Draeris 3124 Share Posted February 9, 2014 We have all seen it. Flame wars, acussations , campaigns, petititions, propaganda. LotC feels perhaps only to me as some sort of of political when it comes to moving the mountain of old content and mentalitiesl game Seeing how everybody is blamed for something, and that eventually our philosophers conclude "Its our player and staff mentality not the content!", and only a temporary change happens to our mentality only to make the problems repeat ourself. Even though some may disagree, this community is one of the strongest I have ever seen. As one community, we are similliar to the EU. We all have our own selfish goals and preferations, but eventually we all want to work together for a better server. The test of time has proven us that change is not always appriciated, and that for every action there comes a reaction for a minority, or even a majority. We have had ideas like one massive city state for all races, a peaceful RP hub. But always there was a large enough group to not make this happen. Long story short, we need to improve ourselves on how the system works currently. But the players, we, are the problem. The server restricts and satisfies us out of something writting in words or code, but we are the ones making letters and pixels come to life. Once you realize that, you might want to ask. Shouldn't we make attempts to improve us? I was thinking to launch programs, campaigns and systems to make the community better overall. Many of us escape here for real life, but some use it as some sort of source to get all their anger out. If we want to overcome our problems, we need to give and take, BUT still need to be satisfied, all of us. Firsly., humans can't properly function without leadership. However, that does not mean they can't contribute something amazing with their ideas. I want to get back to primitive staff teams, where a rank only means you can better manage and handle the server than an average player, not that you are the most elite on the server. And if you fail to be better than an average player, you are out of the staff. I believe that everybody is equal, and deserves a fair chance to prove himself on what he/she is capable of. I remember that I wanted to file a report on a staff member, and that everybody laughed at my face saying I would just probably get banned. As far as I have seen, this is true at some points. The staff have became, or made themselves more than more experienced members in their field of expertise. They are role models, gods. Get one staff member loyal to you and you can manipulate yourself to victory in arguments, reports, etc. I wish this wasn't true, but I haven't experienced differently. Let us remind ourselves what staff are for, and why they are staff. Disclaimer: Even though there are major flaws, I respect their work for the server. Secondly, with a massive event and media team. Where are our national festivals? Wouldn't it be amazing that we implent original, or real life-affected themes in a certain season, event, etc? Games often have this. Dota 2 for example currently has a whole Year of the Horse theme with all kinds of Chinese decorations. Perhaps we could host a massive charity harvest event with free bread every "First Seed" so that both hunger, and boredom goes away. Imagine that every week theres another event, every day you can expect some random event nearby. We need more international events, not just "Kralta" or "Conclave". Have artful posters on the forums or even IG! Everyday problems occur or get solved, but sometimes they remain to sting the community. If the community is the problem itself, have campaigns to make sure it passes. If people are to greedy for power, make sure people with no to less power become more appealing. The Staff are responsible to make sure there is a balance and that every aspect of their concept is as fun as it can get. Now, we have came to a touchy topic. Viva la Raiding & PvP. As a major fan of RP default myself, I feel pity that raids can't be in RP and actually far more immersive. I know, RP default has flaws. But are we really going to play Mister Muscle and just depend on the method which requires minimum brainstorming or concepting? When we have the above, when there community can almost moderate itself. RP won't be a problem, because we have changed the mentality. We need to attempt to achieve the impossible, only to achieve full satisfaction. Set a goal as staff, for example "Make losing more fun than winning". Fight to achieve that, concept, ask around. Get involved. And then, we have or came close to the actual goal or have overcame several major obstacles. When the ones with the capacity decide to invest, concept and make these events and programs. We can actually solve much more problems then we have thought. What do you think?
