~ The Mossbeards ~

 

 

~ History ~

 

The splitting of clans was in 1426 when the dwarves arrived to Asulon. Orist found it fit to break off from his grandfather's clan, that being the great Treebeard Clan but still Orist wanted the name to resemble his grandfather’s great clan. So at the last the Mossbeards were made. Orist wanted to create a new start from his people and that his kin will be accepted by the majority of cave and mountain dwarves and not to be frowned upon because of their looks and culture.

 

Orist searched far and wide across Asulon when they landed searching for long lost family members but succeeding to find none but just a few forest dwarves scattered throughout elven land, trying to make a living. As time went on, countless wars and raids put forest dwarf kin at risk while in lands of the elves. Many were killed by the antagonists and many slain by raiders. Yet in this current time as war strives between human and dwarf, Orist wants to make a home for his people even more than before to ensure their safety and none other will be harmed in this dark times and future times to come ahead.

~ Culture ~

 

Religion

 

The mossbeards religion varies between two kinds. While the Mossbeards pray and respect Anbella the hearth mother the most out of the Brathmordahkin, yet they also can choose to believe in the aspects. Forest Dwarves spend a lot of their time in the forests and at once with nature. It is highly likely to see them worshiping to the aspects as well.

 

Honour

 

The Mossbeards believe in honour a lot most like any other cave or mountain dwarf. However in most forest dwarves eyes honour is a much different thing. If you help a fellow mossbeard in a time of need he will be grateful and always respect you the entirety of your life, however if you don’t help and never look back in a time of need. This may haunt you since then the mossbeard might have a hatred for you until yet such task will be deemed for the individual to be unforgiven

 

Communal Greed

 

Just like our cousins, the mossbeards still have be struck by the curse of greed, however forest dwarves tend to deal with the greed a lot better. In the Mossbeards we do not strive to be wealthier than our own kin but yet to share the money and make use of the money to benefit our community.

 

Respect

 

Mossbeards believe in respect a lot and it is a key idea and belief within the clan. In the mossbeards you respect every other kin, human etc with the same respect until they have done something that pleases you and doesn’t. Respect is also very key since when Gloin first started the forest dwarves and broke off from the cave and mountain dwarves, many were laughed at, so this will not be tolerated within the clan.

 

Farming

 

Most forest dwarves like to farm a lot, even though where they live the forest is hard to grow crops in. Yet the mossbeards grips the forests earth and sows it and mainly plants wheat and potatoes, which our diet is mainly consisted of. Also where the mossbeards live, the keen interest in growing mushrooms have increased.

 

Lumberjacking and woodworking

 

The Mossbeards look over the dwarven forests and reside within everyday. After spending so much time in the trees the mossbeards have came to grips with cutting down trees and carving beautiful sculptures to perfection.

 

 

~ Brewing ~

 

The mossbeards like most other forest dwarves love to brew ales and all sorts using berries and produce found and grown in the forest. Forest dwarves are well known for their expertise in the fine art of brewing and the Mossbeards are no exception. Brewing is a major tradition within the clan and once a year clan members gather to brew and to hold a festival for all to join to taste and try the brews.

 

~ Appearance ~

 

The Mossbeards look like any other forest dwarf, with their skin being an often darker colour than the cave dwarves or the mountain dwarves. This is because over the centuries, their skin's pigments changed greatly and became darker meaning the darker skin tone than most other dwarves. Because of the diet forest dwarves eat, mainly being potatoes, fish, bread and berries and that forest dwarves are actively moving about in the forest, the mossbeards are then much smaller than cave or mountain dwarves. The Mossbeards also have very small beards or none at all, because forest dwarves don't’ eat meat in high quantity so the beard doesn’t grow as much. Hair and beard colour varies between greenish browns to browns and also white hair while at an older age.

He is tall, by Forest-Dwarf standards, (not that that's saying alot) and resembles a Mountain-Dwarf in height and stockiness. However, his beard is well-kept and short, as is the norm amongst Forest-Dwarves; his skin also bears a tan as, again, is common with his people;  his very long and thick hair has been tied into a single braid, reaching well past his neck and halfway to his back. The rest of his head is shaved. He wears the same green, somewhat worn tunic that his father left behind when he left. His boots and gloves are brown, and his eyes a dull jade. He is not very muscled, but nor is he fat. (Despite his appetite for treats such as fish, berries and other delicacies nature provides)
