Trouble With My Uniform

So I've been trying to put my Archon uniform onto my Dark Elf but whenever I add it it removes my 'Hat' from my player model.

I've never tried editing skins before and I assumed that all I had to do was go into paint and copy my Dark Elf's Head+Hat onto the Archon uniform skin. So far all my attempts have meant that my Elf's hat refuses to show even though it's in the skin. I've checked my settings and everything is turned on in skins.

I would of attached the files but for some reason it's not letting me.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I had this problem too after I edited one of my skins. Turns out that for some reason the entire hat layer's transparency turns white so you'll have to clear that out first. Hope it helps.

Ah cheers. Ms paint was saying something about transparency when I tried to save it. I'll have a look.

Use minecraft.novaskin.me instead of paint. It's much better and user friendly.

So how do I go about copying my head to a uniform? The clone stamp tool doesn't seem to work properly?

Make sure you uncheck the box with your skin on the right hand side. To use it, take the skin of the uniform, and erase the head part of that skin. If the hat interferes as well, you can erase that as well. And then, you check your skin again, and make sure everything looks good.
