First and foremost, I appologise if this is not in the correct subforum. Now, let us get to business;

Recently, I have attempted to open minecraft, and it has refused to open. Instead, I am greeted with this:

Which then creates these files on my desktop:

game & nativelog

nativelog contains the following:

########################################################
Native Launcher Version: 51
Operating System: Windows 8.1
Application Hash: b06079c75cb616544a6dbf83108db9a3265e1242
Java Version:
x64: 1
Encountered internet exception 12002: The operation timed out

Encountered internet exception 12002: The operation timed out

Failed to download manifest

But the 'Launcher'' program soon vanishes when this is displayed:

When I attempt to start up minecraft yet again, this pops up:

I did a bit of my own searching, and found that you should enter http://resources.download.minecraft.net/ in your web browser (mine happens to be Chrome). If it doesn't show up, they say you must be on an internet that blocks this. This is untrue; I am on my h0me wifi, with an internet that does not block anything. I successfully installed minecraft with is just a day ago. Regardless, the webpage comes up with this error;

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Yes, I have redownloaded MC. I have deleted all the files, deleted .minecraft on %appdata%, and have used the installer and the .exe file. Still no success. My laptop runs on Windows 8.1. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Update: I have waited as it said, and saw this, when the 'Launcher' was running. It is found in the game file, which is empty after the 'Launcher' fails.

Nevermind. I just made a damn notepad script to run the backup files of my minecraft, and it worked like a breeze. Guess I'll be using a .BAT file to start my MC until I fix this issue XD

Edit: If anyone could help me launch my minecraft with the normal launcher, and not some hybrid that I cooked up, do tell!

what version of java are you using

Latest version

Maybe try downgrading to the version before the current one. I had the current one and my MC wasn't working; then I downgraded and it's worked fine ever since.

To clarify, use 1.8.1

Not talking about MC.

But you asked what Java, not what MC?

Yeah, Java. If you go on their website it tells you how to downgrade. Of course, this might not be the problem, but I'd give it a shot.
