In the ground somewhere near Atgaard, a simple stone with a carved inscription on it is driven into the ground. It reads, in the hastily-carved letters of an inexperienced stone detailer,

"Mikael.

Took his own life on the 7th of Amber Cold, 1462.

Rest in Peace."

To some family and the officials of Atgaard, a letter is sent.

"The man known as Mikael Grayhammer/Tahir is dead. His estate has been sent to a dear friend, his house in the possession of his wife." It is without any signature, nor any tear marks on the parchment, not even a tea stain.

*Mikael's wife, Malikah, after she would have finsihed burying the body and holding a private funeral with some close friends, sits crying on her front steps with her dear children. Anyone who talks to her would notice she seems very sad.*

"And now we can live normally", Mikael says simply to Rashid, Ilma, and Malikah, after they return home. He is dressed in thick, covering clothing. "I tire of the deceit of the people who insist they own my mother's legacy, and the treachery to the Grand Kingdom that supported their new Telemar... Let us take our leave, to where, I do not know."And then he points off to the red mountain.

To all but the three, it would seem that Mikael is still quite dead.

Mikazuki had slipped away from her home and family to visit Atgaard. Hearing the loss of someone she held dear, she made a point to visit. Her long blonde hair swaying in the wind behind her like liquid gold. Her pale calloused hands tremble slightly around the single red rose she held in her slender fingers. To anyone passing, she would seem serene and calm. "Zir." she whispered softly as she placed the rose on the grave. Closing her eyes she let out a soft breath. "Zir protect Mikael." Slowly she opened her eyes. The blue glass eye given to her by a dear friend begins to glow. "You will forever be remembered Mikael." Her fingers trail across his name as the locket she wore dangled into the sunlight. Tears began to stain her cheeks. "I could not protect him as he did me. Forgive me." She slowly stood and made her way back home.

Sha stares in disappointment at her children, shaking her head.  Not one of them knew what the true meaning of family was.  With a gust of wind she disappears again.
