It is noteworthy, fellow Children of Larihei, that on this day we have acquired a new Maheral: One by the name of Iatrilemar Elervathar. This Maheral, said to be the "guiding cultural force amongst us", is undoubtably set to lead us down the path of liberalism, should we heed his word.

Credited with the legalisation of Clericalism, the illegal usurpation of the Maheral in his short time as Sohaer and the refusal to quell the impending Bronze Rebellion— Iatrilemar Elervathar has demonstrated his Alfakyn-esque ways time and time again.

While the Sohaer will make no illegal unilateral effort to violate the law and replace him, as Elervathar did to Elsohaer when he was Maheral, he denotes his personal scorn for the Maheral and outright denies he is worthy of this rank.

Do not mistake this, however, for permission to balk at the rank of the Maheral. He is to be treated with the minimum respect the position entails, lliran. Scorned for his liberalism, but not harmed in any way.

The liberal Maheral is to be watched.

"Being blindly conservative is equally unpleasant. Even more so when a conservative psychopath, known for his cruelty and a want for vengeance and needless bloodshed, has been elected Sohaer. I would gladly welcome a liberal in his place. They have capacity for rational thought and decision making, unlike a certain mad elf. " mutters Valens Ith'ael as he passes by on his walk home.

"And yet, llir, we are in a time of war. Time has proven again and again that the most aggressive and dangerous of leaders are those most fit to lead in times of chaos and strife. When the chaos dies down, we may challenge him, and have him replaced through democracy and popular vote with one whom will then keep the peace. It is all a matter of situational awareness - knowing what is best for the time. And right now, Kalenz Uradir, though he has done distasteful things at times, is the best leader for our kind. Be at peace - he will lead us. for the time, quite well."

"He leads us away from purity as we speak, with every passing moment. One who seeks out war is not fit to lead our kin. What are we, if not lesser, by subjecting ourselves to the machinations of fire and steel? War is not our way, we are not conquerors. Elsohaer seeks to subjugate and 'enlighten' the lesser elves, but for what purpose? They do not want enlightenment, nor are they deserving of it. He acts as if he was one of the dwarves, so keen on enforcing our 'way' upon others with a blatant disregard for true progress within our own society. Simply put, this is not a war of self-preservation nor is it for self-defense, but one to further the agenda of a select few. Kalenz Uradir is a power hungry mongrel who seeks to project the falsified ideals that he believes to be Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya onto others. His madness has consumed him and what is left is but a rotting carcass, shriveled and grotesque, void of whatever beauty that had once dwelt within."

"Perhaps not, but war has found us - it is inevitable, and so, it must be dealt back. Kalenz, whether mad or not, is our best chance of doing so."

Far away from the gleaming spires of the high elven city, away from those pillars of civilization, Vellulai'thill Vul'athri looked up from her notes with a frown. It was almost as if... Yes! She jumped up, sweeping scraps of parchement from her lap and letting them fall to the ground with a rustle. Sighs of relief that they had escaped a rougher fate, crushed when she walked over them to the the side of her small cabin and ripped through dozens of papers tacked to the wall, in a storm of knowledge.

Beneath it all, an emblem carved into the wooden planks. She ran her fingers along it slowly, feeling every curve and well-worn edge, as if she had done it many times before.

"Almost as if..." she muttered. With a shake of her head she spun back to her desk and sat down, pulling her pen and notes towards her. The city shone with purity when she left, the absolute pinnacle of elven perfection. It was unthinkable that one of the supposed wisest elves of her species had let his mind rot with thoughts of liberalism and equality. No, it could not have happened. What folly had gripped her to even consider such a possibility, if only for an instant?
