Lathrosian Speech

Lathros pats his forehead with a cool rag. He pulls out a few parchments, places them in order, and raises his voice in order to make his voice more audible to those listening.

“I have been absent for long,” he gives a few small nods to those around him, “yet in my absence I have become new. My bonds of old have been broken, my old ways are no more. However, many of you do not know my past,” he lets out a disgruntled sigh. “I shall come clean.” He clears his throat, putting down the parchments, “Many years ago, in the realm of Athera,” he appears to be making many hand gestures, to emphasize his words, “I was confused, I was discontented with the current state of affairs, there were many different problems, spanning variety. And in my ignorance, I felt satisfied with stealing from the Grand Kingdom, I stole much in the eyes of many, and little in the eyes of few.” He hangs his head, “After that point, my guilt was too much for me to handle." He raises his head, looking at all those he is speaking to "I went on a pilgrimage, I went to find what my goal in life was, what I was working for the many years I have been alive within this damned few worlds. I want to lead, I want to work with friends and foes to better this Kingdom which I have personally cursed with my greed and ignorance. I am ashamed of what I have done, there is no lie within that. In the shame in which I live, I am convinced the only way I can be purified of my previous sins against the Grand Kingdom, is to show the Grand Kingdom of Urguan I can lead, that I am a noble and honorary dwarf, unlike how I acted many years ago, during my past nominations, and during my past tenure as a legate, and other professions within the Kingdom.”

Lathros waits a few moments before continuing, grabbing his parchments once more, taking a sip of ale, as froth sits on his mustache he sets the cup down, muttering “refreshing” under his breath as he continues his speech.

“Many of you may be asking, what would I do, what would I do for you, what would I do for this kingdom and what I would do for the well being of all those who live within the realm of Athera, and this great nation.” Lathros shows a small grin, “And, well, I shall tell you… I plan to work with each individual which has a quarrel with me, and me being King, whilst taking each opinion, and suggestions into mind, and presenting them forward as soon as possible to other groups, or individuals and getting their opinions. I shall make it clear that I value each Urguanian opinion, every Dwarf is entitled to their opinion, and their criticism of me, or the Kingdom, and I shall be sure not to silence them.”

“Next, I, along with the senate would work to keep each and every single Dwarf busy, to suppress Starkdom, and to give each Dwarf a head start in their personal wealth, and advocate for them to gain experience in their profession, and for them to do what they enjoy. On the same topic of the economy, I plan to inject minas into the economy, and buy from the common Dwarf, expanding the Urguanian vault, and the mina balance of every dwarf. Along with working with each dwarf to find a suitable way to support a steady income for the Kingdom, whether it be taxes, or another form of income.”Lathros shuffles his parchments as his eyebrows jump up as he finds the one titled, “Military.”

“Military is meh next topic,” he gives a small grin to any Dwarves who may have stayed. “The Dwarven legion has gone through many reforms, some good, some not as good. It is not my place to judge the reforms, as I have not participated in most of them, and I can not believe every thing I hear from others. However, I promise to find, or maintain a Grand Marshall who can provide an efficient and effective method to organizing, and increasing the ranks of the Legion.”
“On the topic of Diplomacy," Lathros mutters under his breath "this should not take too long…" He returns to his much more audible state of talking, "I plan, on creating, and keeping an everlasting peace with every nation. Along with the assistance of fellow diplomats, I hope for this to be easy, but as I said, I can only hope.”

“Lastly,” he clears his throat once more, “I wish the best of luck to those running, and those who have a much higher chance of winning than I. Good luck, and have fun being a Dwarf.”
