Kickstarted and Running 965 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Order of the North Star The Order of the Northern Star and humble Brothers of Saint William, Saint Konrad, and the Temple of the Magi of Renatus. “Praestetur iustis serviemus.” Formed in a time when the Duchy of Polaris would see more and more Undead and threats, a group of brave men were summoned to take knightly oaths and do service to the Duchy and its people. They are similar to the Order of the Red Dragon in that they serve the State, and have various ranks within, however are not as large nor do they reclaim the legacy of an illustrious order. Headquartered in The Bastion, a massive fortress, they train and help the various folk around the Duchy, and often on the Stone Road as well. Due to a large number of bandits recently, the Order has taken to patrolling in large groups. Various duties are involved, not all of them fighting. There is also a need for non-combatants such as cooks, scribes, messengers and so forth. Each Knight is expected to take on a Squire at least once in their service, unless there is an extraneous circumstance. Knights are obliged to take up quests as well, helping villages, peasants, and those in need for the good of the realm and to help put the Order in good standing. Knights within the Order strive to gain honor, and with honor comes respect. This is how they are promoted. The more honor one gains by completing quests and doing honorable, chivalrous, and pious acts, the quicker they will become promoted and obtain more chances to better themselves. The code of Chivalry the Order abides by, however, is the one used in the Holy Oren Empire as it is a near identical copy of the Code first set down by the First Holy Orenian Emperor Godfrey ‘the Red Dragon’ I of House Horen. Upon the rebellion of the Storm King, and Aesterwald, the Order of the North Star saw Polaris betray Aesterwald, thus dissolving them of their oaths. The Grandmaster made the decision to swear the Order under the Storm king, taking the patron saints of Konrad and William, and being tasked with the watch and apprehension of Magi within the Kingdom. Those illegal apostates fell under the jurisdiction of the Order, now with true purpose they adorned new armor and colors. Ranks Knight Commander- Lord Ser ____ the ____ The de facto head of the Knights. He is responsible for keeping the Order structured and functioning. Upon his ascension to his rank he takes an oath of loyalty to his men, as all members have taken up an oath of loyalty to the Order and it’s Knight Commander. Knight Captain- Great Ser ____ the ____ Warriors of great prowess and skill. They have undertaken violent and brutal tasks and proven their worth. They are candidates for Knight Commander and may command knights of lower station. Knight Sergeant- Ser ____ the ____ Grizzled veterans, they have obtained the right to call upon knights of lesser station to aid them. They may also command Knights of a lower station in a mission or if the need arises, however there is no ‘squad’ in which a sergeant leads. They have obtained the right to carry their own banner. Knight- Ser ____ the ____ Having earned the right to take a title by completing a dangerous quest, the Knight is the valiant warrior who rides for justice and honor. They usually take a knightly title based on their traits or skills. Upon being made a Knight in full, they are granted the privilege of taking a squire. Knight Errant- Ser ____ Having completed their first quest, a Squire obtains the rank of Knight Errant. They are granted the title of ‘Ser’ and are formally recognized as gentry. From this point upwards they can take on more dangerous quests. Squire- ____ Receiving many years of rigorous training, a squire is assigned to a knight or taken by a knight to learn the ways of Chivalry. Usually a noble’s son, or the son of a wealthy individual, they are usually ages 10-16 in which at the end of their training they take their first quest on their own, and become a Knight Errant afterwards. Specialized Ranks Among the ranks are also specialized ranks given to people of value or merit to help keep the supplies available and tasks on hand. Quartermaster The Quartermaster are responsible for distributing supplies and storing them, as well as organizing them. They are not the only officer with access to the supplies, but are the preferred officer to obtain supplies from. Chaplain Distributes Alms, and is not in any way a knight, but a Church liaison to the Order, responsible for keeping the Knights in good faith. He is appointed by the Church of the Creator by whomever they designate responsible for such. Bearer of Burdens The officer whom has completed the most quests of a dangerous nature, such as purging a dark coven, or slaying a great beast. Kickstarted and Running 965 Author Share Posted October 14, 2014 Continual History of the Order To be updated as history continues Founded on the 1st of the Amber Cold 1476, Ser Fredeirck Hartmann recieves the approval of the conversion of the Lucky Clover Castle into The Bastion by Duke Thoromir Armahnk I of Polaris, and the Order of the North Star is formed with Frederick Hartmann appointed as Knight Commander of the Order. He is granted the title of “the Vigilant” as a reminder of his duty. 1st of Snow's Maiden 1477, Calden Fritz is taken as a squire to Ser Frederick the Vigilant, Knight Commander of the North Star. 1st of Snow's Maiden 1477, Davin Thule is granted his first Quest, after having completed his test. He will be Knighted upon completed with full honors to the rank of Knight, due to the severity of the quest. 11th of Snow's Maider 1477, Jaeger Hohenzollern is give his first Quest. Upon completion he will be Knighted and granted the title of 'Ser' to his name. 15th of Snow's Maider 1477, Ser Davian Thule returns from his quest, and is knighted with full honors, tain the title of 'the Bastard' 15th of Snow's Maiden 1477, Ser Corbett van Cleef is accepted into the Order as a Knight Captain, taking the title of 'the Dreadful' 15th of Snow's Maiden 1477, Ser William Lochwood is oathed into the Order as a Knight with full honors, taking the title of 'the Brave' The Order of the North Star undergoes a refounding, and swears under the Kingdom of Renatus 3 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

She sighs and gets out of her comfortable bed and travels to the Bastion's construction site, where she bosses the builders around as per usual.
