Kickstarted and Running 965 Share Posted January 30, 2015 1860 1860. Napoleon III seeks to revive his predecessor's Empire, Prussia is on the rise and Austria becomes less and less a German power. The British have a massive Empire supported by colonies and trade. The United States will be thrust into a conflict over slavery, and the East fights the colonization of greedy Europeans. It's a time of industry and fire, economies backed by the barrels of soldiers, businesses protected by private armies and exploitation of those who fail to defend their own borders. Everywhere has a flag, some have two while others may see the same flag rise and fall many times. Dark days are coming and only the brave and stalwart can prove to be an aegis for their people, their ideals, and their ambition. Bold generals and sly politicians keep the world from falling to chaos. 1 Page is 6 months No **** posting No backseat moderating Mods will resolve disputed battles and disputes Keep it civil Realistic RP please No meta gaming or I'll curb your ass. bickando 3967 Share Posted January 30, 2015 The Union of Sweden-Norway King Karl XV sat across the table from the Palace's Lutheran priest. Between them was a divorce document; already signed by his wife Louise of the Netherlands, he now signed it and pushed it across the table. Looking through them and looking up, the priest nods and says, "These seem to be in order, my king. It is my honor to pronounce you a single man." Stepping outside into the cool spring air of Stockholm, Josephine Sparre threads her arm through his. They walked through the gardens of the Sveriges Kungahus in Stockholm, a few caretakers bowing as their King passes. Eventually a mail runner comes up to him with the message that the generals are assembled in the command post, and he bids Josephine goodbye. As he makes his way out of the Kungahus, the king's retinue steps into line and they begin to walk towards the High Command base. In it stands his generals, those that had kept the military in top shape for the forty years they had been at peace. That would soon change, as the large Swedish navy and larger army were rearing to fight something, anything, and Karl wouldn't disappoint. Swedish Military 45,523 men 117 field batteries 4 ships of the line 7 frigates 28 smaller ships 70 gunboats Gun Type: Breech Loading "Kammerlader" The Swedish army begins to march to the South and many begin to load onto ships. Great Britain is offered an alliance and trade agreement.
dirtryhary 26 Share Posted January 30, 2015 United Kingdom The United Kingdom was on top, in the peak of the revered Victorian era. All across the world a Brit could be found, from the beaches of Jamaica to the penal colonies of Australia. Queen Victoria despite all her fame, was just a figurehead. The true power laid in parliament, and it's various organization's. In the strange lands of Asia, the East India Company reigned supreme. With a charter from parliament they enacted it's will and accounted for most of the trade. Making huge profits to fund private militia, they worked together with English regulars. In Europe itself the English navy remained strong and diligently patrolled it's waters. In England itself people could rest easy in the middle class, and were privileged. A prime hub for trade the profits made were high, and abundance was plenty. Also the industrial heart of the empire, workers from Ireland, Wales, and Scotland worked in factories. Partially protected by Unions, they were paid well and had a high output. In Ireland the Queen visited often, and tried to improve relations with. Despite this tensions were still high, and wrong policies could result in rebellion. In the United Kingdom's colonies civil liberties were less abundant. Australia was a place for prisoners, opportunist, and the navy. India was mainly governed by it's own elected officials, but we're nothing more then English puppets. New Zealand was a place of the good ol' English, with maori tribals being pushed inland. Canada was given increasing amounts of home rule, but is still an important node in the military network. In South Africa a white and English minority lord over the many black africans, and is an increasingly rich and militarized area. In Europe parliament holds session and enacts laws to adapt to the modern times. In established colonies such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and India local militias were to be raised. Under a watchful body of UK soldiers composed of regular troops and some officers, local and loyal civilians of English and Colonial descent would be armed and trained into small bands. Tasked to protect their local province, they would free up the amount of UK soldiers needed to garrison taken land. England's ship yards receive government funding to expand and modernize their works. The French had built the first ironclad, and England's was close behind. After their first ship, parliament was persuaded by the admiralty of their worth. In an effort to modernize, and compete with France, improved dockyards are to soon be building Ironclad's for the government. Fifteen ships of the line, and twenty five frigates to escort the soon to be refitted ships. With the freeing of United Kingdom troops, they were also recalled back home to have a well deserved rest and resupply. Troops already in England are raised, and told they were to take the returning men's places. Almost Thirty thousand fresh troops are beginning to mobilize and head to muster points. Markedly less troops were taken or recruited from Ireland, in an attempt to keep the calm. In Australia settlement is encouraged, as the Aboriginal tribals have been contained in the heart of the land. Still a penal colony as well, cities and provinces received a boon in cheap labour, making road construction quicker if not more costlier in lives. The coastal trade cities receive noticeable increases, as the East India Company moves naval routes to accommodate and protect Australia. Not directly propping them up, parliament let the company do it for them to save the money. India receives and increase in garrison forces as the need to control becomes apparent. India was modernizing, and cheap labour in English factories was paying off. 'The Jewel of the Crown' was it's nickname, and would be guarded as fiercely as if it were so. Protestant plantations are encouraged, farmland being given to men of the faith to increase it's influence in India. To an extent Indian coastal cities begin producing Ironclad's with the profits made from the extensive trade. In South Africa a force of some Fifteen thousand UK troops is assembled. Supported by locally raised militias that teach them in the ways of desert warfare, they head north. Taking the African tribals under arms or bribery, the UK sphere of influence was to be increased in all of southern Africa. A strong naval detachment is to pick up active troops from England, and steam towards the English Caribbean to increase the guards there. The Swedish offer of alliance is agreed upon, parliament welcoming another protestant ally. Agreeing to open trade, they attempt to increase relations. Queen Victoria schedules to invite Swedish King karl to England, to talk about matters of state....and possibly marriage with an English noble. Italian Republicans fighting for unification are offered the sales of British arms and cannon, to be paid in loans for after the war. The Prussians are asked to enter a trade agreement. The Ottomans are asked to name a price for the sale of Crete.
