Okay, so I've got this theory that I would love to test out, and I would like to see what you guys, all of you including the staff, think of it.

 

Now, the very first map we had was Aegis, and it was generated back in Minecraft Beta, with very few prebuilds. There was no world-painting, so players had to do stuff the default Minecraft way, by punching trees, getting a wood pickaxe, mining stone, making a stone pickaxe, and then mining coal and iron, etc. Now, back then things in Minecraft and Lord of The Craft were much simpler and, in my opinion, better.

 

So, what I'm saying is why don't, as a test, we make a temporary server using the same version of Minecraft that was used to Generate Aegis, and start from there. All the players can just use the Minecraft launcher to select the same old version of Minecraft, and we can start over with the same few, simple plugins that we had back then.

 

Just face it, the difference between Minecraft Beta and Minecraft 1.7.2, is like the difference between the sun and the moon. Back when I first played Minecraft, I found it far more challenging, and far more exciting playing in single player and multiplayer than I do now, and I'm sure I'm not alone. This will also give our new players that haven't had Minecraft as long as we have to get to try out the Minecraft that we started with.

 

So, post your opinion/support/critisism, and let's at least do a test. I feel that my theory on this has some real potential, and I would love to see it happen.

I voted no, there is so much amazing content we are utilizing in 4.0. 

 

Stained glass, all the flowers.... LotC will be something its never been before. We want to take the basics that made Ageis great and work them into what minecraft is now. Also, I never see us downgrading that much... so....

Eh, there's nothing to test. If this was ever implemented to the main server it would kill it, sadly.

If that's the case, then why is it that we were so much more successful in Aegis back in Beta than we are now in Anthos in 1.6.4?

Honestly, I find vanilla minecraft very boring. Especially the older version, although there is a nice sense of nostalgia to the "Glory days" of LoTC, I wasn't there and my nostalgia is tied in the beginnings of minecraft. Going back there now I must say is not as fun as I remeber. That is why I voted no

You don't understand me. I said it'd kill the server because every new player will want to play on the latest version, and so will lots of the current players. 1.6.4 was the latest version back in Aegis and it did suit the server well(the reason we stopped saying "Hail!" and other road RP was because you can just sprint past people before they can type now) but it just won't work anymore since hardly anyone will want to play on an old version.
