A Grand Mechanism

Recommended Posts

Borin sits in the abandoned barn, his mechanism

eager in front of him, he pulls the wires up to his eyes and sparks

them setting on the mechanism. As it begins to rotate a loud

grinding sword can be heard, it continuously grinds.

((Sorry for peado breathing))

The purpose of such an odd mechanism? Borin plans to use

the heat energy created from the kinetic movement to heat water.

The water would eventually boil and create steam, once the steam

rises it would turn a turbine that would power the Dwarven steam boats.

This would reduce all need for coal within the Navy.

So how is this mechanism powered?

Redstone kicks the circuit in to a continuous

repetition. That makes the iron block move

continuously until the circuit is broken

((Could a lore master rp the outcome))

((There's a thread for this ya know!

I'll take a look at it.))

The machine by itself works well.

However, when applied to heating water the machine proves significantly less effective than burning. It takes a very long time to heat the water, meaning in theory it would take over a day to heat the water. In practice it doesn't boil at all as the heating is so slow that the heat conducts away to the walls of the boiler. Just as a dwarf struggles to boil a glass of water by vigourously stirring it, so does the machine fail to heat the water fast enough for practical applications.

The machine could have other applications though.
