The snow fell softly at first, the halflings lulled in their beds as it padded against their burrow's windows. It was a peaceful thing, and it brought little to the ground. But as the night stretched on the winds swept across the rolling hills, across the pond with a storm of ice. As the blizzard came in, the lake gleamed as it froze over as quickly as a halfling couple getting drunk on their wedding night. The blizzard's harsh winds and large chunks of snow slammed against the circular doors of the hobbits' burrows, shaking the heavier sleepers from their rest. Halfling families gathered their members towards the fireplace to watch the snow sweep through the hills, they whispered stories of their coming fun, of the snow wars and the snowmen. The feasting, the hot cocoa, and the Knoxmas. Each burrow was filled with hushed whispers of glee, contrasting to the deep rumbles of the blizzard outside. But as the first morning light peeked over the Mount and flickered across the whitened hills, the halflings strapped on their old snow gear and waddled outside.

Children skated along the pond in fresh sharpened skates, and Fumble led a snow ambush on Mortimer's convoy. Amell tried his luck at cutting open the lake to fish while Mardo rambled on to a crowd of hushed children about how Knox and the Snow Spirit had joined in love, sweeping the land in this joyous snow. The blizzard began to lighten and the fun began to become more prevalent, for this indeed was the start of the Joyous Snow, and the start of the Knoxmas season.
