Stiria21 14 Share Posted June 2, 2014 I am soon to be the owner of an entirely new and up to date computer suite and have come up with a slight problem on what to purchase as a peripheral. Continue on as I have always done and have the headset microphone or purchase a full standalone microphone rig. And if so on the standalone. What brand and what extra equipment will be needed. If anyone happens to know about this, I would love recommendations for equipment. (I will not be clicking links, don't post them. You all should know why links should be treated with caution at this point. Please just post names or specs that can be searched.)

bulgaria is white 461 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Just buy a Logitech mic stand from your local electronic store. Costs a grand total of $20 and works fine.
MediocreGamer 838 Share Posted June 2, 2014 I've simply used a surround sound speaker setup with a rock-band video game USB microphone for the past 5 years. Worked well for me so far. I still prefer headsets for communicating though. Browse newegg for a good, relatively cheap one. Here is one of the best headsets to of ever been marketed, it's been around for a very long time and will suit your needs.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158082 I don't care about your whole not clicking links thing, you know I don't do that ****. Crayfishchris 751 Share Posted June 2, 2014 I've been using the Gioteck (Giotech?) EX-05 for nearly a year now, it hasn't broken, and it has great quality. It can connect to computers, and consoles if need be. It's also so comfortable :P That's my shameless plug and recommendation.
Aedan The Bard 350 Share Posted June 2, 2014 Get the Sony wireless headset that is normally used for the PlayStation. It's damn good, and wireless.
Dyrr 137 Share Posted June 2, 2014 I use speakers because my pc's headphone port got ****** up and I need to replace it or something. Whenever I got headphones, I just got some cheap-ass 20 dollar thing. Lasts me a few months then I buy another one. Repeat cycle.
HuskyPuppy 255 Share Posted June 2, 2014 For a while I had an Astro A40 Headset, had no complaints but dogs mixing with headsets dont work well, currently using a turtle beach. Meh, its okay I suppose, fairly cheap as well.
