance into mere shards will be the death of Xion, and I have helped that death along. I hope now that my devotion to Strife, and to all Xion, will help to mend our straying hands even as no other Herald stands awake. In life, my duty was to protect. My purpose was tied to life and to the Progenitor. In death, my duty changed. I was no longer the Shield, she was no longer the Voice. We were both shield and sword and voice at once. In truth, death made me redundant. Ascension brought only pain, losing sense to the souls within me who despise my commands and eat at my memories. My memory of Her will remain, even if I have lost my path or my life. This is my first command written, but the last any of you will read: Protect the line of Rykov-Ottovas. It exists in spirit and in flesh; there is a survivor of the Progenitor out there, the Child of Dark. Do not let death strip away duty; I am survived by many Champions who will do better than I have done. With kindred affection, Herlurazhna Garzu Zu'e. Friend. [!] Thus ends Zu'e's writ, but attached to the missive is a depiction of his demise, authored by four Mystics. [!] To whom it may concern, Pale Lord Zu'e has died beyond the reach of revival. No Maleficar or Anathema can claim credit for his demise, but instead the Chromaweave is responsible. His death has been wrought with purpose; it is an act of creation, not destruction. All who held dealings with Pale Lord Zu'e are requested to seek out a Champion of Strife (or a trusted Champion) for redirection to the proper prophet. These Champions include, but are not limited to: Brother Urk'ezg Ghaaz, Sister Gul Zu'Pzym, Brother Ryker, Other Brother Ryker, The Third Revelator, or your local Barrowlord. [!] In addition to this more public missive, a few letters have been individually sent out after the Lord's death. [!] Svanhild Tqiko Barrowlord Khor Fornotos Barrowlord Makabian Urk'ezg Ghaaz Nataya OOC NOTE: Fly high, monarchs of my heart.
  19. I noticed that it says knights or lords with the appropriate augments can be used to help (which I love), but lords can't have augments and don't have either of the mentioned abilities. Do pale lords need an MArt that encompasses these abilities to assist, or can they help the process naturally without augmentation?
  20. SMH should have been rolled out with a prophecy post.
  21. [!] In the square of the Karoslund, a bloodied animii hand is left. Still within its grasp is a scroll of parchment. Those who knew him would easily recognize Cardan van Leuven's hand. [!] To the denizens of The Karoslund, You are met on this day with a terrible fate. Despite your success in showing me death, your renowned songbird has fallen. He rests in an unmarked tomb surrounded by unmarked tombs, in a catacomb from which no soul meets the light of the Seven Skies. This is his penance, and it goes paid. Perhaps it seems to you all a wild and unfashionable falsehood. I have stormed into your land and laid down one of my many lives, merely to capture a single one of your people. Let it be known that I would have gone to far greater lengths, were you not so weak to allow my first onslaught a costly victory. I intended to levy many strikes upon your vassal. I planned to join the undead who plagued your people. Perhaps I will, anyway. You will never understand the damage you have wrought upon me, the deeds you have done to incur my wrath. I will not explain them, not until you are all ready to tremble before the consequence upon you all. The Songbird was the perfect example. He knows now of his deeds, and he died begging not for mercy, but for forgiveness. He was not the only man at fault, but he was the prime showcase of the sin of your folk. Expect to see me soon. Prepare for me. Protect the next ones I shall capture: Lady Mikhaila Colbron, a member of the Weiss family, and a Royal. Your preparations will fail you, but ready your defenses and take pride knowing you did all you could. With lost affection, Pale Lord Zu'e. Peace Breaker, Strife, Legate of the Pale Legion, Prophet of the King Beneath, Lover of flowers.
  22. Would the respawn timer change to match ghosts? Would the body be a new one, or the same? It's a mechanical question -- I understand something would change to improve accessibility <3
  23. One clarifying question: If this is real -- and it passes -- what happens to ghouls? Currently, they need a necro to revive them. Will there be something to simplify this process? Maybe like homunculi's revival period? Or will it be a pk on first death CA?
  24. All hail Sohaer Morgan! -- Jokes aside, I'm really happy to see that the team cares to handle and resolve situations like this. I'm a big fan of Llir and I believe that they meant no ill will or intention. It's hard to see change in a community we love and I respect the absolute shit out of coming forward to everybody like this.
  25. So true, sending malchadiael after Mordring would absolutely be pointing a cannon (all hail the king beneath) at a rabbit (malchadiael) Wait...... Why isn't Mordring praising me for praising him? What do you mean ASLEEP?
