mmat 7460 Share Posted May 17, 2014 As a lot of you probably know, there's going to be a main road in 4.0 connecting the Cloud Temple and the rest of the nations. It is my belief that the main section of this road should be more distinguishable than the offshoots of the road due to its importance, hopefully this will lead newer players in the right direction. To do this, I'm proposing that the styles/materials used to construct the main part of the main road should be changed to this kind of style (ignore the gravelly bit on the left); PROPOSED MAIN ROAD STYLE This would distinguish the main part of the road and the offshoots which would still be made of the gravel. At present, the main road is made up of this type of material, however I do not think it is really road material; CURRENT MAIN ROAD AND OFFSHOOT STYLE. If the road is left unchanged, the main road and the offshoots will look the exact same, and because of this I think newer players might lose their way, whereas if the main road is more noticeable, then they will follow it, leading to them encountering more RP. Obviously it can always be tweaked, etc. I was wandering what you people think about this.
JVQ 1719 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I don't really get what you are saying, which screenshots are the current main road?

JVQ 1719 Share Posted May 17, 2014 The gravelly ones are the main road and the offshots, there's no difference between them. So what is wrong with them?
mmat 7460 Author Share Posted May 17, 2014 So what is wrong with them? Noting per se, it's just that i think the main branch should be more noticeable than its offshoots due to it being the main road, and at the moment it isn't.
Major Dom 1297 Share Posted May 17, 2014 So what is wrong with them? The third picture is the current main road, the fourth picture is the offshots. He is suggested we make them look different so people know when they are on the main road and when they are not.
Daisy 9735 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I think it's good that way. Things are already marked with signs, and if players wander off in the wrong direction, it could make good RP, or help them discover something new.
Princeton 396 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I definitely agree with this. The main road should be more equivalent to a highway made predominately of stone and cobblestone, very similar to King's Road in Aegis.

Dalek348 1962 Share Posted May 17, 2014 This server has a serious case of the 'messy-medieval' plague. The road for the 4th map must be a copy of the Kings Road of Aegis, as is seen in the 2nd screenshot. If you get to the 4th map and find the road seen in the 3rd screenshot then serious questions must be asked of the administration and builders. JVQ 1719 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I understand now, honestly I don't really see the point in it though.
Samoblivion 532 Share Posted May 17, 2014 Mmm, I miss the King's Road style, especially the raised sections of it - very iconic of the Aegis era. Keeps it nice and noticeable and easy for new players to use. How much work would it take to replace the current main road on the build server with this style? If allowed I could do it in a day easily, if not sooner.
Mankaar 166 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I understand now, honestly I don't really see the point in it though. New players will likely be confused when the road branches off into different areas in the same style. The main road should be very noticeable and off roads like the ones shown should be gravely, broken ect. Mixing the gravely and stone style with off roads could lead to confusion when heading to nations across the main road which in turn leads to less centralization of rp. That being said, I agree. Ventusyr 233 Share Posted May 17, 2014 I agree to make a more noticible main road. I'd like it to be sort of a mixture of cobble and stone, but make sure it's distinguishable from the offshoots
