Fasts

His Eminence Bishop Kristoff, Bishop of Savoie has written a small informational paper on the types of fasts.

Kristoven Fast

The Kristoven fast was invented by his eminence himself. You fast for a fort night before the feast of saint Amyas, it is mostly done in lands of Savoyard culture. Not only is does it show a person’s humility but it’s also done to give thanks to the Almighty for the plentiful harvests and food that will be eaten in the feast.

Danielite Fast

The Danielite fast was invented by Saint Daniel. It is a fast usually performed in pilgrimages and it is a way to show your devotion to God. It consists on a loaf of bread and water once a day. This is why it is considered a way to show your devotion to God, not only is it a small and poor meal  (especially when travelling) but when one is in God’s grace, God watches over him or her and protects him or her.

Wilfrichite or ‘Warrior’s’ Fast

The Wilfrichite fast or ‘Warrior’s’ fast as it’s more commonly known was a fast that Saint Wilfriche would partake in before battle. It is not widely known because the common soldiers choose to eat a filling meal but Saint Wilfriche himself said that with that fast and prayer to the Creator he felt stronger and more iron willed and would never flee the battle.

Everadite Fast

The Everadite Fast was a fast performed by Saint Everad while undead forces were looking for him, he only had water and a really small amount of fish in his hideout. He meditated for three days, and heavily prayed to the Almighty for protection .Miraculously he did not get caught and thus every faithful performed this fast on the day this event happened. The cod fish can be prepared in any way but it can not have any other ingredient accompanying it, although some seasoning is fine. It shows your devotion to God.Although it fell out of practice after the first Pontiff was elected.
