_Sug 2809 Share Posted January 13, 2015 A Thesis on Conversion [!] Acolyte Jude walks into his personal study, as usual he kneels down on a small spruce pew. The Acolyte begins to pray, thanking the Lord for allowing him to be on earth and guiding him in his everyday life. Jude says his prayers then does his daily reflection. He recalls a group of men talking in the foyer of a church he had served at in the morning. As he sits he recalls that the men were talking about how even though some heathens, heretics, and pagans who have converted to the faith are now with them, they are not equal or better than them. Jude then nods and walks over to his small table which was littered with papers and books. He dipped his white owl feather quill into a blue marble inkwell and begins to write a thesis. “This past morning I recall a group of three or four men speaking upon the subject of conversion. I being a man of the cloth was curious about what the men had to say about the subject. As I listened I was fascinated on what they had to say. They believed that even though those converts who were once pagan or of a different religious belief were not of equal status to them. I disagree and will digress upon this subject that is very dear to me. I grew up in a small settlement near Petrus. It was a quaint little town with not too many people who inhabited it. As usual merchants and travelers would pass through and buy and sell goods, but one day a man of the cloth came to town. He preached and spoke about the faith and also about the subject of conversion. I, being a young man of 17, listened to this man who seemed well educated, was inspired and captivated as he spoke about the various different topics of the faith and the Lord. I would go to listen to this man almost every day, and then when I believed I was ready I approached the man and told him I was ready to serve the lord, God, in any way possible. Then we spoke upon the topic of Baptism and later that week, I was baptized into the faith. Now, me, being a convert has little to no impact on my belief about this topic. I believe that we are all brothers and sisters under one faith and that the past is the past, for example St. Lucien of Ulmsbottom, was a convert to the faith and he became a Pontiff. He was a man who changed and impacted our faith in a positive way. Now, I write this thesis because I strongly disagree that those who convert and were of a different race, or religion, are below us in any way. In the end we are all below one great being and we will all be judged differently. Just because you may have been a pagan or nonbeliever once doesn’t mean that you are not a brother or sister of the Creator now . We are all equal and should love each other the same. Now I leave you to think upon this, If you are someone who believes converted heathens, pagans, or heretics, are below you, how would you feel if you were in their shoes." Thank you and God Bless, Acolyte Jude

Coaster 2086 Share Posted January 13, 2015 Upon reading the thesis, King Andrik of Akovia nods "A most accurate and enlightened document. Our brothers and sisters of the faith are not defined by their origins, but by their actions."
Cracker 4570 Share Posted January 14, 2015 The High Pontiff reviews the thesis with his morning brunch. Quill in hand, he returns his personal copy to Jude. "A thoughtful thesis overall. You've taken time to research Church figures and tradition to defend your case through an excellent citation of the life of St. Lucien. While the issue of human pagans is not as critical as back in the Third Era, you bring a good point from your own personal story that they are many immigrants and foreigners new to the land of Athera who may be unfamiliar with our traditions. We should strive to educate them and bring them to the light, not shun nor bring prejudice against them for straying from a path they knew not existed. Report to Bishop Kristoff in Savoie and recite the Oath of Allegiance to him; your trials and contributions to the Church have not gone unnoticed, and I do find your progress noticeable enough to take upon your first step towards the priesthood. He shall name you a Deacon and from there you shall began to more deeply read into our Canon traditions and perform your first mass."
John Ivory 4546 Share Posted January 14, 2015 Godwin pens a response to Jude. "Dear Jude, I have read your writings on conversion and equal status under God, and I must agree to it fully. Our God cannot be a prejudiced one towards those who come to his light, as he is made to encompass all those under the sun, be they of Orenian kind or Malinorian or even those shamanistic Orcs who come from the deserts of the west. Such is the case with Ludomir the Green, a resident of the late Aldersburg town, who was made refugee after fleeing a series of civil conflicts between Azogs and other clans of the Orcs at the time. Ludomir was welcomed into Aldersburg by Mieszko Lechowicz who, upon meeting the rather savage at the time shamanistic Orc, had Ludomir converted and culturally attuned to our God. Ludomir embraced God and forgot his shamanistic heritage. Thank you for writing. Signed, Godwin Myre, Gardist of the Palatinate Guard"
