lukejes 55 Share Posted March 25, 2014 The Merchant’s Guild The Merchant’s Guild of the Dwarves was once great and it shall grow great once again. It is no secret a curse of greed afflicts the dwedmar, and so a new guild motto has been decided on: NIGHI DERMIN OZ KRAVIIL BRING GREED TO DEATH This philosophy is expected to be withheld by all members of the guild, at all times. The Guild The purpose of the Merchants guild is to strengthen the dwarven economy by; increasing trade, and relations with other nations; creating a constant source of profit to increase the wealth of the kingdom; and bring goods to citizens through trade which otherwise would be unavailable. Tasks -To fortify and further the great dwarven economy. -Establish trade both in and outside of the kingdom. -Collect taxes on shops and housing in the kingdom. -Monitor the flow of the kingdom's wealth and assets. -Secure Dwarven interest in other lands. Rights of the Guildmembers -The right to sell your merchandise in the kingdom, and it's vassals. -The right of protection. You and your interests are in the protection of the kingdom. -The right to own a shop in Urguan and it's vassals. -The right to sponsorship. -The right to deflated prices and discounted property and material. Sponsorship If you wish to buy something, but cannot afford it you may ask for sponsorship. If you are of the guild, and trusted and have a good proposal then you will be given the minas required or the location required for a shop. A sponsored business must give 40% of their profits to the Guild, until they are able to pay back what they owe the guild. If failed to pay the 40% rate per week the property will be taken from you and resold. The payment may be minas, or directly paid in items of equal value. Other Benefits -Reduced pricing on a personal trade with the kingdom. -Ability to direct certain finds and deals. -Leverage in bartering and outbidding. -May call upon economic help from the merchant guild. -Loans. -A Network of Merchants at your disposal. Urguan Economics: A Merchant's Guild Trade Report Edition One Taxes The purpose of taxes is to create a stable, constant source of income for the benefit of the kingdom. All dwarves, and non dwarves living within the border of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan are required to pay a weekly tax to the Grand Merchant, who then deposits it in the Kingdom Vault. -Arkon- Currently, all taxes within Arkon follow the prices stated below. Houses: All houses within the city have had their square meters counted and organized. Please note that upper levels are included in these counts, as well as areas obstructed by chests, furnaces, and other similar objects. Stairs have not been counted. Houses 1-20 meters squared are 80 minas, 21-40 meters squared are 100 minas, 41-60 meters squared are 120 minas, 61-80 meters squared are 140 minas, and 81-100 meters squared are 160 minas. All owners of houses 101 meters squared to 150 meters squared must pay 180 minas. All houses between 151 meters squared and 200 meters squared must pay 220 minas. All houses above 300 meters squared must pay 280 minas. Dwedmar are allowed to own as many homes as they wish, but are expected to pay for them all. Shops: All shops within the city cost 50 minas in tax every other elven week. All shop owners are required to join the Merchant’s Guild. Dwedmar are allowed to own as many shops as they wish, but are expected to pay for them all. Ranks - The Grand Merchant - This is the leader of the Merchant’s Guild, he oversees the economy and is responsible to maintain a balance in Urguan and make sure that everyone pays their taxes. It is the Grand Merchant’s job to arrange trade caravans and policies with others in the kingdom. He is responsible for the economical dwarven interests all over the kingdom and outside it. The Grand Merchant has the authority to define the pricing of all the kingdom's goods, services of the kingdom, homes, wages, taxes and tariffs if implemented. - The High Treasurer - The job of the Treasurer is much like the job of the Grand Merchant, he assists the Grand Merchant and is the second in command of the Merchant’s Guild. He is often tasked with the selling of houses, leading of caravans, and other interests of the kingdom. The Grand Merchant and the Grand King are the two with the final say though. The High Treasurer is chosen by the Grand Merchant after proving him or herself in merchanting and minas. The High Treasurer is a likely candidate to replace the Grand Merchant after he resigns or is deemed unfit for his position, although he by no means is required to be. - Treasurers of the guild - The treasurers verify all of the accounts that the guild house is responsible for, they are the ones that do most of the paperwork. They keep track of who is supposed to pay what, when and where. They are the ones that keep track of the other kingdoms and match Urguan's prices accordingly. Treasurers will be asked to do a wide range of activities, often recording where the kingdom’s money is coming and going. - Merchants of the guild - All merchants under the kingdom of Urguan are in this category, if they are not signed up in the guild then they lose their rights to sell in the kingdom, and their shops are taken from them. This is to keep track of all those who sell in dwarven land. They are given special rights. There is absolutely no negative reason whatsoever for a merchant of any type living in dwarven lands to refuse to join the guild unless they are stark raving mad. Roaster Grand Merchant: Kwint “Goldgut” Irongut ((lukejes)) High Treasurer: Maletone Grandaxe ((aquaticsunnymoss)) Treasurers: Lord Onar Ireheart - Enrollment - Please note that none are allowed to apply for the position of High Treasurer. That is the Grand Merchant’s decision and the Grand Merchant’s alone. ~Merchant Application~ Name: Mc Name: Current Affiliation: Shops Owned (You are not required to have a shop): Shop Name(s): Shop Location(s): Types of wares: Do you swear to uphold our motto “Nighi Dermin Oz Kraviil?” ~Treasurer Application~ Name: Mc Name: Do you believe you are skilled enough in the ways of economics and minas?
