Mephistophelian 977 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Ok, so here is the situation; I have a character who disguises himself... A lot. I don't want to be accused of changing my name to fool people OOC, but I also don't want to literally TELL people that I am fooling them, and that they will probably lose out if they interact with my character. Should I do the following (I hope you understand my format!): - [Disguised] charactername - [Disguised as fakecharactername] charactername - [Looks odd] fakecharactername - fakecharactername Or, should I just do another thing (what you suggest). Please, I don't want to break any rules or annoy anyone, so I really need help with this. Thanks :D
Sky 0 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Depends on how you are disguised... Masked? [Masked] Sky Hooded? [Hooded] Sky Robed? [Robed] Sky Simple!
Cyndikate 2303 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Or you can just type /setname Alias Have you considered coming up with an actual alias instead of adding a [Hooded] tag there? If you simply let people know OOCly if it's you in a disguise, they will meta. Just don't disguise yourself as player characters.
Mephistophelian 977 Author Share Posted February 17, 2014 Thanks Sky, but I see I explained really badly. He isn't masked, hooded or Robed (normally). He just has fake hair, dyed hair, different eye colours (simple illusion he learnt from a grumpy Mage), different accents, different names, etc. Does it still apply? Wolf Druid Ouity 1461 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Setting your name as an alias is a bit shades though as even people who interact with your character frequently won't be able to discern his identity. I would go with disguised character name, and then a description detailing your disguise.
Mephistophelian 977 Author Share Posted February 17, 2014 Ok Foxfire, thanks for the help :). You also noticed that people would just metagame if they know I am disguised. Ah well, I hope they don't rage and BR me when/if they find out :P. Alright, I will try out what you guys have said, but please keep suggesting everyone! The more the merrier! Thanks for the replies :D

Thanks for the replies :D It's not against the rules to come up with an Alias as long as you 1. Don't make it trolly or stupid, and 2. Not disguise yourself as a played character. Make sure it makes sense. I have a character who dyes her hair and uses illusion disguises frequently. I use Aliases all the time and no one complained. Don't give players any OOC knowledge that can be used against you.
Rissing 199 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Well, I kinda break a rule probably here. But I simply /setname BLA BLA Why ? Because meta, that's why. Don't tell people your alias, they will meta it. Remove the name from your forum so they dont know mcname, they will meta it. Remove any evidence it is you, they will meta it. Make a new robe / shirt for your character, they will meta it. Hope that helped. That's what I have been doing for 3.2 years..
Mephistophelian 977 Author Share Posted February 20, 2014 Well, here's an update: I did the 'changing of name without telling others that I am doing it' thing, and it didn't go so well when my character disguised as someone else. Meh, at least I tried to give a different kind of RP...
