Achilles 892 Share Posted November 23, 2014 The cavern was filled with a plethora of noises that would startle any sane man. Rocks fell upon the scorched remains of those who previously tried to slay the three headed killer, despite their gear they all had two thing in common- a terrified expression and an early death. A group of thrill seekers, soldiers, an alchemist, a couple of marked men and a Duke made their way through the dark, cold tunnels of the Hydra's lair on the outskirts of the Embermoor. A dwarven tavern owner and one of the hunters sat atop a floating barge armed with a ballista while others made their way on foot, trying their hardest not to rouse the resting beast early. As the men took position and the barge idly floated- something unexpected occurred. A stranger to those present moved into the lair, unaware of the storm that was brewing and unknowingly woke the slumbering beast with a naive inquiry, “Wot’s goin’ on ‘ere?!” An ear piercing roar filled the cavern, shaking the very foundations of the earth. "You ploughing fool!" cried one of the men as the beast climbed from it's nest, revealing three sets of sword-like teeth. It immediately lunged for a couple of unfortunate soldiers with its many maws, picking them apart limb by limb. Bloodied armor rained down upon the survivors like discarded wrappers as the beast stomped around, causing the water in the cavern to rock against the ballista barge. The panicking men sprinted desperately about the caves, some occasionally slipping into the open to be torn to shreds by the Hydra. Those present died one by one. Torrents of flame spewed forth from the beast’s three throats and coated its surroundings in a colossal inferno. Swords bounced off the creature’s crimson hide like twigs upon stone. Only a few remained as the Hydra made its way towards the Barge where a Dwarf and a Hunter frantically turned the ballista in the direction of the lumbering demon, on the gravelly bank the Duke, the other Hunter and the last remaining Soldier dove into the water as flames torched the surface in front of the barge, setting some of it alight. “Fire!” A single bolt soared through the air and lodged itself within the Crystal on the Hydra’s chest, cracking it like glass. “It’s working!” hollered the hopeful Dwarf as the Hunter loaded another bolt in place. Those who had dove into the water emerged to see the beast screeching and flapping its great wings, creating a tempest that knocked them back into the depths. The Hydra flew up and up. Birds and animals alike scattered in all directions as the ultimate predator emerged from its ravine, roaring loud enough to be heard even in the most remote areas of Orenia. Those who assaulted it ran to the surface to see the creature fly off with a bolt lodged in its chest and a seething hatred for mankind. The survivors looked to the distant beast as it flew towards the horizon, expressionless and exhausted. “What the **** did we just unleash?” Thank you, Adeon for the writing. Kim 1328 Share Posted November 23, 2014 Serce's ear twitches as a large shadow passes overhead. It's eyes narrow with trepidation and Serce shakes it's head at the enraged cries of the beast. "Beh, whed heya dha sesar nula luw?"
Pikel Boldshoulder 175 Share Posted November 23, 2014 *Pikel seems oddly cheerful as he makes his way back to the pub, a bundle of cloth under his arm. In the safety of his office he unwraps the package, a familiar gleam in his eyes as he reveals a shard of the Hydra's crystal. Setting it alongside the other oddities decorating his office, Pikel reclines in his chair, quite content with how the day turned out* "Mark my words monster, Ye can' hide from us forever."
ScreamingDingo 20568 Share Posted November 23, 2014 "Inaction, breeds doubt and fear" The night had dawned upon the small town of Aldersberg, the city square empty, all life now slumbering as one man sat awake, in his room. The man grunts to himself, pages and drawings littered over it as he continues to scribble on them. The man of the Marked, the hunter simply murmurs to himself, the drawings depicting a large, three headed creature. Various circles littered around its heads with arrows and small annotations all over it. "Weh shall kill it soon, mark meh ploughin' words." Gerald closes his eyes, his mind now going back towards the scene earlier that Elven day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ccpv3mz4HI Flames, screaming and wild movements amongst the cavern. All the faults of the hunter himself. The beast progressed throughout the travellers, the dwarven stranger promptly dispatched by the Hydra, engulfed and roasted by it. All while Gerald secured the Balistae at the end of the cavern, his eyes narrowed as he watched innocents, stupid ones, but still innocents. Get slaughtered under his watch. Pikel was the only one, the only companion he trusted apart from his loyal brothers and the duke, the one whom accompanied him on the balistae that very day. The co-operation of the two ensured that a bolt was fired promptly into the crystal of the beast, but that is when he realised the others had simply no chance. The hunter prepares, this beast cannot harm the mundane anymore, not after these other failed attempts

MatrixNeo585 10 Share Posted November 24, 2014 *Watching as Pikel walks into the pub with his bundle he would notice the gleam of the shard walking with him up to his office as Vidar watches hang it up* "Another Successful day I would guess Pikel?" Vidar would ask "Or just a minor victory?" he would continue.
problematic z 477 Share Posted November 25, 2014 A disgruntled, tired and dirty Hunter made his way through the rural areas of western Athera, searching tirelessly for signs that the Three Headed Beast had made its new home nearby. Each batting of a bird's wings made him flinch as he constantly looked to the skies with caution. The events in the Embermoor ravine had taken a toll on the Hunter's nerves despite his many years of experience, never had he seen so many experienced men die in the space of a few seconds due to the actions of a single beast. "No ordinary monster." he muttered to himself as he rememberd the words of a certain wise man that had spoken to him after the failed assault. The Hunter continued his journey along the south-western peninsula, determined to solve the problem he had created and to avenge the lives taken by the Hydra. He traced the sign of the Lorraine cross upon his chest as he trudged down an overgrown path. He frowned, knowing these may be his last few days alive.
