Cultural Reform

-A letter sits upon a desk in the Eternal Library. It is written on plain, yet refined paper. Upon it is inscribed, in lively strokes, letters in an organized writing pattern-

We need to be honest with ourselves,

There is a problem with the culture of the city and we need to fix it, lest we force ourselves to live in a foreign community that is less than optimal for our race.

Addressing the Issue:

1) High Elves are highly cold and insult others often.

Let us ask the question: Is it logical for a High Elf to insult another High Elf?

According to Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya, we should be in favor of progress and health. Where, in an insult, is found either progress or health? An insult is meant to damage. It is a weapon that causes harm unto other High Elves and inhibits the constructive capacity of our people.

It is urgent that we seek to halt behavior that harms or otherwise inhibits Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya and prevents progress and health. Consider this, lliran.

2) What about those that are not High Elves? Is it okay to attack them physically and mentally?

Again, according to Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya, we should be in favor of whatever causes health and progress. If we anger another race, to the point that they destroy us. Where is the progress and health in that?

It is imperative that we resolve this issue before we, as a nation, are destroyed, let us prevent our progress, and our health, from destruction...

Perhaps you deserved to die if you were illogical enough to insult an ogre and ended up with your head smashed to the ground. You may have wished to enlighten to ogre of his lack of enlightenment, but insulting him only made him ignore you and that which you wished to inform him of. Perhaps he would have listened if you said it in a nicer, more polite way; he might have considered this fault that you wanted to tell him about in the first place, but due to your illogical, irrational decision, your face was smashed to the ground and he didn't listen to you, and now he wants to smash other high elves to the ground and prevent progress and health even more.

If you are polite to others when you educate them about a fault they have, they might actually listen;  even if they are uneducated and still don't understand, there is less chance that they will smash you, that which you love, our progress, and our health to the ground.

Please consider this, lliran, that we may may exult in Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya.

-There is little to no space available at the bottom for responses, indicating that responses are not desired: action is.-

(you may post your thoughts, but they would be your character talking aloud or thinking it to him or herself, as there is almost no space at the bottom for responses.)

A tiiiiiiny smiley face is drawn wherever there's space on the bottom.

(Edit: I've changed out all the word that says "nation" and replaced it with "people" being as the High Elves aren't going to have a nation for long. However, the principles apply whether or not a nation.)

((Technically the HE never were their own nation. Just a city-state/sub-nation. Which they will continue to be regardless of where they are.))

((I'd rather not get bogged down about the term used to describe a group of people in english and instead focus more about the message that states that when we insult, we as a people hurt communally; but thank you for the thought.))

Seth raises an eyebrow as he reads it. "Hmm, atleast someone still has a functioning mind. If just he or she did not attempt to hide. Maybe a new Sohear?" He shakes his head a little before carry on with his daily thingies.
