A Fire Burned Out

In a house just off the main road of Leuvaarden a bright, red head woman nursed and cared for her two infant children as she waited for her loyal husband to return to them. She cooed with them and giggled until their little eyes watched her with tired blinks. With a small smile on her face she picked them up placing one on either hip and tiredly walked up the steps. Two small wooden cradles lay on the  floor next to her bed. Kneeling, she laid down the little girl  and covered her with a dark woolen blanket. Straightening with her little boy still clinging to her side she smiled and spoke to him softly taking him to her bed and laying him down.

With a worn sigh she settled herself on her side next to her child. The child looked back at her with matching green eyes. The two peered into each others soul windows with a loving gaze. Brushing a fiery strand of hair from her face ,she spoke quietly to the child of her love for him, his sister and father. She leaned forward brushing a small kiss to his soft forehead before laying her head down and going on with her soothing talk.

"My son..my beautiful children." she murmured "  to think that you are mine, to think that I was blessed with such a family. " she brushed a finger across the child's sleepy face " My love will never run out for what I have been given, you are my pride and purpose. " The tiny boys eyes began to slid shut "But one day.. time will run out for me and you must be the protector of this family, not just for your sister but for your father too.I pray that you will always find happiness and love as I have." a light sigh came forth " now let us sleep my child.." she murmured with a smile upon her lips as the child's eyes closed and his breathing slowed and steadied. She let her own eyes slip shut and her worn and tired body relaxed.

And to those who would return to her home, this is how they would find the burnt out woman. Curled next to her child, her lips turned upwards in a loving smile, her blazing hair settled over her shoulder and spread out like a flame on the blankets. Leitha Tullians bright eyes never to open again to the cries of her wanting children or the sound of her name.
