Catarrh 720 Share Posted January 12, 2014 It was quite some time ago --though, perhaps not too long by orc standards-- that Grool had offered to train Malog as a witch doctor. Since then, much had been happening in his life. Grool had been teaching him about shaman culture, Buubztik was instructing him in various rituals and the other shamans around Gronkkston had been giving him all kinds of advice. Malog walked into his hut at the shaman camp after having been taught about masks and totems by Grool. He had been instructed to carve a mask and make a small totem to hang from his staff. The totem was easy. A blob of acidic slime had recently attacked Gronkkston. Upon killing it, the orcs found that the substance of which it was made contained the essence of Orgon, spirit of pestilence. Malog bottled the slime in a small vial, and brought it back to the hut in which Grool and Elphaba were waiting. He showed it to Grool, and hung it from one of the curved horns atop his staff. The mask would require a bit more creativity. He sat down and began carving a piece of dark-colored wood. After a while he finishes carving and fastened a piece of animal hide covered in matted black fur to the back of the mask as a sort of wig-like hood. He looked at his creation: a dark wooden face with six eye-holes, a pair of curved tusks bordering a snarling grin and a filthy, black mane flowing behind it. This was to be Malog's final lesson as an apprentice. He was now a journeymen.