Bolajay 4 Share Posted January 31, 2015 Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont Military: 70'000 infantry 4'000 cavalry 90 guns For centuries, Italy had been a disunited cluster of states, subject to the arbitrary whims of greater powers. However, in the revolutions of 1848, Italy was shaken by nationalistic desires to unite and although they ultimately failed, the seeds of amalgamation were firmly sown. Sardinia-Piedmont was in a favourable position, merely a year ago they had won the support of Napoleon III who had signed the Pact of Plombieres. With French aid, they had managed to wrestle control of Lombardy, Modena, Tuscany, Parma and the Legations from Austria-Hungary and in exchange, Sardinia would cede Savoy and Nice. Meanwhile, in the south, Giuseppe Garibaldi had been campaigning restlessly against the Kingdom of Two Sicilies and had the upper hand, having secured much of Naples. The British Empire's offer for the sales of arms was also accepted, Sardinia-Piedmont would begin to arm their men with the relatively technologically advanced British weapons. The Papal States would be asked for military access so two corps led by Fanti and Cialdini of about 45'000 men could be sent south to facilitate Garibaldi's campaign. Meanwhile, Victor Emmanuel would ask for British or Prussian aid in training the Sardinian armed forces, the Italians' armies were notorious for being a ragtag, undisciplined militia. Sardinia planned to rectify this by building a stable core for the new Sardinian Army, foreign military aid would be required though in the form of officers and training. Kickstarted and Running 965 Author Share Posted February 2, 2015 Dem Königreich Preußen King Friedrich Wilhelm II stood at the balcony of his Palace, his father, the Soldier-King, has passed away from the bullet of an assassin. A Catholic zealot to be exact, domestic as well. With such, alertness was increased around the Capital, and patrols more frequent. It was a black day, his corronation, but his duty demanded he continue his father's work. All efforts he had made would not be in vain, and the time of Prussia was nigh. Turning upon his heel, the King walked with purpose to his Privy Chamber, to meet with his advising staff, and to receive diplomats and messages deemed important. -Prussia Troops receive standardized gear to avoid poorly equipped regiments and troops -The missive from Sardinia-Piedmont is accepted, and Military Advisers are sent to help train Italian soldiers. -The British trade agreement is accepted -Sweden-Norway is asked for a non-aggression pact and a trade agreement -Prussian soldiers move to garrison fortresses and outposts along the Austrian-Prussian border, carefully watching any scouts and travel into the Kingdom
thesmellypocket 1859 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Kingdom of Greece Greece is a new (barely 30 years old) nation run by Otto I of Bavaria. Her lands run from the tip Peloponnese, to the islands of the Southern Aegean and east-central Greece. She is a small nation, with a small army and navy, with many of her peoples under the reign of the Ottoman Turks. Most of her land's valuable metals and other resources have been exhausted, once teeming with wealth in the times of the ancients. But now, her only incomes are from agriculture and Aegean trade, and she is poor and one of the most impoverished countries of the Mediterranean. Otto I of Bavaria is constantly getting involved in civil affairs. Despite the intended constitutional nature of the monarchy, Otto I regularly gets involved in matters of state, and this has made his reign so far very, very unpopular. He is a German, hailing from Bavaria in what used to be the Holy Roman Empire. Though a decent administrator and military mind bringing positiveness to Greece most of the time, he is reckoned by the people to be incapable of ruling the nation. Army And Navy Infantry:80,923 Cavalry:9,001 Cannon:124 The army is armed with rifled muskets that one would have seen in Crimea. These would be no match for breech-loading muskets like the needle rifle, but are reliable and adequate against most European forces. The infantry is generally drilled to an average standard. The cavalry of the Greek army is of your average sort, mostly lancers and dragoons. The cannon of the army is very outdated and under-trained. Navy: 2 ships of the line 3 modern frigates 2 older frigates 5 old Ottoman galleys from the Napoleonic era 34 gunboats. Actions -Greece sends a message for a military alliance with Russia, along with a trade agreement and a request for Russian military advisers to help the Royal Greek army. -Greece requests trade agreements with the Italian states such as Sardinia. -Greece concentrates the 7/8 of her military forces on the border with the Ottomans. -There is a request for British Royal Naval officers to aid in the command of the Royal Greek Navy. -Prussia, Britain and France are requested that they sell or give modern arms to the Royal Greek Army.
