Ave Kaedrin

The grassy knoll just outside of Owynswood was alive with the sound of hammers, the clang of steel, and the joyous noise that was a traditional Kaedreni song. A couple handfuls of men and women were hard at work, setting stones and logs into the ground, creating the foundation for what was to be a castle by the river. Caer Rhoswyn it was to be named, in honor of the glorious order who these people traced their heritage to.

 

A few horses slowly sauntered onto the field, the workers looking upwards to meet the gaze of the riders. Each respectfully nodded, or grinned and waved to the riders, before returning to work. The riders responded with their own nods, grins, and waves, before leading their steeds to the temporary stables built nearby, dismounting and hitching the horses up, leaving them saddled for the time being. Harrison Briarwood adjusted his gloves, before clapping his companion Alexander on the shoulder. Harrison beamed at the work that was being done. The Patriots were making good time on the keep, much quicker than he expected. He bent down, grabbed some lumber from the pile, and walked over to the work camp, beginning to hum along with the song. Alexander followed suit, as did their other companion, and before long, all were working, including the Baron Briarwood.

 

Harrison smiled to himself. His father had left a cruel legacy and a terrible name for the family, but he had returned, and proudly wore it- House Briarwood had returned, and they were new people. The work song came to an end, and they all chanted in unison.

After clearing the roads of the unwanted, Dmitri would stumble on the people singing, after hearing the chant, he frowns, then mutters to himself, "I thought Kaedrini culture died, hrm." He scratches the back of his head glancing curiously again at the foundation of 'castle' and shrugs, making his way back to Flotsam soon after.
