Does God Talk? ~ A Thesis

[!] Deacon Jude enters his study and he sets his book onto his desk. Jude then makes his way over to a small spruce wood pew in the corner of the room and kneels. Jude then says his evening prayers and stands. He makes his way over to his desk and picks up his white owl feather quill and dips it into his blue marble inkwell. He then takes out a piece of paper and begins to write another thesis.

“So today I was in the city of Akovia and I overheard a man and a woman talking about the four great prophets of the faith. It is known that our Lord, God, has only spoken to four living beings. I began to think, does God speak? As I sit here now I realize that he does speak. He speaks through scripture, through works of charity and mercy, and through nature. I am going to quote my favorite passage from scripture, found in the Canticle of Temperance, it says “Lo and attend, for I am the Lord God, and I am in the foremost part of heaven. Though the spring flower withereth and the fruit of the tree falleth to the groun, my word lasts into the eve of the world, and the fruit of virtue cannot rot.” As I read this during my session of study today, I thought back to the topic of God speaking and I realized that he is speaking to us all the time. We just have to open our ears and listen. God is a loving God and he wants to point us in the right direction. When we read scripture we are reading God’s words and listening to his lessons on life. As I was walking through the streets I saw a man, a disabled man. When I saw this man I made my way over to him and gave him all the coin I had in my pockets and I realized that is it not God who told us to do charity and works of mercy? When we do these works, we spread God’s word do we not? We spread his message whenever we do charitable acts. God speaks in many ways and we need to just take some time to stop and listen to his word. I am not saying that a great voice is coming from the heavens and talking to us. I am saying that God is telling us to open not only our ears but our hearts too. We need to open our hearts to let God's word in.  We need to be able to not only hear his words but act on them as well.

God Bless You All,

Deacon Jude

[!] Jude then sits back and exhales reading over his work and he stands rolling up the paper and handing it to a young altar boy. The altar boy takes it to a courier who sets off to deliver the thesis to you.
