Watyll 1104 Share Posted September 17, 2014 Being a bit of a philologist, I'm trying to compile a list of all Lord of the Craft languages. I would vastly appreciate it if those of you who know a language not on this list, please name the language, along with a link to the language and culture lore. For some I just need one or the other. Read on, and help me with this project pls. Languages Compiled Thus Far: Classical Raev Botch Ilatian [Need link to culture lore] Aeldin Flexio Auvergnian Common Blah Old Blah [Need link to actual language] Flexio Marian Kaedreni (German, so Aesterwald and Stafyrian can refer to this language as just Kaedreni, for simplicity's sake) [Need link to culture lore] Brae Adunian (Google Translate Irish) Adunian Easterner Dwarvish Elven Kharajyr Mori'quessir Black Language Sabunani Again, if you speak a language IC that isn't up here, please let me know so I can add it. And link to the culture page, if you would be so kind.

Watyll 1104 Author Share Posted September 17, 2014 Raevir = people of the raev, not the language (language could be referred to as Raev but doesnt make much grammatical sense) Most Raevir speak 'Botch' which is a mixture of Old Raev (Slavic languages) mixed in with common tongue usually in broken english Links: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1smHHWq5zZ0lVIMky-BMNWh8BZmzWhhUy7AkV0OkCfNg/edit basic guide by komodo4445 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1q59YdA0aQqfGGK28GPHiBH_o9TabjPV8rjDtL3jCrgc/edit complex guide by TheCrackerJack It doesn't have to be a living language to be here, necessarily. Is there a specific slavic language used for Classical Raev? Can you give me a link to the history/culture page of the Raevir?
Aesterwald 246 Share Posted September 17, 2014 Waldenian (the tongue of Aesterwald) is a dialect of the main branch Hansetian, so in a way, very similar to Marian, not Kaedrini. And its not really its own language either, just a twist on basic vocabulary and other minor sounds of actual Hansetian.

Snake Plissken 637 Share Posted September 17, 2014 Thuaidian, the language used by Adunians and the citizens of the ancient Northern kingdom Fai O'Thuaid. The tongue was formed from the tribal dialects of the original inhabitants of the kingdom that King Harren conquered, the strange language of the ancient elves that were fighting with Harren for control of the mountains, and the common tongue brought by Harren's party of former Orenian soldiers. The language was lost in the kingdom when the Adunians were forced out by Owyn Ulgard's uprising and the land was then annexed by Oren, the remaining human citizens adopting the common tongue. Adunians used the language in their new home, Al'Ildic, but it slowly fell out of use when trade routes were opened with Oren and the Old Faith was adopted from the Northmen of Aegis. The language has been lost for several centuries save a few words that are occasionally used to name various things in relation to the Adunian people. Glossary of Thuaidian Words: Ildon - Haven, sanctuary Dul - A hillish or mountainous area Val - Serene, peaceful Loch - Lake Staig - Next to/beside Avek - Power Tor - Seat/throne Fai -Furthest Thuaid - Land Ildic - Prosperity/wealth O’Thuaid - Northern land Al’Thuaid - Northeast land Ar’Thuaid - Eastern land Svel’Thuaid - Southeast land Ol’Thuaid - Southern land Svek’Thuaid - Southwest land Il’Thuaid - Western land Hal’Thuaid - Northwest land Ryme - Exploration related Rhodi - Exile Fheum - Useless Scoh - To be trained Droch - Worthy

Catarrh 720 Share Posted September 18, 2014 We --which is to say, the shaman playerbase-- have decided to withhold the link to the Old Blah for now, out of concern of metagaming. The Old Blah has been metagamed more than once by players who thought it'd be cool for their characters to know it. Sorry for the exclusivity, but it's meant to be a jealously guarded language, known only to the shamans. In our experience, putting it out on the forums for anyone to see just results in every wizard and scholar on lotc somehow learning it. We actually had a post about the Old Blah in the Orcish Roleplay forums for a while. It really didn't turn out well.
