marimbamonk 1501 Share Posted August 22, 2014 Gul'Thak Rises [Listen along with narration, by clicking here!] “Ahhh… Aghaha. Tok, tok hozh,” a voice guttered. This voice was deep, and covered in a sandy air. It was almost… Other-worldly, as the earth seemed to rumble with each word. And with it, a massive, hard shell made of soil and sandstone, and the pale and ancient skin of a tattered elemental. It was an elemental that spoke, a giant tortoise summoned from the spirit world. Surrounding it, orcs of all shapes and sizes, ranging from Brunhyldir, the Shaman, to Malog’Yar, the orcish Rex. Among them too, was one of darker intent...The elemental opened its mouth, showing a large, dark tongue which it flicked around for a second. “Me peepin’ diffrent uruks dis tyme… More of dem, y’got?” Looking around, the elemental tortoise extended its long neck as the orcs stood, watching it, silent.“Lats nub blah?” The elemental tilted its head at all of them, until finally a single orc stepped forward to speak.Malog’Yar, as Rex of the orcs, had a whole tribe of people to represent. With strife striking their lands, he spoke with a strength and respect that commanded presence. “Zspirut ob da urth, mi am Malog’Yar, Rex ob da War Uzg ob latz peepul, da urukz,” he said. “Az da reprezentatib ob mi peepul, mi azk ob lat dat lat blezz owr landz.”The turtle extended its head and tilted it, as to listen to the orc better.“Alzu,” said Malog, as he held up a vial of black liquid, “Mi wuz tryun tu ged da fyur zpirutz tu imbyuu a pozhun wif der powur, bud dey zent diz inzted. Mi… hab zum idea ob wub et meenz, bud mi muzt be zure.”Malog’Yar stepped back as the spirit kept a steady eye, and lowered its head. The other orcs watched curiously, while a dark figure in the back narrowed its eyes in anticipation. Before speaking, the elemental took a look at each of them, including the figure in the shadows. “Uruks been… Unzettl’d, foah manee yearz. Civul wahrz. Death. Nut maneh communin’ wid uz.” It paused, looking right at the figure. “Taint… Frum da inzide. Da szpiruts gruk… Dey do. Bud we been peepin’.”With those words, the elemental took a massive breath in, grains of salt rising into its nostrils; then, with a mighty gust of wind, it exhaled, knocking the shadowy figure down on its feet.Sands shifted and slithered as the elemental approached him. Zogrocka, the dark shaman, had betrayed the trust of the spirits long ago. He scrambled to his feet, clenching his fists and watching the elemental.“Da szpiruts… Gruk.” Zogrocka shook his head. “Me nub gruk wud lat em blahin’.”With that, the elemental laughed -- a thunderous laugh that grumbled the ground and made it uneasy. “Lat, peep latzelf! Da scahs, da culluh!” As the tortoise neared even closer, Zogrocka shifted, and began to run. Yet, the elemental did not give chase; it turned back, and walked towards the other orcs. They all watched Zogrocka with anger as he fled, but Malog kept his attention towards the spirit as it continued to speak. “Lat gruk wud he dun.”“Wud do dah zpiruts wunt’uz t’do?”“Lat ken do wut lat tink bezt. We will get ‘em… When he iz in owah realm.”Malog turned to his orcish brothers, who nodded back at him. He raised his fist in the air, and with a single movement... The orcish force was moving to apprehend the dark shaman. The Rex turned back to the spirit.“Lat serve da szpiruts well by klomp’n’m rite.”“Zhuud we zacrifize him do Bregthar?”It was here that the elemental spoke quickly, faster than a turtle should speak. “Nub… Bring’m to me.”The tortoise looked at the earth around him… Dry, infertile. Full of nothing, lacking everything. It spoke with a slight nod as it said, “Me can blezz d’earth. Lats gutta wurk, an’ reveah da szpiruts, but me kan blezz d’earth.”The remaining orcs nodded with a slight smile. “Rulg,” they said. Then, the tortoise turned to Brunhyldir, the Shaman, still kneeling next to it and conveying its message for the others to understand. It grunted, crying, “Ztand.”Brunhyldir stood, raising his chin before the mighty spirit. “Lat… Tranzlatin’ dis whole tyme. An’ you been communin’ wid da szpiruts longah den doze aroun’ lat.“Lats name passed around. Brunheeldah? Da irun jaw, agheheh!”Brunhyldir smiled slightly, nodding. “Da elementulz hab known lat since Gon’Zhariuk. ‘Asulon’.”And with a swirling tempest, the tortoise began to sink back into the earth. With final words of leaving, it spoke. “Me name… Gul’Thak.”It was gone, leaving nothing but spinning grains.Brunhyldir sighed, slumping on the ground and wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. Immediately, Malog’Yar looked at him, and spoke with reason. “Brunhyldah. We need uh High Zhamun’da commune wid da szpiruts. Mayk da land rite agein. Lat iz experienzed, and lat gruk wut lat doin’. Lat will be High Zhamun.”Brunhyldir raised an eyebrow, surprised and honored both. “R… Rulg,” he said, nodding deeply as a sign of acceptance. It was then that Oxtuk’Kog, one of the orcs who chased after Zogrocka, returned. Zogrocka had escaped.--Their work is not done, and it is far from over. But with the land blessed, and the Shaman’s return… The orcs look forward with stout determination. HappyShackles 886 Share Posted August 22, 2014 Reksam'Kog mutters something visceral; something dark to himself as the others celebrate the blessing on their land. Zogrocka... He said he had control of the spirits.
