A Letter To The Temple

A large Tigrasi sits cross legged atop a mountain over looking Gronkkston. His breath is calm and even, his mood relaxing as time passes on. He sits with his eyes closed practicing 'Bee Breath' like he was taught just a month ago. Slowly he opens his eyes and with the little bravery he can muster, the Khararyr pulls forth a roll of parchment, some ink, and a brush of horse hair. Calmly the beast begins to drag the brush across the paper. After many hours the Kharajyr finally finishes his letter, the ground is littered with discarded rolls. His failed attempts. With sad eyes, the Kharajyr has accepted his fate. He climbs to his feet, rolls up the parchment and sets off to find an aviary, for he does not believe it wise to deliver it himself. Not with the crime he has committed. Finding one, he sends the bird off, fluttering to its new destination, the letter reads.

Dear Priests of Mother Moon,

I have long since hidden myself from my people,

the others of Metztli's Blessed.

I am an outcast in the minds of my people,

I am an Ape'Kharajyr, something to be hunted for sport.

I had walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our old home.

In self-imposed exile I fled under the cover of night,

I fled from my fears of becoming a sacrifice to our goddess.

I am a coward, a corrupted Kharajyr, and a fiend,

I am damned to walked the world alone, with no place to call home.

I have walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our home.

I have clawed and tore my way to victory in battle,

Aided by the Drink, lost in Metztli's Ways.

I am a warrior in build not a warrior in heart,

I am a drinker of blood and eater of flesh.

I have walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our home.

I have returned on this day to ask for forgiveness,

to prove I have lost my old ways.

I am awakened to the faults of my past,

I am accepting to the wrong I have done.

I have walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our home.

Allow me trial in the face of Metztli,

let the goddess choose my fate.

I am a sacrifice to be made in the mortal lands or the afterlands,

I am a gift giver of bodies, mine own a possible choice.

I have walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our home.

Allow the Goddess to deem my fate,

as I have forgotten the drink and am learning to control the fear.

I am a student under Lion the Horror,

I am a learning of new ways.

I have walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our home.

If the Goddess decides it is my time to go,
I will not fight, I will not beg.
I am a coward in battle, not a coward in spirit.
I am a fool in time, not a fool in present.

I have walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our home.

If the Goddess deems me worthy of life,
allow me to be inducted into the Temple.
I am an eager student,
I am a believer of faith.

I have walked the lands of Anthos,

since before my brothers themselves fled our home.

The poem is signed, 'So'Zaka' and a large drop of blood is dripped in the center of the 'O'.

((As a new Kharajyr, I decided to give my character a fatal flaw like I do in all of my previous characters. He was an alcoholic, strictly forbidden by his religion. After struggling with an internal war, he was given council by Lion. After learning to rid himself of the bottle, So'Zaka decided to prove to Metztli that he is worthy of her blessings he would strive to become a Priest and preach in her name, hold daily sacrifices and do whatever it took to appease his goddess. I have written this letter as a way to bring So'Zaka into the culture of the Kha, he could be sacrificed to Metztli and I will accept a PK, or he will hopefully be given a chance to become a priest in honor of her blessing of life. This is an event I figured might also give the Kha a little Religious Role-Play as a sacrifice is almost certain! Anyways, have fun, happy Role-Playing, and Poetry for Life.))

Captain Sylen lays on a tree branch, watching the sky, and sees a messenger bird fly over head

"I wonder who sent that..."

He continues laying in the branch for some time

Ja'Lorei takes the rolled letter from the bird's beak, humming a random song to herself. She looks up and watches the bird flutter off back into the sky and to whoever sent the letter. It is mid-day and the weather is warm and calming. She knew that soon she would have to get work done but in the meantime, she would try and enjoy the day.

She went back to her tent, leaving the flap open so the heated air could freely flow inside and sat down to read the letter. She first checked to make sure the letter was for her before continuing on, deciding that she would read it before she showed it to the others.

Her eyes scanning over reach word, she reached the end of the letter and stared at the name. She stared at it for a long while, her eyes flickering as she thought about what she had just read. Slowly, she rolled the letter back up and stood. She walked out of her tent and let the flap fall back down then opened the letter again to make sure she hadn't read wrong.

She exhaled and stuck the letter onto their announcement board for the others to read when they got the chance.

She then went and wrote her own letter then caught one of the aviary birds to send it.

So'Zaka,

This is Ja'Lorei, one of the priestess of the Kharajyr. She is pleased to see that kha is willing to accept some of his culture and would be happy to help him along the way. From what was written, the lessons and changes will be very hard but worth it, she thinks. Lorei believes it would be best if So'Zaka would meet with Lorei to discuss further.

Warm regards,

Ja'Lorei

So'Zaka notices the bird flutter into the flap of his tent, he peers at it for almost three minutes before realizing that it was a messenger bird, not free dinner. Unfolding his legs, he slowly stands. He crosses the length of his tent before snatching the bird quickly, and thrusting it into his mouth. Before he begins chewing, he explores the cavernous region known as his mouth with his right paw. Yanking the letter from the bird's foot, he slams his mouth shut, sealing the fate of the poor creature. He begins to read the letter as he chews, a smile appears on his face briefly before vanishing.

He begins to think of what he was told by another Kha and starts to fear for his life. It never occurred to him that this could be a trap until now. How will he know that they will even contact Metztli? He begins to pace his tent as he finishes the bird, pausing only to hack up the bones and a few feathers that were choking him. He falls onto his bedroll and lays there for a while. Hours pass and still he makes no attempt to write back.

Finally after performing various breathing exercises that e has gotten from Lion, he starts the letter:

Dear Ja'Lorei,

So'Zaka has agreed to meet you. Just tell him a time and a place. If Ja'Lorei chooses to bring someone, it must be a Priest. No warriors or slavers may accompany Ja'Lorei to see So'Zaka to make sure he is given a fair trial before the eyes of Lion.

So'Zaka
