The mirror hits the ground, shattering into many pieces.

“Perhaps now you can focus on the mali’aheral of elcihi.” Avern’dionne says, stepping over the shards and making her way from the library. A relatively new face passes her as she exits, Krodin. She stops at the doorway, suddenly hearing a disturbance behind here. She turns about, seeing the Soaher stabbed and Damasus diving on the Krodin. In horror, she holds her spear tight as electrical energy rushes through it. She rushes forward as the assassin stabs Damasus, the blade going through his shoulder, pinning him to the floor. Avern’s spear comes in contact with assassin, many volts passing through his body rendering him unconscious.

“Bind his hands!” she shouts to another High Elf who had just entered. She then tends to Damasus, removing the sword as he squeals in pain. She rips some cloth from her dress, tying it about his wounds. Crumena enters the library.

“Crumena, Elsohaer has been stabbed, tend to him.” she picks up Damasus who fidgets in pain. “Bind the assassin in the clinic, he will be questioned there.” Avern and the other mali then carry off the two, one unconscious and the other injured to the clinic, leaving Orsino with Crumena.

They arrive, setting Elmedi’ir on the bed, and Krodin is bound a post across the room. She looks about franticly as other mali enter “I must check on Orsino.” she parts back to the library.

Avern’dionne enters the room, seeing Crumena just parting and Orsino’s wound still open, though the bleeding has stopped “Come, we must go the clinic. Your wound needs tending to and the assassin must be questioned.” they then depart.

“Who! Sent! You!?” she shouts, after nearly an hour of questioning, all proving he is but mad. Avern holds a knife to his throat, nearly cutting his skin.

“T-the guard! Olympus! B-but... Orsino is a blood mage! I was sent to save you all!”

“Who told you this?”

“The voices! The voices tell me he is a blood mage! Check his wounds!”

Those questioning look about each other “He speaks insanity.” they all seem to conclude. “Ikur had tested him with anti-magic, he did not react.”

“He is!” Krodin exclaims.

Another mali watches the situation, Naerir Adraine. He gives his input “Ikur’s tests would not detect dark magic. If he has nothing to hide, then have him remove his clothing.” those gathered nod in agreement “Have him strip then.” Avern orders. Orsino would remove his top, the wound from the stabbing still clearly visible. Then... it would begin to vanish, healing nearly instantly.

“By Larihei!” Naerir exclaims “Why he is a blood mage!” The crowd gasps, all astonished by the dark magic witnessed.

“This is compelling.” Damasus frowns at Orsino “This... this is pure evidence of what we have speculated before. Perhaps Ikur’s check was indeed invalid...” he seems rather furious, his face red.

“It must have been the healer!” he exclaims “Since when did dark magic heal?”

“It healed just now though, like that!” Avern snaps her fingers “Since when didn’t it? You are expert in dark magic now, you would know...”

“Blood magic.” Damasus states “Orsino Acal’elor I challenge you to the position of Soaher. Your petty lies and general uselessness has let this city fall to stagnation. You have already been associated with the blood mage Calendir and even defended is impurity. He had yellow eyes, and dangerous tedancies. This has been an ongoing investigation, and the evidence shows what is true.”

“I see what’s going on here...” he says with distaste, putting his clothing back on.

“If he is a blood mage may be debatable.” Naerir adds “However, a stagnant city and the potential that he was a blood mage and that he was plotting with Calendir is alarmingly high. It is this I support the Medi’ir’s challenge, noting the total inappropriate nature of these coincidences.”

Orsino pauses, clearly shocked by the nature of the situation, he then begins “I forfeit my administration of being Soaher, this is a political plot and nothing more and I. will not have my name besmirched in the name of your ambition.”

“Resigning in the face of oppression indicates potential guild.” Naerir adds. “Only the guilty run.” Avern says “Forsooth” replies Narir “Only the guilty run.”

“We are only observing evidence, Orsino.” Avern states.

The Triumvirate wants me gone... it can not work if two thirds wish to rid the other.” Orsion admits “I will not have Haelun’or suffer through this. I’m only oberving that this has been a vlver ruse and I’ll not take part in this little game of your any longer.”

“Furthering elmahr’sae hiylun’ehya is not a game.” Damasus rebukes “It is a mission and you have clearly failed. That is all.”

Orsino takes a breath, calming himself “When I became Sohaer the city was empty, in pieces after the Naysayer’s actions. I am now leaving it repaired, partially that is. You have work to work with than I illur. I am however done, my talents outside of being accused of blood magic are obviously not wanted.”

“If you wish to stand your ground then do so otherwise you are weak. We do not need a weak Sohaer.” Avern says bluntly.

“I must agree with Avern’dionne.” Damasus adds with a sad tone “This is not a ploy. I risked my life to save you today, Avern as well, and you repay us with this treachery?”

Orsino take a moment for a final reply “Treachery? No, you challenge me, I forfeit. That is being gracious, as I believe I do not hold the popular sway among our kin any longer. Better a peaceful transition than a drawn out one.  I am not a blood mage, and I will be going now. Call if you ever need me. Val’ayla and maehr’sae hiylun’ehya.”

And with that the Mantis took his leave. Sohaer Orsino Acal’elor was Soaher no longer, his weakness overcoming his fortitude. The mirror shattered.

"I saw the heavy crowd of Valahs upon the gates this morn - was it so drastic it closed the city?" She murmured
